The back spasms probably aren't related to the same thing. Theoretically swishing a ginger shot in the mouth and or drinking tonic water (with real quinine. Most are just artificial flavor.) could reduce cramping.

last fluids in at 10pm
If things go as normal should be 204 in the morning
only had around 400 grams of carbs today around the same as yesterday , first carbs I have had all week
Depending on dryness tomorrow will probably skip carbs in the AM and just have some simple carbs an hour before I go onstage

He might have had weak points three years ago, but the main thing in his mind should be, his goal needs to be, to even out everything to the point... that everything is perfect. Which means that if he wanted to increase one muscle a half inch, the rest of the body has to increase. I told him to never make one muscle increase or decrease, because everything has to fit together now, and all he has to do is get his posing routine down more perfect, which is almost impossible to do, you know. It's perfect already.
Oh yeah, it's down to a point.

They also had a girl doing social media interviews with all the class winners, I declined an interview
I dont want the attention and just want to get onstage and do my bit.

I have two bulging discs (L4and L5), once in a while the disc presses on a nerve and causes my back to spasm , the spasm is basically the bodies reaction to try and pull my nerve away from the pain, the result is my whole torso twists and I look like I have scoliosis , the tramadol eases the pain and as such eases the spasam.
Normally takes a few days to fully ease off
I will just take my time training this week, nice easy pump sessions just to get the blood lowing, will take some time off after the show and let my body heal and eat some good foods
As long as I dont go into spasm again this week it will be OK
PS I suspect Brian will now add 3 bulging discs to his vast collection of ailments so as not to be beaten.

I know I probably speak for myself on this, but I feel as if Pumping Iron was truly carried by 2 leading actors, Arnold and Matty. Everyone else was just a supporting actor. No one else made a lasting dent. Just as they gave us sneak peeks (backstories) on certain bodybuilders (Katz, Franco etc.), they should have given us a deeper look into Matty's life (where he grew up, his days on the street as a cop beating on minorities, his goomah etc.). The breakfast conversation Arnold had with Matty was some of the best shit in the movie. Louie looked like a congenital retard throughout that scene.

Yeah, I mean you can always depend on him being in shape and nailing the graceful posing, but added to that this time round - for me - if anything Jeff's quads look like they've come up in size from last time I saw him - maybe it was the pump from all the squeezing in the posedown, but when he walked over to stage left (nearer the camera) the sweep was really noticeable - amazing! 8)

Congrats Jeff now you are a real hero! lol You do look insane for your age! Im 6o now myself and still work out every day (6Am). Unfortunately I dont look anywhere near like you (not many do anyway) but I'm in good shape.
Yes Tramadol to the rescue, for me as well. They also keep me happy as well. Work great on my back and hip. Couldnt do without. Maybe an OP but I'm far from it and I dont thin its worth it being that old but who knows.
What I wanted to say is, that it is even more impressive to accomplish what you did with having a back issue!
Again, this is your time to enjoy all the hard work and bravery to walk on stage!

I am still recovering. A top 3 placement would have at least been respectful, I thought I had the best combination of muscularity, balance and condition. The winner did not even turn around in his posing routine and I shook my head on stage when I looked over to see that bloated mess with chest and back covered in acne being placed in 4th. Will I ever compete again? I don't know at this stage.

I recall years back Denis Phoenix who was the Mr Wales and competed in the Universe saying to eat a specific number of baked potatoes per 25lb pdf bodyweight over a certain period of time to carb up. At the time you just believed it but looking back its pure bioscience. Why not per 20lb of bodyweight- what type of potatoes- why??? Genuinely never used to question anything the gym owner told you!

Hahahaha... exactly like me, its little annoying things, the most annoying thing aboput the toilet situation is I told the new owner that the toilet was blocked and there was 8 empty tubes with no paper.
He went in the toilets to check on it

Try showing uo with a Bodybuilder's physique 1st
and try lasting the whole day with out running away so scared you're shitting your
pants every 15mins - getting a tan is the least of your problems.

Didnt make top six, great line up, got in the second call out, maybe 7th 8th place , will find out, I know who the head judge is so I will be able to find out next week
No Universe invite this year, could qualify at the England show later in the year but I think I will have some time off.
My back was playing up all day, no spasams but had to be careful going through compulsory poses
No excuses they were all top notch competitors, 16 in the class, it was the biggest class of the day
Thanks for all the positive feedback leading up to this show chaps
Will have a bit of a break from training for a week then start back at the new gym

Guy on the left Andy Lawler tends to place well because hes Andy Lawler
Herbie the guy second left is 65 FFS, he looked incredible
Guy third left is Carlo Citrone, sone of John Citrone NABBA legend
Steve Johnson was the winner, hes won it several times before, a clear winner to in my eyes
I competed with Steve back in 1992
Carlo Bernascone last years winner didnt place either.
It was a deep class, one guy about 6'5 huge upper body didnt come back for the results, he only got the third call out.
Maybe his wife had something wrong with her eyes and was driving home.

after the show my wife asked me why I wasnt disappointed, I think the anti-depressant meds just flatten me out, I wasnt that bothered when I won either.
She thought I should have placed , then again I suppose shes biased anyway
I wanted to do the Universe this year and a top six would have got me a spot
Never mind, I may do the England the week before the Universe as its the last qualifier or may just take some time out
Going to take some time to decide what to do, I dont think Im finished just yet

My wife took the odd photo , I haven't even looked at them, she may have put them on FB but I have no idea
Im a bit non-plussed by it all at the moment
Its all a bit anti-climatic, the rest of my year was a plan to do the universe but now Im not qualified I cant really focus on anything, my backs totally out of whack as well at the moment, I need a chiropractors appointment before I go back training.
New plan is new gym , hopefully some new motivation.
I will find out my placing over the next couple days as I know one of the judges, he trains at the new gym I am going to

Someone said after my UK win that I should smile more and be more positive onstage and put out more of "I want to win" vibe.
I cant go onstage strutting around like some fucking show off peacock.
I also cant remember Dorian smiling all that much onstage either.

take the rest of the year to try and get some tissue added without the stress of dieting and compete at the NW and Britain again next year
option 2
stay lean for the next 6-8 weeks and then go for the NABBA England on the 24th September which would qualify me for this years Universe (my original plan if I had made top six at Britain)
Only thing is the Universe is 5 weeks after the England show on the 28th October.
Pretty much means I will have dieted for around 10 months of this year.
Chances of me adding significant tissue now at 58 is pretty slim to zero.
Will most likely go with option 2

Go with option 2 if you can take it. You're in shape already.....Refine everything and go for it in a few weeks.
I'm around your age....older actually. Adding muscle, injuries, etc. come at a rapid pace and often. lol
