Dana White has announced that Tito ortiz has pulled out of the fight with Ken Shamrock, and that Forrest Griffin has been drafted in as his replacement. Its going off on July 8th at the Mandalay Bay. The main event id the rubber match between Sylvia and Arlovski
When asked why, Dana simply said "its always something with tito"
Dana was also critical of the judging for the Ortiz/Griffin fight saying judge Abe Balardo should never score another MMA fight again (he was the guy who scored it 30-27 for OrTito)
-
More like Boring news...
Really does anyone want to see Shamrock fight again? I know I sure as hell don't.
-
My guess is that Tito will have surgery on his knee and need to recuperate it for a while.
-
Griffin went to Dana and requested the fight, Dana openly said he thought Forrest beat Tito. They both get what they want and Ken unfortunately gets a retirement fight against a man who will own him soooooooooo badly. And Ken is one of my favourite fighters ever. I wish he would have retired gracefully with a legend, now hes a washed up has been in MMA who sticks around for a pay check he doesnt deserve

Yup, yup...like Marino sticking around waayyy too long.

I agree, plus this story broke a week ago. Shammy should hang up his muttonchops and find an office job.
-
why wouldn't ken just wait for tito to heal up?
E
-
he should retire and become a trainer, i.e. Pat Miletich. He must know within himself that he'll never be competitive again
-
it's a fight...
between two guys we all like to watch
it's what we're here for...
so lets see some ass beating!
and i honestly wonder how this one will go too..forrest will bangadadang on his face..but is he good enough to beat ken?
???
-
Ken is nothing in this day and age, whereas Forrest is one of the next big things in UFC. Ken will be stopped in the 1st round. I hate saying it but hes not even competitive anymore. He KO'd Kimo but thats it
-
but the question is
will you still pay to watch it? thats' what dana is bankin on!
-
Last time I saw,at the fight, Tito said he was hurt and may need surgery, Dana needs to shut the fuq up, his boy got beat, Griffin did not win that fight, most of the punches he threw were blocked and got his ass handed to him in the first round, should have been 10-8, Griffin even knows he lost, he said it, what's Dana afraid of Tito may start winning some fights, the UFC needs guys like him, the bad boys, not the clean cut wanna be's

I think it was close, but Tito edged it out w/ that 3rd round takedown. I think Shammy's going to get a beating here...
-

I read this and the first thing that came to mind is who would pay that man to be there coach?
He sat there on the show and said i don't know BJJ so I'm not going to teach it to you. So if he cant do that why would i want him to coach me? I don't need a coach to show me how to get punched in the face and that is about the only thing he does well right now.
-
fuck BJJ, its not the be all and end all. Shamrock is a submissons specialist, a master of his craft. In his prime he could submit you from any position.
He was also world shootfighting champion and world number 1. He can teach you how to strike, how to submit someone and how to manouver yourself into advantageous positions. Just because he is passed his best as afighter dont think that you couldnt benefit from his knowledge. I would be more than willing to pay him to coach me.
-
i dont want to see either shamrock, tito or forrest :(
-

Exactly! He has had some great fighters come out of the Lion's Den!
-
So you guys agree with his coaching style on the show so far?
To me he is soft in his training.
-
have you seen the training the Lions Den fighters have to go through? If he did that with these guys then they wouldnt make it to the octagon to fight their shadows. Hes easing them in as well as he can
-

exactly.....
plus tito so far has had the advantage of knowing what fighter is gonna fight next while shammy has to guess until 2 days before the fight.......
my guess is shammy's gonna be more apt to run his guys into the ground once or twice a week as soon as one of his fighters wins and he get's the hammer and get's to pick the next fight
team shamrock has had to drive with blinders on up until this point
knowing the next fight's got to be a hell of advantage if ya think about it
-
and back again...whats the deal tito??
-
Shamrock was the King, show some respect. Hes a hell of a coach but limited to what he can do for the cameras.
Dont believe for a moment he doesnt know bjj. He doesnt like to give it any respect because royce used to tie him up all the time in it..........frustrating as hell to a guy who wants to fight, and not just lie there butthugging someone in a pretzel hold.
Ken is a master of all the arts.........its all he thinks about.......FACT.
-
I'm glad to read Dana was smart enough to see that Forrest won the fight against Tito.
-
So you guys agree with his coaching style on the show so far?
To me he is soft in his training.
I think his logic is that you should be there to fight and not to learn. He seems preoccupied w/ beating Tito vs teaching his guys. It's hard to push guys hard when they have to be ready to fight at any given time...
-
Yup, yup...like Marino sticking around waayyy too long.
You know nothing about Football/Marino. he played hurt his last two years, and had no one on his offense that would have been a starter on any other team. also its a fact that the Steelers/Vikings deperately tried to convince him to play for them. no your gonna tell me that Dennis Green and Bill Cowher are not a good judge of talent. i know this has nothing to do with MAA but you said it and need to get a clue
-
According to www.titoortiz.com. T
"Tito Ortiz' MRIs came back negative for tear on the ACL and/or LCL. ACL is healing, LCL streched. Slight break of fibula. Nagging bulging disc in his lower back.
Don't question his heart, he's a warrior.
Tito WILL BE FIGHTING KEN SHAMROCK IN JULY!"
Guess it won't be long before we find out if this is true.
-
Where did the original poster get this info from?
-
Ive been a fan of ufc since the first one. Ken was a freak back then. but watching the t.v. series i can see hes throwing tantrums and its obvious that tito owns him badly. Hes really in his head.....and those emotions will allow him to make a mistake that tito will grab......sad but true.
-

