This might seem like a ridiculous question, but do you think that they could’ve benched 405 for 20 reps?

absolutely. Steve did 5 reps with six plates in a t-shirt. he trained with kazmeier and jeff everson at the universary of Wisconsin. when i could bench 4 plates for seven i could do over 20 with 3 plates. i heard Davey could bench 5 plates for ten but i never personally witnessed it.

here's steve on his own and with a bunch of hall of famers. recognize a few?

no i stood in the periphery of monsters. Kaz, Arcidi, Mark Coleman, Disalvo, the bulldogs, the Anvil, all lived in calgary at times.
i think every one of them had over a 500 bench, even Dynamite kid at under 250 lbs, and nobody would fuk with him ever.
Edit. Mark Henry not Coleman. Sorry
-
I beg to differ but you are a humble person concerning your accomplishments.... a tip Hanky should take from you.

Mark Coleman could bench 500?
-
Mark Coleman could bench 500?
actually no. shoulder issues. maybe when he was 19. but not when he was in calgary. sorry i should have pointed that out. squats were insane tho.
Edit. Sorry meant mark henry.
-

If he could even bench 405, that would be crazy for a UFC fighter.
-
Davey Boy married one of Stu Hart's daughters. He and the Dynamite kid were not very tall if memory sserves me. I think the Dynamte Kid is no longer with us. Too bad. :-[

no, he's gone. his son Harry is rasslin, spitting image of Davey, but about 6'2

Christ that's his life? Edit: he's gone, now. What a shitty way to end up.
Fuck that bullshit.

no, he died...that was 2016, he lived just down the road from me.

Bro. I feel for the guy. I'm no hero and I think I'd struggle to do it but if it's between that and a bullet through the skull: i'm digging that thing up out the park and taking the bullet. Even if I've got to ask my nephew to dig it up for me. No fucking chance. :( Poor guy.

Did you ever cross paths with him and remind him that it didn’t matter what he accomplished in the past all that matters is how he looked now?

Dynamite Kids last match

that's horrible. can you find a vid of him in his prime?? he could pop the audience like no one else..

He was in the gym I used to train in Leigh around 1988 while visiting his family
Gym owner said he was strong, 4 plates a side benching for reps
-
Yeah both were strong af.
Dynamite died on his 60th birthday in 2018. Wasn't he (the smaller dawg) regarded as the tougher / bigger badass one or something like that?
I'm confused..
Wasn't their finishing move: Davey o'head pressing Dynamite then throwing him for a diving headbutt on their opponent?
If so then try find a pic or anything about it online. It doesn't exist ???
-
According to Bret Hart, Dynamite Kid was the most talented wrestler he worked with in his career.
It went rapidly downhill for Dynamite Kid after a back injury in 1986, he continued to wrestle which did more damage, eventually damaging the nerves going to his legs and putting him in a wheelchair.

Davey Boy was bigger and stronger than dynamite, but no one was as intense as dynamite. i remember when my roommate was rasslin dynamite beat the fug outta the ref in the dressing room when he suggested the kid drop a match. blood everywhere. and the ref was Carrie Brown, a fairly large rassler himself.
no one would mess with him in the dressing room, he'd probably wipe the floor with all of them, except oddly bad news allen/brown, who was legit tough.

Dynamite Kid was about 5'8 and Davey Boy about 5'10 but also with a bigger frame.

Cool stuff.
I love reading about who were the legit/toughest badasses back in the WWF days and hearing all the behind-the-scenes stories. Spent hours on youtube watching all the vids..
Haku, Rick Rude, U.Taker.....

Hazbin please share some Brett Hart stories! Also he was pretty vocal about how he hated the bodybuilding lifestyle/industry. Any stories about that?

Jim Neidhart was legit world class strong. drafted by the Oakland Raiders, internationally ranked shot putter. and he was invited to the worlds strongest man
competition in the early 80s. but when the regular top five heard he was invited they boycotted and said they would not compete if he was in it.
miss him, spent lots of crazy nights partying together.

Bret is a straight up good guy. spent a lot of time with him and never saw him take even a drink of alcohol ever.
it's a paradox that he hated bodybuilders but we were pretty good friends. but i always said i'm not a bodybuilder, it's just something i did.
i don't know how he and the Anvil travelled and roomed together for years. you couldn't meet two more different individuals.

Really?
I met Jim just over 10 years ago, super nice dude. I was surprised how normal he looked. He wasn’t tall or “huge”.

He was going to punch and destroy Shawn Michaels (Heartbreak Kid) after the Screwjob right?
Did he ever punch any other wrestler backstage?

No not that I know of. Bret was extremely mellow. But he did knock out Vince McMahon that night as well

I always thought his take was interesting since it was his dad who broke in guys like SS Billy Graham. I’m assuming the experience with the WBF also shaped his views.

LOL what a life… but for all the success the guy has had a tremendous amount of tragedy.
