I am taking an iron supplement as well as being allowed to eat some beef now due to being anemic but that's pretty much it for me. All the medicine I have to take is enough to depress me, LOL!
Years ago I used to take all kinds of supplements until I realized I was broke because of spending so much money on them. When I stopped I didn't feel any worse so I just don't take anything unless my doctors tell me to. Hence the iron supplement! ;D

Vit.C
Vit.D
Papaya Enzymes
ACV
I need to buy some chelated minerals,Vit. E,B Complex,L-Arginine,and I think I`ll go back to my youth and give good old nasty tasting Brewers Yeast another shot.
-
I take protein powder after workouts.
I eat a lot of fish, eggs, beef, chicken, turkey, shellfish, etc.
Low carbs.
No dairy.
That's it.

I use a shit load of "health" supplements. I would take even more but the cost is too much even now. Are they doing anything? Hard to measure, you can't really. For example if I'm taking CoQ10 how do I know it's helping my heart in any way?
-

None. Used to take creatine and protein and it was messing with my GI system. Haven't noticed much of a difference off of them.
Tried arginine for a few weeks many years ago but all it did was make my veins look nice. Didn't do anything for lifts or size so I stopped taking it.

I hear you,it`s like being on several compounds of gear....you really aren`t too sure which one is working for you.

Creatine is the only one you can "feel" IMO.
I'm getting blood work soon, so I'll see if these test boosters did jack shit. No idea, actually doubtful, but I feel strong.

Thanks,I`ll look into it whatever it is ???

CoQ-10
Vit K2-D3

ZMA before bed...
Does it work for you?
Wes, I honestly don't know... like you, never been a great sleeper. Supposed to be great for recovery. I still take it anyway for the zinc and magnesium. Usually has B6 or 12. The one i have now has D3, B6, Folic Acid and L-Theanine.

Thanks,I`ll look into it whatever it is ???
"magnesium glycinate is one of the most common magnesium supplements used for achieving better sleep"
"Magnesium glycinate is often used for its calming effects to treat anxiety, depression, and insomnia."

I was taking either or coated aspirin or baby aspirin daily for eons but when I had my Gall Bladder issue they said my blood was too thin so I stopped ???

These days I take only two:
1. Magnesium Glycinate to prevent muscle cramps, promote better sleep and better digestion.
2. LMNT electrolytes for hydration and as a pre-workout energy boost.
My animal-based (fatty meats, whole eggs, dairy) keto diet provides everything else I need. No need to supplement anything else.

Quercetin, probiotic, turmeric, vitamin d, omega 3s

Thanks,I`ll look into it whatever it is ???
I would use Magnesium Threonate but it's expensive.
If I was in the US I would go nuts on this site:
https://nootropicsdepot.com/magtein-magnesium-l-threonate-capsules/
I would buy the powder forms and cap different mixtures lol.

Yup, I used to get muscle cramps often at night too, in my calves. Since I started taking 3 daily capsules of Pure magnesium glycinate several years ago, I haven't had a single cramp since.
-
Cool,I eat all of the above, except shellfish ....I omit dairy before I compete but eat a lot of cottage cheese, yogurt, cheese to an extent, and milk here and there....not much though.
I really like shrimp and scallops.
I've noticed when i don't eat dairy products i have better digestion.
The last 2 months i've been trying to do the carnivore diet, but i have found it to be very hard with my work and travel schedule. It has helped me get leaner without much else changing.
I'm all about health these days, not much weight lifting, but i try to train 2-3 days a week. Lots of hiking and biking on the weekends.
-

My fingers and toes actually lock up and I have to use the uncramped hand to pull my fingers apart.
As far as my toes go,I have to get out of bed and stand putting my bodyweight on them.
Thanks brother! :

I love scallops....sorry I spaced out but don`t care for shrimp or lobster.
Lobsters look at you when you eat them, the only thing I like looking at me when I eat is a hot blonde! :D

Quercetin, probiotic, turmeric, vitamin d, omega 3s
Josh how is Tumeric.....I never tried it but it`s advertised everywhere.
-
Quercetin, probiotic, turmeric, vitamin d, omega 3s
On that note, I also add/sprinkle cayenne pepper powder on just about everything I cook.
Regular salt, lite salt, pepper, cayenne pepper and Italian herbs blend/combo in my pasta sauce or chicken stir-fry......

