There was this Lego torso structurally challenged short stack.
But damn if he couldn’t achieve dry condition.
-
Far better than Branch the troll IMO.

Damn - Rich looks good there. I can honestly say I've never seen that shot before.
Yes, Rich tended to look blocky at heavier body weights. It was like he kept a small waist up to 210-lb, but anything beyond that, and his waist was noticeably wider.
Rich was 222-lb in 1987, and 208.5-lb in 1988.

X2. Gaspari looked way better.
-
And Rich kept a full head of hair!

Gaspari vs Belknap, who wins

Gaspari vs Belknap, who wins
I`d say Belknap.....just because although he was also short his build had a better flow to it.

He actually looks good there.
Yeah he does, but later on he became an abomination of a science experiment who got gifted titles IMO.
Can you tell I`m not a fan. :D

Gaspari did it first but I don’t think he’s that much better than Branch. If they were competing in the same age I think they’d have similar physiques. Branch has a better structure generally, he was just sort of a victim of the times .
If he was a contemporary of Gaspari and relied on AAS more than gh/insulin, as well as incorporating more machines and less “slag iron” I think he would have had a very nice physique throughout his career, like what we see him present as a teen
Conversely, If Gaspari came up in the shadow of Ronnie and been tossing weights around like a construction worker, and grew on an all-you-can-eat hormona buffet I think he would have looked worse than Branch.

Good points.
We`ve all seen it before with modern day guys, they looked great coming up then in an effort to get monstrous size to be competitive they ruin their builds.
I guess it comes with the territory if you want to compete with todays mass monsters.

Branch looked great early in his career.
A lot of guys did in his era.
All the GH/Slin abuse ruined their physiques to chase the size game.
