During the Covid lockdown I had pretty much had to do only push ups for chest.  I built up to being able to do 47(I think, I'd have to check my log) in a row.  When everything opened up again, I went to use a bench machine that I could do 245 for 11 on pre-Plandemic(I've always been a terrible presser and much stronger on back movements and this machine did not translate to real free weights for the record).  Well fuck me my strength had crashed down to I think barely being able to do 200 for 1 and I was PISSED.  Yes, I know high reps don't translate to max strength very well if at all but I had hoped to at least maintain fairly close to what I previously had and I was just god damn pissed about it.  My already shitty pressing strength had crashed even further into shitville.  So fuck push ups and fuck the Plandemic.

Did your chest come close to touching the ground every rep? Big difference between shallow push ups and full. If it was legit pushups that's impressive.

In the fighting arts pushups are more valuable than a big bencher. In my last commercial gym the owner happens to be a former powerlifter and a black belt in karate so he hung a heavy bag. Seen far too many big benchers hit that bag with pillow punches to know the bench doesn't translate into punching power. Bet many world champion boxers can't bench 225lbs.

What exactly are you saying?

Boxers are better fighters than weightlifters?

225 straight? That’s nuts. I’ve done over 100 a few times and once when I was 285 I did like 110 or something but 225 that’s absolutely insane. Very impressive sir. Do your chest, shoulders and triceps show extreme development from such a feat?

It took me forever to get to 100. After that the reps started piling on almost effortlessly. It is like a fat fucker gaining weight. It takes a long time to get to 300, 400 half as long and 500 is right around the corner. Soon he is on My 600lb Life and talking about his thyroid problem.