I take a tumeric supplement. Haven't had sore joints since.
Fish oil
A zinc, magnesium, vit D, vit C supplement.
Occasionally I'll take a CoQ10 (ubiquinol) supplement. But it3costly so I only use it when I come across a good deal.
I take a hi-tech supplement called liver RX. It's mainly milk thistle but has NAC, and ALA and actually costs less than standard milk thistle.
I take a prostate supplement which is mostly saw palmetto. Last time I had blood work done that was the only marker that was a tad out of range.
Recently started a prebiotic, probiotic, post biotic formula only because a 3 month supply was given to me. But what the hell apparently gut health is super important. So we'll see.
Over the years I've used just about every supplement available.
For those not sleeping. You can look up Somatomax. You'll sleep like a baby and feel fucking fantastic the next day. BUT be careful. The main ingredient is phenibut the shit is addictive. If you use it too many days in a row you have to use more and more to get the same effect. And if you use it every day you will feel like crap when you stop taking it.

isnt turmeric amazing? I had to crawl when I got out of bed,...thene 30 days after starting turmeric I had zero pain, I still cant get over how well it works
-
Thanks doc,I used to take Glucosamine Chondrotate (sp),and that stuff worked well.

100% agree. I went through a few bottles because I kept reading all the benefits including anti inflamatory. After a couple of weeks all my joint pain went away. It had been getting pretty severe in my shoulders (from benching like a dumbfuck).
I honestly thought 'well it could be a coincidence. Maybe they healed because I stopped benching or whatever.. " after running out of turmeric the pain came back after just a few workouts. Picked up more turmeric and presto. Joints feel great again. It's a staple now. A must really
Thanks doc,I used to take Glucosamine Chondrotate (sp),and that stuff worked well.

Turmeric 95. You can buy it online for 20 - 25 bucks. 60 servings. Ive checked the dosage and price point with other brands and it's a decent value. Though NOW may have a cheaper option iirc it was dosed lower.
95% curcuminoids. 500 mgs daily.
Cock not included.

Mag threonate / l theanine / suntheanine is the sleep combo. Google Andrew Huberman sleep cocktail
Grape, just looked this up. These three work by activating the gaba receptor. That's what phenibut is: a gabamanergic. Same as gabapentin.
Both work for me. Almost too well. Thenext day I'm completely recharged. And to a degree almost high. Music sounds better. Absolutely no anxiety. I mean the results are profound. Whenever I take either, Im guaranteed a solid 7 or 8 hours sleep. And workouts are a blast, holy shit! 20 years ago me and a buddy would add vicodin to the eca stack and I felt like I could walk through a brick wall. I get a similar euphoria with phenibut.
But I limit it's use to one day a week or once every 2 weeks would be better. Otherwise the side effects are a bitch.
How well does Hubermans sleep cocktail work? And are there any negative effects?
*Hubermans podcasts are great. There's a ton of good info in his series.

Thanks for that.
I did it for a couple months, had no side effects, and actually looked forward to sleep - mostly due to the fact I knew the dreams were going to be wild (think this is the l theanine).
However, I tended to sleep ok, so the incremental benefit wasn't worth the $70/mth for me. It's not big $, but I'm a deal hound on everything.
However, I love the site microingredients, who have amazing sales, so I just picked up a bag of the theanine to hit it again. Majority of supps come from them now.

