Exactly that....

First few weeks of the war in Ukraine it was 24 hour news coverage in the UK, now it barely gets a mention.

Because the L in isil stood for the Levant which is a term to describe the middle east as a whole including Israel. The implication being that Israel was contributing to this problem with their foreign policies and relationship with their surrounding muslim neighbors. Where isis more appropriately centered the name and the blame on syria and iraq.
