Its a good question mr wes. I work abroad and return home omce a week usually. On those many hour long drives i think many deep thoughts. I was thinking about maybe one day i need to come out of physical retirement and attempt to exercise again. I used to lift weights but i never was in shape in the military sense of the word. Maybe i must take up running and some high volume calisthenics, so that i am physically ready for the apocalypse. It would mean be ready for life in the mountains of tibet, the jungle of colombia, like a true survivor warrior not a blown up pin cushion full of dirty chinese gear.
Any ideas or suggestions?

First of all, thanks for reminding me of the love of Jesus our messiah. I too love you my fellow man.
Now how does one take up building up ones stamina for running? Everytime I have tried, I stopped after 1 or 2 sessions. So boring and so challenging. Its not like lifting weights where you get a sick pump etc that is psychologically stimulating

The only times I ever ran was from either the cops or from a jealous husband......sorry. :)

When i first joined here in 2003 or so, it was to get bigger and stronger
No bodybuilding competition aspirations whatsoever
I just "did what i loved" for Lent

But surely you understand that in apocalypse or even civil war (which is coming according to macro economic analysis), those without stamina will be at a disadvantage. I was never in the military but in the documentaries about the military the instructors always focus on stamina not on strength. Its because once you gas out, you are dead meat, sitting duck, a deer in headlights,...
Maybe I will run while listening to audiobook of revelations and also gospel music to inspire

I don't really give a shit about building muscle these days. I'd need drugs to do it, and I wouldn't qualify for TRT anyway. As long as I can always run at least four miles at a reasonable pace, stay fairly lean, and go hiking with some weight on my back, I consider myself fit. Weightlifting is just a routine part of my life that I enjoy. Stuffing my face and all the other shit that comes with bodybuilding doesn't appeal to me.
-
Maybe we can together design a perfect "apocalyptic fitness routine" and follow it together and motivate eachother with updates and tips etc. Like we would make a big thread where we lay out the objectives and program structure. Then make like a workout of the day or week program which we try to follow together. Ideally it must start very easy so evryone can get to the same level. And by page 1000 we will all be able to run a marathon, do 20 pull ups, 100 pushups etc
Who is with me?

Honestly at this point I don’t know what I want out of my training, I don’t really know why I even train sometimes. It’s nice being big and strong but it eats up a lot of my free time. For the future I just want to maintain a good weight and plenty of strength but I see no reason to push my limits anymore, I can’t think of one good reason except ego which will lead to injuries.
-
at my age I only have short term goals
-
I just love the training. I want to do it as long as I can.
No real goals at this age, except better condition. (The interval/sweating to the oldies stuff is helping).
The heart is the bodies most important muscle.
Holding some strength at this age is fun, gives me something to battle against. (Aging related strength-loss).
-
My goal is to be able to perform at least one exercise on the rings which involves having control & real whole body strength.
I have started 6 months ago with doing basic dumbbell exercises and so far my shoulders feel much better than they used. It will take at least another 12 to manifest viable progress.
-
Longevity and health are my long term goals. Six years ago I changed my training and stopped driving myself nuts with size and strength.
I stopped pulverizing my body with compressive barbell exercises, which means no back squats and no standard deadlifts. Leg training has been mostly unilateral exercises such as reverse lunges, split squats, single leg RDL’s, GHR’s, back extensions, and trap-bar deadlifts. Everything else is dumbbells and weighted calisthenics (including ones on rings or Blast Straps). I also do some med ball exercises to maintain some power.
I do a total of 150 to 180 min per week of Zone 2 cardio per week, either jogging or Panata treadmill, some swimming in summer. I lift three times per week.
I’m weigh 30 pounds less than my biggest but I feel amazing in my mid 40’s. When I was my biggest I felt the shittiest.
-
Short term...bang as much pussy in summer
Long term.. to live through the winter to bang more pussy in the summer
fixed
-
To not look like shit like 90% of people my age.
And to be healthy and pain free and reasonably fit with some strength.

I want to be healthy....contrary to my former lifestyle, tanned, ripped to shreds with full muscles and win my pro-card in a year and a half in Pittsburgh......if I die,I die !
I`m on a fucking mission.
I missed my NABBA pro-card by one point. :(

I saw a reel of one Indian guru saying if you can get up from a sitting position on the floor without using your hands you are good as far as fitness goes. I haven't even tried if I can do it :)

Keep my hint of abs, and look good in a 3x Polo shirt.
Gives the ladies., the sense that I can hold the cave.
Might even find some gold and diamonds, while I'm at it.

Turning 38 years old,
Currently almost single digit bf (abs getting visible when unflexed)…been ~8% before but didn’t (couldn’t) stay there…dieting on/off 5-6 years so I have experience dieting.
Short term: develop daily routine to maintain the lifestyle needed to stay lean year round (specifically, right now I’m working on getting up very early every morning for cardio, and trying to blunt hunger [EC stack, lots of water and zero calorie drinks, extra cardio helps blunt appetite, etc)
Long term: the hard part - carry it out indefinitely, until it’s like breathing.
Big props to those here who can do this, especially the older guys!
Any advice would be great (especially tricks to deal with hunger, Wes must know some!)

