should you really count reps? I honestly don´t think it´s so important.
-
there is a PT at opur gym who counts out loud every single rep his clients do and its loud enough to carry across the gym
I politely asked him if he couldnt just count the last 2 or 3 and count the rest in his head.
Im pretty sure its annoying his clients as well

what i mean is before i knew about sets & reps i just repped out with a weight then later put more weight on the bar did the same. no real thinking just lift till failure & got results !

I dont really count to be honest
I have no sets and rep goals when I go in the gym, I cant even tell you what weights I use
I just go on feel, if I feel strong then I add weight, if I feel any niggles I go home
At the moment I just do pump workouts 2 weeks out from the show

Studies have shown that for hypertrophy do your sets to within 3 reps of failure.

Aha :D

I count just to know if I’m can beat the previous. Not on all but a few things.i don’t think it matters if going to failure.

you do need to push it sometimes.

Absolutely you should count reps.
Absolutely you should start ANOTHER shitty thread.

Think you misunderstood, I don’t think counting reps matters if going to failure. I believe in failure on every set including warm ups. That’s just me.

OK i beg your pardon Sir

I don't count reps or sets. Use weight that feels heavy for a few reps and a bunch of sets. All good.
-
You're all counting. You can't not count. It's impossible.
-
I count every single rep for every single set.

Craig Titus was said in one magazine to do between 9-13 reps and this has stuck with me for many years, the two odd numbers. Not 8-12 or 6-10, 9-13. That should have been the first red flag.

i always count reps... for straight sets

True. I’ve never understood people saying they don’t count cause I always have to count.

6.435 reps to 15.5644 reps on every set.

It's really not. Are you saying you've never thought if that was 7 or 8 reps? If that was your 3rd or 4th set? I just don't worry about counting. I have an idea how many reps but I don't do the 1...2...3..stuff.

Ok, yes. And I get more when I don't program myself to fail at 10. But the OCD guy in my head is hard to ignore. Unless I consciously drown him out with something else he always knows right where I am.

Haha, same.

I set rep goals just to have a target in my mind.,..... but if I fall short it`s just as good cuz I know I`m pushing hard.....it just helps me in a way as an attempt to reach a certain number,or to have something to shoot for....if not,it`s no big deal......I just feel like next time I fail,I`ll commit suicide......I` feel worthless and weak, and that`s no way to go through life !! ;D
Bottom line, just push yourself to train hard, and be consistant.
