Title: Journalism Usage Fee for Social Media Networks?

California is considering a bill where social media networks will be forced to pay news outlets a "usage fee" when their content is posted next to a platform ad. Good idea?

If they are reposting someone else's story and making money off of it then it seems ok. If it is just a link and a headline then no.

This is what blockchain is supposed to help fix.

Social media has more accounts who steal content and repost and earn money from advertising than those who actually create the content and don’t earn a cent.

youtube ‘reaction’ videos are all the rage. Can’t be fucked to create anything so they watch someone else’s video and talk over it and call it ‘content creation’.

I am 100% supportive of content creators being paid royalties and accounts who use that content should split the earnings with the creators. Patreon tries to solve this but we need blockchain to be the solution on the broad social media platforms.
