vince McMahon has sold the WWE to the Saudi Arabian owners of Newcastle
-
Vince is too old now
-
From what I’ve seen, I’d still categorize this as a rumor.
-
Contrasting reports online
https://twitter.com/arielhelwani/status/1613173533357625350?ref_src=twsrc%5Egoogle%7Ctwcamp%5Eserp%7Ctwgr%5Etweet
Contrary to reports stating otherwise last night, there is no deal in place at this precise moment for WWE to be sold to Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund or any entity, sources say. The organization is still exploring all options, I’m told. Developing.
-
A Getbigger bought it.
-
It’s not official.
-
Vince is 77 now, but had the gate of a much younger man up until age 65. Arguably, he only VERY recently started showing much at all in the way of age.

Matt who were some of your favourite wrestlers? And your favourite wrestling physiques (no homo)
You kinda remind me of this guy

I’m hearing the Shockmaster bought it
-
We can expect more sports related buy-outs similar to the above this year.
I'd like to remind you all that that the UFC was recently sold to WME by two brothers (owners of the Station casinos here in LV) for $4 billion (US funds), but many claim that it was actually $4.5 billion.
WME (William Morris Endeavor) is the management agency for top entertainment (movies, TV, music, etc.) personalities and has purchased other sports related businesses recently.
As an aside ...... Has anyone any inside/outside information regarding the Rock's once upon a time planned ATHLETICON?
All of a sudden those plans disappeared ..... Or am mistaken?

One of the best debuts of all time. “He’s going to…..shock the world!”
Sid should’ve won an Osacar for staying in character the entire time

Is this when he fell through the wall or something along those lines?

In a bedazzled stormtrooper helmet…yes. With the British Bulldog in the faint background “He fell on his fookin’ arse!”

Ha, i didn't see this until a mate showed me few months ago, funny shit.
Sid always seemed legit angry, ready to explode ;D

Sid was an awesome monster heel. It is just no one seemed to know how to push him properly. If he had been pushed as a heel with the same intensity of Goldberg or the brief Mark Henry heel stint, he would have been awesome.
-
Saudis are going to buy it....hope they don't crash and burn it. ;)

CNBC reporting nothing official yet, but they are starting to put together prospectus and putting out feelers in case there are offers. They think maybe NBC/Comcast and Endeavor might be in the running -

That's the best part - they literally took a stormtrooper helmet and bedazzled it - if that character stayed, Disney would have surely chimed in.
It was epic.

If Arabs buy it you can bet the steroids and "Anal-Eze" will flow like the Nile when it rains.

I have never seen that. Looked it up and found another one:
The WWF and then the WWe was really a great show during the 80s and 90s. You knew it was fake and choreographed, but you watched and loved the various dances these guys would do. The storylines were sometimes great, other times it sucked so bad. Some guys were in amazing shape and would do all sorts of great stunts while destroying their bodies in the process. Nothing but respect to those guys. Hopefully they are paid better today as compared to the 80/90s.
My favorite was the nWo and their entire backstory from ECW to the WWF.

I dont mind steroids in wwe actually, they should allow it again, the wwe wellness policy should be used to combat illicit drugs like coke, meth, ice etc and not on PEDS.

Jake the Snake's dad was dating his grandmother, then raped her 12-year-old daughter conceiving Jake the Snake? ???
Can a Getbig wrestling fan confirm that this is NOT true?

he was big and had a good look, outside of that he didn't have much going for himself

I saw recently on youtube they pushed him to do that jump off the rope that broke his leg, he didn't wanna do it as he wasn't comfortable and then that happened!

Isn't there a story about Sid getting into a fight with a much smaller wrestler (Dean Malenko?) in a bar and Sid going to his car and getting an umbrella as a weapon cause he was afraid to fight him? I remember reading something like that where he talked a lot of trash and tried to intimidate a smaller wrestler in a bar and when that didn't work got an umbrella or something from his car to use as a weapon.

He and Arn Anderson got into I think. A pair of scissors was involved.

All he needed was being big and having a look to him. Monster heels normally don't have an amazing arsenal of moves.
He was used mostly as a transitional champ. He should have been a long term world champ at a time when the company was hurting for credible heels after losing Flair.
-

Drugged brawlers of peace...
Sid had a squeegee before the scissors.
-
He went to Andersons room to have it out with him about some disrespect earlier on. He ditched a weapon he took but anderson came at him with scissors. Sid stabbed him 18 times i think it was, Arn stabbed him deep in the stomach, vader saved his life by sticking his thumb in the wound.

Sid loved softball tournaments. That’s all he was probably thinking during the Shockmaster promo. “If I do a really good job in one take, we’ll get out of here early, so I can hit the diamond before it gets dark outside.”
-
Once we go net zero they will only have sand...
I am almost completely certain that you're right.
Initiatives towards reducing "climate change" will become the new paradigm and here in the USA (with the Saudis getting cozy with China + Russia) we will either deplete our own supply of oil reserves, drill at home, exploit South American countries for oil OR push forth towards a "greener" future with renewables sources of energy and carbon emissions reductions/monitoring.
World Economic Forum + White House + United Nations are ALL pushing for this and I have no doubt it's going to happen, but you never know.

Didn't stop the LIV golf tour.
The Saudis went all out to sign the PGA golfers, start the tour and then worried about broadcasting deals.
They could buy the WWE and then sell the broadcasting rights to a global streaming service like Netflix. Might as well start their own sports entertainment streaming service.

This is fake news. Nothing is set in stone. But I hear that Bunkhouse Buck and Dewight Yankem D.D.S. are now on the payroll and ready for a Wrestlemania debut.

I know that is what they did in the territory days, but the behavior didn’t work with only 2 options.