Phenibut works insanely well. It's almost too good to be true, that they haven't yanked it. You will sleep on it. Anxiety almost goes to zero (if you end up in a situation that will cause trauma it's like you don't react at all when on phenibut. It's almost disturbing), you get high with high with self confidence. But it's an extremely addictive compound. Jordan Peters said it should be illegal, that you can die from the withdrawals. I have used it in large amounts for over 10 years. I haven't developed a tolerance, the reverse is true for me. I get high off of a single 500mg capsule. But getting off is a bitch.
Phenibut is very similar to the drug Lyrica. These are both gabapentinoids.

Glucosamine/ chondrotin & fish oil

I'm bald on top and shave so I don't know really.
When I first used it, I took it like it was candy, not knowing any better. I just didn't think anything legal could be so powerful. I was walking around high as a kite and not realizing it, by and large because of the extreme self assurance that comes with it.
There were a few reasons why I tapered off but probably the biggest one was hair shedding. The hair grew back once I stopped but if it wasn't for the hair loss I don't know if I would have ever stopped.

If I was wealthy there's a risk I would go overboard with 30 or 50 different products. Take antioxidants for example. I often take a combo of NAC, Vitamin C, Lipoic acid. This combo is very powerful, probably too effective to even take everyday, mostly on account of the NAC. Actually I've added CoQ10, Shilajit and melatonin and taurine in my nightly anti-ox stack lol. But then you start looking and you can easily take another 20 antioxidants, each looks, on paper, better than the other. That Astaxanthin looks good, all those fruit extracts, blueberry, cherry, quercetin and numerous others. At some point it will start working against you. Oh yeah, that injectable glutathione look nice as well lol Just NAC and/or Vitamin C will actually lower adaptation to a training routine. I take it at night, as far from a workout as possible, but it might still be counterproductive. It's impossible to know, for some it might help especially if they have a known/unknown health problem with high oxidative stress, for some it may be useless or even harmful.
Then you look at other classes of supplements. First you take a multivitamin/mineral, then you think you might need extra Vitamin D and Magnesium (there are a few forms that each look attractive). And on and on, the supplements start piling up. Would for me if I was wealthy, then you're taking 100 different things like some paranoid freak lol.

Can you elaborate about "working against you" for the quercetin and stuff?

Cool bud,thanks....that`s a laundry list for health.
It's for health and recovery. I need it more as I'm a couple of months from the big 5-0.
I divide it into three basic categories:
Testosterone support: DHEA, ALC, Tribulus, Tongkat Ali, Vitamin D.
Growth Hormone/nighttime recovery support: Arginine, Lysine, Glutamine, HMB
Insulin support/Cell volumization: ALA, chromium, Bitter Melon (not mentioned earlier), Glutamine, lots of simple sugar after workouts.
Thankfully, I have sources where I can get clearance or "expired" vitamins fairly cheap.

Bump for a couple of comments-
Low dose daily tadalifil at 5mg from an Indian pharmacy, and thank me later
Just picked up some. Other than the obvious whats to be gained from this?
I also picked up the Huberman sleep cocktail. I ordered the brand that he endorses, double wood.
It's been really good. Very reliable sleep and Ive had chronic insomnia for over a decade. I've been getting a solid 7 hours every night since I started taking it.
My only criticism is the magnesium threonate is 4 pills for a serving. Just being thrifty that will run through the bottle in about 3 1/2 weeks. So tried dosing with 2 pills and not surprisingly did not work at all. Then dosed with 3 pills and sleep improved a lot. But 4 pills or 2 grams of magnesium threonate is the sweet spot.

Aside from the middle school boners, better blood flow everywhere and lower blood pressure on the heart as well as increased androgen receptor density and a better pump in the gym
I’ve been using magnesium glycinate from Costco since it’s cheaper and absorbs well. I guess he recommends threonate or bisglycinate, but it seems to help me. It’s probably just the other pills doing the job

No reason to use it at all if you value your health.