Wow,that`s hard to do props brother.
Here`s what I always did to curb appetite......of course eating clean, burning off more cals than you are taking in,training fast with very little rest, and eating good high quality protein is all very important.
Giant-Sets,Tri-Sets,Super-Sets,Drop-Sets,Down The Rack,Rest Pause.....anything that increases training intensity is great to do......Google these if you are unaware of what they are.....thank me later.
Use heavy weights for higher reps but never at the expense of good form.
Look up my article "Carb Cycling For Fat Loss"....it`s all over the web....bb.com has it.
OK,first thing after you wake up drink 12-16 oz, of water.....everyone should do this actually.
Drink 16 oz. of water with every meal and try to drink water all day.....I have found that the more you drink, the more you`ll excrete.....even well beyond the amount you took in.
If you are starving:
Air popped popcorn with artificial butter spray,no salt and drink water or Crystal-Lite with it as the liquid makes the pop corn expand creating a sensation of being full.
Sugar-free jello
I always allowed myself to eat as many fibrous simple carb vegetables and salads with lemon juice as I wanted to in an effort to feel satiated.
Good fats, although they are calorie dense, they also provide a feeling of satiety.....go easy though because of the calories....plus you need fat to manufacture Testosterone.
Buy a good nutrition book that lists the calorie content of every food and count them, and if you are so inclined.....measure your food on a food scale.....I can eyeball stuff as a rule and only eat certain foods anyway but this may help you out just the same.
I don`t know if this is true, but I read it somewhere and it said that the body actually burns more calories to digest a leafy salad than the salad actually contains.......never bothered me when I did/do it so it`s worth a try.
Unsalted rice cakes as a snack when you`re starving with sugar free jelly.
I had a buddy of mine back when all they made was plain rice cakes.....no flavoring and they tasted like styrofoam......he says to me"You know you`te dieting hard when a fucking rice cake tadtes like a treat". :)
Also, use Pam or fat-free cooking spray, always steam, bake,or broil as opposed to frying food.
Brush your teeth often when you get cravings....just do it cuz it truly works.
I`m sure I`ve missed a ton of stuff but check this thread often as I will add to it as the tips come to mind.
Good luck bud......stay on point buddy. :)
-
Do not eat bread, mayo, any fatty condiments,sugar.....use Stevia.....personally when trying to get leaner I eat no dairy foods at all......no processed food....read food labels.....have a periodic junk day as I believe this resets your metabolism.
I would at times eat super clean on M,T,and W.....have one junk meal on Th. eat clean for the rest of the meals though, and then clean again on Fr. and Sat. and a full blown day of eating whatever I wanted to in moderation of course on Sunday......this will help you from going nuts!! ;D
Some of this may be bro-science but the mind is your most powerful muscle and I fervently believed in what I typed that it worked for me.
Where your mind goes, your ass will follow to a degree of course.

This is just what worked well for me.....it`s not carved in stone.

Treat hunger as a friend not an enemy
When you are hungry thats when your body is using the fat for fuel.
If you want to stay in shape then hunger must be welcomed not feared

Yes, levers and Co.
But it's a long way until the shoulders are robust enough to be able to withstand that kind of punishment - especially if you're an old(er) fart.

And win a strict curl contest.
And squat 225 X 13 on videotape.
And sell Shizzo's ass to a recently released prisoner for a pack of Kool menthols.

Can you tell me who the author of the Bible was.....Steven King or Dean Koontz or Tom Clancy or Ron L. Hubbard or Dr. Suess ?
Wes that is a great question! There is no one person who wrote the Bible, there are multiple different authors who recorded events in their respective books.
the Bible is a collection of accounts/events from the “people” who “lived” through the events (except for the book of Genesis with the story of creation, is credited to Moses who didn’t live through the time period). Each book is a personal history of that persons experience..

There are bad people in every walk of life Sarge, child molesters and money grubbing are not limited to the church. Where there is power there will often be corruption.
If these deplorable actions were exclusive to christianity I'd agree with you, unfortunately there are bad agents who infiltrate every walk of life from church to education to LE to the corporate world.
That said if you dont see value in biblical principles so be it.

This shit works. I lost 75 pounds, by using a cheat day. How is that possible? It's because you are doing the right thing, the other 6 days. Pizza, chicken wings, ice cream cake. That's a cheat day, and it gives your body an influx of calories.

I thought it was rewritten by people in Constantinople?
When you say rewritten do you mean altered or copied? The New Testament letters are considered well documented as to their origins. I guess it’s still boils down to having faith in that process as well.
