^^^ Part 2
Nice vids
But why does his voice sound like that? “Let’s go, you lazy devil”
Very odd sounding voice
I still prefer Aaron Bakers voice
-
What's his back story? Did he start bb older and that's why he was competing at such an old age?
-
Good Grief...here we go again... Wes living in the past. Still wearing scrunchie socks over his crazie wear and LA Gear's.
WHO CARES ABOUT ALBUR BECHAM.

Competed since the early 1960`s I believe.
There has always been controversy over his true age...Matt C. can elaborate on this.
-
Beckles is still alive I think?? 90 or so??

Yes sir.
This deserves clarification:
Albert Beckles, for whatever reason, claimed to be born in 1930. The evidence he had, according to IFBB historian Joe Roark, was a passport with half of the 8 scratched out from 1938.
By the time of the 1985 Night of Champions, he was being touted as a 55-year-old.
But no.
His year of birth is 1938. That still made him 50 at the 1988 Mr. Olympia, and 53 when he won the Niagara Falls Grand Prix in 1991.
What he did was amazing, but he did it all up to age 53, as opposed to age 61.
He would be 93 this year if he was born in 1930. Which is amazing. Heck, even him being 85 this year in reality is amazing.
On Musclemayhem in 2004, someone claimed that Beckles was pressing the 125's.
That's strong for any age - let alone 66!
-
Beckles had a great look. Very lean and dry.

I remember this well.
They had his real age in the mags up until around 1984 when Rick Wayne suddenly revealed he was 52 when he was still really 45.
He had a book come out around that time maybe that was the angle.
A quick search online of public records shows he is in his mid 80’s.
-
Albert Beckles was living and training in Germany for quite some time I think. In this interview JP Fux tells a story of how he went to Munich just to watch him train, and that Albert was training like a pussy but literally all day long ;D

You know, jwb - what I find funny is that it was still very impressive for Beckles to have done what he did between the ages of 45-53.
But with the age change, it went from "very impressive" to literally unheard of. And I guess that's how Beckles wanted it.
I didn't know that bit about Rick Wayne. Perhaps he was friends with Wayne, or perhaps Wayne himself was duped.
Either way, I feel that the 1930 birth date story has been sufficiently refuted. Beckles will be 85 this year, which still makes him the oldest Olympian ever. :o

the article revealing his “real age” was definitely written by Rick.

I watched a 3 part series on Rick Wayne just last week on John Hansens channel.....he was a friend of Als of course.
Wayne is still very alert and as articulate as always.....one of the best bb writers in the game and was a bodybuilder who was light years ahead of his time.

Albert would crush Fux on stage at anytime with ease.
Fux is the man though, but on a whole different level than Beccles.