Sid had the look. He had the size. He had the power. He had the believable aggression and intensity. He was good on the mic. He didn't need a big skill set because to be honest, that works against the entire monster heel mold. He could have easily been a type of Bruiser Brody maniac that was marketed to the moon and elevated lower faces. But instead everyone seemed to drop the ball.
At the end of one WCW run, he interviews were hilarious. There was a youtube spot where he said that he knew he didn't have a future in the company and so he didn't give a shit any more and was out there having fun.

If you take someone small with a good skill set and put them against a monster with a good skill set, everyone knows the monster is going to win. They won't sell seats for that.

Weird thing was Arn escalated the fight with the weapon only to have it turned against him and Sid was the one fired. Flair had pull back then.
Sid's time when Goldberg was being pushed was the absolute best. His interviews are legendary. Especially when he was copying "the streak" that Goldberg was on and the way the announcers kept reminding everyone of Goldberg's streak. Sid skewed that streak to hell and back hilariously.
Interviewer : We are here with Sid Vicious and Sid..
Sid : ... now has a 104 undefeated streak. 104 people I have beaten and ........ (interview continues)....
A HALF HOUR LATER IN THE SAME SHOW
Interviewer : So now...
Sid : SHUT UP! Everyone of you better shut your mouths because the man with the 108 undefeated streak is here and...
Interviewer : Wait.. you said just a few minutes ago it was 104.
Sid : Well I just beat up 3 people backstage.
Interviewer : That's only 107.
Sid : I beat up one person TWICE!!
It was gold.

Dude, you on a roll.
BUT.... what you described was/is the classic "big man" move set. Hogan actually had some decent technical skills but they were just out of place with what Vince was pushing in America.

There was a match between Mr. Perfect and Show (The Giant) in WCW. Mr. Perfect did a legit Perfectplex on the Giant. Straight up powered him up and over. No "jump" to start or that little "roll" Giant/Show does to help people do the move... and then Giant/Show did a kip up to get back on his feet. (hand on second rope, but still impressive as hell)
Interesting you followed the old school wrestling. Props.

Yeah, as bad as WCW was in the end, there was the potential to revive it and use it pull ratings again even inside the WWE. They screwed it up. And they then turned around and did the same thing with the ECW brand.

The "wrestle wars" between WWE and WCW was the best wrestling since the territories. I doubt wrestling will ever be great again.

ECW was a lot of fun when they were touring around doing the small arena's and bingo halls and high-schools. (Pre WWF involvement).

I loved ECW. Their downfall was trying to "one up" the last week's episode by doing something even more extreme every week. Eventually the fans are bored because they expect even more dangerous stunts that can't be pulled off without killing someone on the roster. The old territories knew how to milk a crowd and do just enough to keep them coming back while saving the extreme stuff for big events.

You have a lot of guys with legit amateur backgrounds who go into “Wrasslin’” because there is no other professional Avenue. There’s MMA but careers tend to be short and you get beat up for real:
These guys are in the WWE now:
The Kasper brothers were born in Lexington, Ohio.[3] They attended Lexington High School, where they both competed in amateur wrestling.[4]
Jacob Kasper attended Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, where he studied sociology, graduating in 2018.[5] During his time at Duke University, he participated in collegiate wrestling for the Duke Blue Devils. He was a two-time National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) All-American and a three-time NCAA Academic All-American, and won the 2018 Atlantic Coast Conference heavyweight championship. He set a Blue Devils record for the most wins in a single season and ranked second for overall career wins.[6] He participated in the 2016 Olympic trials in the Greco-Roman and freestyle categories,[7] placing fifth.[6] In 2017, he trained with mixed martial artist Daniel Cormier to help Cormier prepare for his bout with Jon Jones at UFC 214.[6] In 2018, he began working for Duke University as an assistant wrestling coach.[8][9]
Drew Kasper attended Otterbein University in Westerville, Ohio, where he majored in exercise science, graduating in 2020. During his time at Otterbein University he competed in collegiate wrestling for the Otterbein Cardinals, with an overall record of 108–13. He was a two-time NCAA Division III All-American. In his final year, Kasper had a perfect 30–0 record and was ranked number one in the United States, but did not compete in the 2020 NCAA championships due to their cancellation as a result of the COVID-19 pandemic.[3]

The guy is Chad Gable in WWE:
Betts was a Minnesota high school state champion. (2004) [13] He defeated Jordan Holm 2 to 0 in the final of the 2012 U.S. Olympic Trials in the 84 kg category.[14] He progressed to the 2012 Summer Olympics, where he competed in the Greco-Roman style 84kg event. He defeated Keitani Graham from the Federated States of Micronesia in the qualification round. He was eliminated from the competition in

Why wouldn't the Kasper brothers go into WWE? They chose stupid degrees where if there are any jobs in those areas they don't pay anything.
It's sad that the scholarship money is wasted on stupid degrees.

At this point, Vince should not publicly come back to the WWE. Hopefully, it's not his ego driving this.
Or is this just a rumor? Let his daughter and his son in law keep the power structure, as is.
They are more than capable.
Vince, enjoy the empire you built, from a retired point of view.

Reasonable suggestion, but empire builders aren't hard-wired to leisurely play 18 holes or a bit of wordle or MNF to pass the time, or they wouldn't have built their empire in the first place, its that relentless drive that made them so
Sans a metaphorical mountain to climb and the cut and thrust of daily business life there is a void
Even the ones going the Charity Away Their Fortune route, if you scratch the surface a bit, its really about having another competitive challenge (I want to give away more than the other guy or make it work better and have a better legacy)
In addition Vinnie Mac has struggled for success when he has ventured outside of his wrestling cash cow, so retuning to wwe makes sense on that front as well, for him at least

The only empire you ever built was a pyramid of beer cans on your mom's coffee table, you fat fucking drunkard.
