Bro wtf? This is a pro show audience?
-
With the pros going into the crowd, I'd guess that is from the finals. Yet the empty crowd would be more expected during prejudging.
I'd expect more people in the audience during the finals. Sheesh.
And bodybuilders wonder why second tier pro shows don't pay very much?
-
Bodybuilding is dying....just look at the lack of quality physiques at this years Masters National........way worse than I`ve ever seen.

Disappointing - you get bigger crowds at local UK events, never mind national :-\
I'd be interested to learn the running order, because I thought the new 'big idea' was to trap audiences for the Open by breaking with tradition and having the Classic final last - so people had to watch the buffaloes to get to the antelope, kind of thing...
Just wondering if they did that or not with this one... Anyone have any idea on this please?
-
Lol at posing in the audience with about 20 spectators.
-
There’s no use for competitions anymore, people get enough attention and money on social media

Probably girlfriends and family of the top six, to boot.

I have no clue brother....the closest thing to a pro contest I`ve ever attended was the Junior Nationals years ago.

Honestly way easier to go pro in bodybuilding then classic or men's physique, these categories have like 40 plus competitors on the amateur level. Even at the pro level classic and men's physique lineups are 20-30 deep.

Most recent I attended was a 212 and Women’s. Lineup was:
Women’s Physique
Men’s Physique
Women’s Bikini and Figure
212 Bodybuilders
So the open bodybuilders are generally still last at the Pro shows, like they always have been. So there is not much audience left at that point. So not totally surprised by the Vancouver photo. One aspect of this is that, despite all the Instagrams and YouTube updates, the fan base really does not really know the NAMES of hardly any of the current guys. Contrast that with a regional Pro show say with Tom Prince, Craig Titus, Marcus Ruhl, Dennis James, Melvin Anthony, Chris Cormier (I could go on and on with recognizable names) 20 to 25 years ago.

Yes it has gone virtual which means bodybuilding has kind of become a more solitary pursuit inside your own house with self photography and via social media. I guess there is still camaraderie in the gyms to some extent. And I guess there is name recognition on Instagram and YouTube channels, but it just seems so much more solitary than it used to be.

They have more competitors because it is easier to obtain a physique build than bodybuilding it takes years to become a heavyweight bodybuilder

BB is (one of) the most horrifically ghey events one could be a spectator of.
Ive been to two in my life. The first one, I realized how horrible, and left after 30 mins.
The 2nd one, I went to see a friend at the pre-judging and left after he was done.
Very schmoe-like and odd...

When I compete I always go home straight after I have been onstage
I just find it boring, at least back in the 80s and 90s there were guys who could pose properly.
All you get now is guys cupping ears and stomping around to Rap and rock tracks
