Title: Stevie Ray Vaughan 28 Dec 1983 at the Beacon Theatre
Post by: Moontrane on September 29, 2022, 10:19:24 PM
I was there, second row.  I remember some poor kid got on stage, and security threw him off and gave him a mid-air kick.

SRV played blues, a style that, in lesser hands, quickly exhibits its limitations and mind-numbing repetition.

Stevie is Fortress’ favourite blues guitarist and performer.

The man was extremely talented, passionate and of a ferocious intent.

Hail.

Played with the largest strings, and very high action.
Hands of steel and yes, one of the GOATS...

His facial expressions when playing were mostly due to pain, brutal and it's true. Fucking helicopters, he could still be playing nowadays....

My old guitar player was a SRV maniac and we used to do a few of his songs, very fun...
(Where normal blues could sometimes be mundane/boring)...

most all music is aggrivating and best played at lowest volume possible as background noise , it totally drowns out thinking

He was first introduced to cocaine when he was only 6 years old, in prescription form, "and I've been using it, prescription and otherwise, ever since." "I knew that I had to have some help for a long time, but I kept taking the attitude that I could pull myself up by the bootstraps and keep going.

Dude had serious substance addiction issues.

Fought hard, got clean and then died in some goof helicopter crash.

Terribly sad.

Fortress owns all his CDs, and, yes, DVDs.

Oddly enough, I saw Clapton week before last at MSG and Jimmy Vaughn opened up for him.
