“Nicely equipped.
Well I could also give you a pass for a local gym that might be a little bigger. “
(Haven’t been yet)
Hotel gym is probably smallest I have ever seen any place I have stayed at. But picanha for two is $22USD. Food > Gym which is best when you aren’t here to work out anyway.

Won't go to Rio though
Too many favelas
Too much crime
-
Yeah, played a call of duty map located there, so I know to avoid.

LOL!!!!
Seriously it is like the entire map of Dying Light was based on this place.
Side Note : I downloaded season 1 of Dark and a couple movies. Then walked off and left my iPad on the desk. Ugh!

Are you in Ipanema? Heard COPA is pookie central now. Lula implementing VISA requirement given Stephanie and his feminist supporters are on his ass to clean up Bolsonaro's tourist fiasco. Thank God! I'll be visiting friends before or after Carnival 2024.

Carry about 250 reais on you to make it worth their time and effort.

I’ve been to three Carnivals so far. First one I ever went to tickets were starting at $10. Now they are $50 for ends, $3000 for the middle. Went to the factory where they make the Carnival floats and costumes today. Orders have to be placed 24 months in advance and full payment due 18 months before.

You move around more than the tourist spots. Go to Madureira with a local (safety). Sketchy with safety concerns but authentic life with street vendors and food plus a night club.
I don't need to see another Mardi Gras or Carnival in this lifetime.
Enjoy.

We have cheap and hot hookers, if you like the type. Also, try some farofa with your picanha and other cuts.

I do travel photography on the side for a friend that owns a high end travel company and arranges luxury vacations for groups. It is one week here, one week San Paulo. This isn’t on my list of ones I choose to do but the other photog is doing a Panama Canal cruise gig (which is also on my no-no list) so there was not an choice really.

Yeah. I’m lucky. I get to take dream vacations (well other people’s dream vacations) and get paid for it. I’ve had a lot of fun and met some great people over the years.
I’ll be in Japan in May, Paris in June and Seoul in July.
August is safari month and September is TransAtlantic crossing. Both gigs are ones I avoid.

I’m lucky for sure. I stumbled into this actually. I’ve seen places I never would have before. I’ve seen them places that I always wanted to which were better than I thought they would be, some didn’t live up to the hype. I’ve been to places I had absolutely no interest in at all and found out they were awesome. It’s been very impactful to my life.

I`m leary of third world countries for starters, but I`d probably choose England or Italy as my two top places.
-
I've never been anywhere (out of the US) myself. Except for Aruba a few times. (If that even counts).
And even that was 30 years ago. Homebody of peace...

Actually those two are on my Always Go list. There are some trips I will never pass up. Besides those two, France, Germany, Greece, Baltics, Switzerland.
A few places that I will always pass up : Isreal/Jordan/Egypt (been there more than once, no further interest), Mexico/Latin/South America, Africa and most of the cruise options.
One of the best trips I have ever done was when he put together an itinerary about WW2 history. It started in Normandy and followed the route that Americans took as they moved inland after the invasion. Covered a lot ground and small sites but some big ones too. Saw two of the concentration camps that were used near the end. Incredible experience.

At this point my own personal dream vacation would be to have these two weeks to go spend with my parents. Not to diminish these trips because they are basically other people’s dreams but after doing these multiple times some of the magic is gone.

I like the third world travels but once you've been to them once there isn't a strong pull to do a second trip. And you really appreciate the air quality in the big cities in USA and Europe versus big cities in Africa/Asia/South America.

I was thinking of doing one of the “Band of Brothers” tours summer 2024 if they do some anniversary type stuff. I wanted to go for the 100 year World War One stuff back in 2019 but couldn’t make it work. Went to Austria and Germany in spring of 2019 instead.
If this is your side gig, I assume you do some type of work from home thing as a full time job?

Greece is pretty amazing, especially from a food standpoint.
I imagine Italy is as well, but have not gone there.

I work full time with a large hospital network. Mostly from home but occasional office visits when I need talk to people regarding some of the data.