There's been a lot of discussion over the dosage, because I think Huberman mentioned 400mg of threonate, but people were unsure if he was referring to the threonate dosage (which would be 1 pill) or the elemental magnesium (which would take 3-4).
However, having utilized the threonate/l theanine / suntheanine with success, I eventually stopped because the incremental cost to benefit ratio didn't seem worth it.
I utilize a combo of zinc / glycine / magnesium glycinate / l-theanine ($17 for a YEAR'S supply at micro ingredients) and it feels about the same. I think the l-theanine is the key here, & mag glyc is recommended for sleep. I think the l-theanine is key, and I'm certain it affects dreaming.
I utilize a garmin that tracks sleep, and it tells me my deep/rem is always good, but I get dinged for duration.

Magnesium, helps me fall asleep at night
Vitamin D in the winter months
Finasteride, keeps my coat shiny and full ;D
-
My cocktail 10mg indica capsule and one CBN capsule.
I stopped consuming cannabis and I feel better generally but I miss the dreamless sleep I’d get. My dreams have been insanely vivid and wake me up 1-2x a night. Theoretically I’m getting more restful sleep since weed interferes with REM sleep cycles (hence the lack of dreams) but it’s enough to make me wanna start back up
I’ll give it another month or two to see if things calm down but if not I might have to start back up

They use it in studies to induce anxiety.
Very special case supplement, only useful if one is already at 10% body fat and wants to go lower.

I see people talking about Ashgwanda and lions mane all the time....
Whenever I see some new natural supplement I equate it to Tribulus.
What are these supposed to help with?
Ive seen them in natural test boosters , Ive also seen them used for anxiety / stress relief?
I took some supplement about 3 or 4 years ago that had these in it and felt nothing. If I remember it was supposed to be a test booster with some kind of pre workout effect...had kanna or canna in it too......I didn't notice a thing.

My mistake! ;D
I use this stuff from Doctor’s Best, been using it for years. Dunno if it’s the optimal formulation but it seems to work (help me fall asleep at night or for naps) and my bowel movements stay firm so I assume it’s not all getting pooped out. Reasonable price, as well.

Ah yes, glycinate...perfect.
When I first heard of magnesium for sleep, I bought some. Never knew there were different ones. Took me two months to connect the dots on why I started shitting liquid every morning. Was taking mag citrate, a laxative.

They do have effects. Lately some have claimed they are potentially dangerous and life changing (negatively). It used to be that these were thought of as completely benign and would do nothing. Studies have confirmed a number of effects for these supps.
The supplement industry is so dirty you can't know if your supplement is legit, that's the big problem with these and all supps. The two most known ashwagandha brands are patented Sensoril and KSM-66 extract. Users report different effects for these two and it's very possible depending on what constituents they are standardised for. But then you have some chemist on Reddit saying the Sensoril isn't what it's claimed to be, he didn't even see any plant DNA in the samples. So as a consumer you are confused.
I have used ashwagandha sometimes over a 20 year period. I might try the newest "Shoden" extract.
Many or most traditional supplements and plant "drugs" have similar effects to what which they traditionally have been used for. I think it's amazing that people have managed to find these "cures" before any "science."

tried to decipher what you wrote i guess in a nutshell these get on the shelves sometimes under the radar and are suppossed to do one thing but could cause potential effects not what was originally intended to do..its tricky .

Well these herbs weren't "under the radar" because they are completely legal as they are "food" really and legal. But what has happened is that a few guys have reported severe sides like extreme depression and permanent impotence, sometimes from the first pill! It's almost impossible to know if these symptons were due to the supps but you never know. So these guys are like "why was I not warned, now my life is ruined!" They weren't warned because probably no one heard of such reactions.
One negative that has sort of spread through the net and many started "noticing" is a kind of demotivational effect with ashwagandha and bacopa for example. Is this reaction "real" or is it imaginary?
Like I've always said, there's really no difference between a "supplement" and a drug. Creatine can be a drug but it's also a natural supplement.
I'd like to try this creatine drug. Probably doesn't work any better than monohydrate though.
