I have tickets for the two day at Gillette stadium, but really only care about seeing the Pantera tribute on day one.

Don't need to see a two day where 50% of the songs will be after the Black Album where they became all "just another forgettable Metallica song.

Caveat: All Nightmare Long off Death Magnetic is pretty epic.  There's a couple good ones on Hardwired and 72 Seasons, but nothing that will be considered beastly, or preferred to anything from AJFA and prior.

I’m headed to a three day music fest at the Coachella venue. AC/DC, Metallica, Ozzy Osbourne, Iron Maiden, Tool and G&R. My wife really wants to see G&R and I’m like “dude, have you even heard axl lately?” Should be a hoot.

Imagine telling somebody in 1993 that they'd be listening to these same damn bands in 2023.

That's Power Trip, right?

Yeah, that's an awesome lineup.

Bought RtL on its release day. Huge fan. Was very disappointed in the self-titled. Gripped Load, listened, and I then un-gripped my copy into my garbage can.

True story.

Met’s blown ass for over three decades.

Hahahahahahahahahahahaha ha

Thread derail here but has anyone seen Pantera live recently? I was thinking of jumping on a plane but the youtube videos I've seen are quite average

I love Zakk and Charlie, but this Pantera thing is completely dishonourable.

In no world would Vinnie or Dime (ESPECIALLY Vinnie) give this their OK.

Pantera tribute doesn't bug me.  I've seen Pantera at many a small venue (still have a 2 inch scar on my chest from one), and of course they can't replicate that.

But I am looking forward to hearing their music played live again, since it was something I really never thought I'd get the chance to do.

One thing  I don't like is that their fucking with Domination and not playing the whole song.

I can’t handle Zakk’s pinch harmonics

Listen to live recordings and watch live footage. There you go.

As far as this whole “reunion” farce, don’t call it that. Do not CALL IT PANTERA. Call it Far Beyond a Tribute or something.

ONLY a band with the Abbott Brothers in it can be called Pantera.

PERIOD.

I do.  Domination live Moscow is the greatest live performance video EVER.

But, whether they call it a tribute or not doesn't matter to me.  I can't control that, I can't stop it, so I'm going to go enjoy it.

That is a very apt name for the band: not Pantera but not a run-of-the-mill tribute band either.

Mine is not a slam, brother. I respect you, as you know. My feeling is my own. Hope it provides what you desire.

Me, I want my final live experience with Pantera to always have been PANTERA.

That Lars guy is a Grade A Certified A-hole

This.

He was trashing Jagger because didn’t want to be bothered by him while Jagger went to the gym at a hotel hours  before  a concert ( Metallica was the opening act for the Stones)

Jagger did offer a photo op for band and staff  ( not just him )  but after the concert.

Lars said he wouldn’t treat a band opening for them in such inhuman way” .
Which is totally BS.

All good - never took it as a slam at all, just discussion!  To each his own, always.

I can understand your feelings.  But, as my last show seeing them was 25 years ago (?) I only have snippets of memories.

One being Phil said he was pissed security said nobody could be on stage and if anyone could get there, he'd let them stay the whole show.

I tried jumping off the edge of a hockey rink to go on to two big speakers, but missed bad (hammered), sprained my ankle to a point where I still cannot flex the calf.

Another being I fought to the front and held the barrier for over two hours, got a pressure bruise under my left pec that developed into the scar.

Miss those shows for sure.

I agree, it would be a good name. Calling this a Pantera "reunion" implies there might be a record. God I hope not...

I was ready to give them the benefit of the doubt but something feels way off, the energy is just not that of a Pantera show. Watch one of the recent videos and then watch the absolute mayhem that is Ozzfest 2000...

Thought something similar when I saw some videos.

This is pure speculation, but I think Pantera became a "thing" to a lot of people who never listened/saw them when they actually played.  They were never part of the original shows.

Also could be Phil looks slow as shit compared to what he used to do.

Yeah, the feel is WAY off, musically, vibe-wise, everything …

Charlie is a fantastic drummer, but his feel is not the same as Vinnie’s, and Zakk, while a tremendous player, has an approach and feel FAR removed from that of Dime.

As well, Phil is severely a lesser frontman than he once was.

Pantera was a machine of a band. Anselmo could be rough, vocally, at times, but his exuberant presentation and confidence carried him over.

I’d bet dollars we’ll see a recorded live offering (bad enough), and it wouldn’t surprise me if this fiasco decides to write and record new music. In the latter case, my disgust will go off the chart.

Yeah. My wife and I went to what was dubbed “Desert Trip” back in 2016 at that same venue. Three night concert of old heads, but it was pretty awesome. Friday Bob Dylan/Rolling Stones, Saturday Neil Young/Paul McCartney and Sunday The Who/Roger Waters. Ate my first edibles before Roger Waters came on and when the light show started I caught a buzz to “Time”. Also, for being so old at the time, McCartney absolutely slayed it as far as his set and the interaction he had with the audience. Guy is a multi talented multi instrumentalist. Even if you hate his music, you should have respect for the man’s abilities. Bob Dylan sounded horrible and only played things that you didn’t want to hear. Mostly because his voice sucked though.

I think there will be massive uproar from the fans (the true fans, not the 17 year olds who discovered Pantera by watching someone's Domination "reaction" video on tick tock or youtube) if this happens and it would tarnish the Pantera name irreparably. It just won't sound right without the Abbott brothers. Alas, it looks like this band will continue touring as they rake in the cash.

I can’t handle Zakk’s pinch harmonics

Zakk's playstyle changed for the worse over the years, in my opinion. I don't know if is the tuning or if he uses too much effects, I don't enjoy the sound of his guitar with BLS. He peaked with Ozzy and my favorite, Pride & Glory.

What? Their latest album just released is better than almost any other bands best album.