BULLSHIT CALL!
Tito is fighting Ken. And he will whop his ass too!
But man did Forrest own him bad, Tito seems to get scared when someone moves forward and is really offensive. It is truly amazing he beat Vanderlei on points back in the day. But then again, it was a floor only match. Props anyway.
-
Ken shamrock is not washed up. Why do you think they call him the most dangerous man in the world! He wont his last fight against Kimo. Knocked him out with a knee to the dome. :o
-
Because Kimo is more washed up than Ken.
-
Because Kimo is more washed up than Ken.
Exactly! It's a good thing Kimo called it quits to keep some respect for what he did in the past...as for Ken ::)
-
I really think Ken will kick the shit out of Tito... Ken is much more trained than forrest and he should have wont.
-
Shamrock doesn't have a chance in hell against Tito. In him prime, sure, but not now. I still don't know what the hell happened to Ken in the Fujita fight
-

Too many adrenaline agents with not enough cardio! Ken tries to shortcut way too much with his BB coach!
-
I hope someone has a defibrillator at ringside. Oh Petey!! My heart!!!!

LOL! Kenny better load up on his Geritol!
-
How are Tito's injuries holding up? Will he be ready?
-
Whatever happens, please, please, do not expose us to Shamrock Gracie 3!
-
Where did the original poster get this info from?
After the Griffith fight when Tito announced his injury. He said it had to get checked. A tear meant no fight. It took a life of its own while we waited for the results. Tito would not fight with torn ligaments. The bone has had time to heal.
So it is now time for the Huntington Beach Bad Boy to put the World's Most Overrated Man to sleep for good.
-
Fuckin tito barely beat forrest, then complained forrest had grease on his legs to prevent the later takedowns... I'm looking for this to go to shamrock.
-
I have an announcement to make so pay attention.......please.. ......There is zero chance of Griffin beating Shamrock........zero chance. In fact Ken will w/out doubt give Forrest the worst beating of his career.
Reasons (plural)..........
1. Griffin is a 'warrior' who enjoys getting hit and gets better as he gets hit. Griffin needing to get hit in order to be a 'warrior' (ie. weak defense) will play into Ken's hands. This "look at me I can take a punch" garbage by Griffin will be exactly why Ken will open him up.
2. Shamrock can submit Griffin. Agreeing w/ a prior post, Ken still is still a master of submissions and could very well end it by breaking a bone.........that's right, I said it. Griffin won't tap because of his heart.....yes, I will give the kid that.
3. Shamrock beating the 'kid' will put a finishing touch on his long & illustrious career. He knows this.
4. There is an old Spanish expression regarding bullfights that applies.......translatio n....."Never trust a bull when he's dying; it is then when he is most dangerous." Dying bulls hook/gore/kill unsuspecting bullfighters. When you have nothing to lose you are a very dangerous man indeed. Old Ken at the end of his career could still have a little magic left in him w/ all of us including Forrest leasts expects it.
I call it magic because it is the hope of the 40+ year old writing this post to see another 40+ year old raise his hand in spite of the odds.
There you have it.
-
Exactly! It's a good thing Kimo called it quits to keep some respect for what he did in the past...
He's fighting Bas Rutten in 1 month; Tank said it best. He said there should be a 12 step program for fighters to stop ;D

Read up in the thread bro, plus it's been all over the tube.

I saw the post regarding the fight happening in July. Frankly, coming from the tito website, I wasn't sure to believe it. Either way, I still stand by my words.

This fight isn't happening. Also, I guess you didn't see the Shamrock/Franklin fight...
The old man has lost 6 of his last ten fights...most by getting the fuook knoked out :-\
-
shamrock versus franklin is a bad deal for shamrock. no drama and ken is going to take a fucking beating.
rich doesn't mess around.

Ken will never fight Forest because Ken's fight career, and possibly his life, end July 8th. Shamrock had a nice career but should have hung it up after he got ko'd by Sakuraba.
-
You are right, mindspin. That actually should have been written past tense. My bad. Rich wasn't even the bel holder then and it was his first big name fight. Spike Tv has shown it like 10 times since.
-
To be fair, I would have liked to see the fight if ken had not slipped and fell right before rich ground and pounded him when they stopped the fight.
