Title: Good Old Days at Beacon Theater
Post by: mphgrove on May 15, 2023, 06:21:24 PM
Saw someone else’s post re Ruhl in 2002. Then I found this private video which is chock full muscle from 2002 NY Pro. Nostalgia trip including the survivors: Ruhl, Darrem, Bob C, Heiko, Gustavo, Arntz, etc. But also thinking about the others who faced subsequent challenge in one way or another: Prince, Titus, Mustafa, Shaun Davis, Melvin, as well as the huffer and puffer exhibitionists non-computers parading around and self promoting in front of the theater: Hollibaugh, Derek A, John Riggins, etc. Those were the crazy days! Missing some other names too for example, like short Ken Jones who always seemed to get magazine coverage because of his colorful personality.

I went to the night of the champions there (Dorians debut he came in second Momo won) I have tons of pics somewhere..., got to meet everyone ....it was maybe 1989?  .... all the bodybuilders came out in the lobby and on the sidewalk... I was in awe! Great memories!

Christ Ruhl was even showing lat striations that day.  Best pecs ever prior to the tear.  He crushed those dudes.

I went next year for Dorian's win.  Saw Porter Cottrell win, Nasser once, maybe one other.  Munzer/Jablonicky used to show up in insane condition, etc.......good times.
