You don't even feel like letting your kids watch tv anymore because of this stuff.
I remember that ad coming on when I was eating dinner with the kids.

Weird
The bankrupt governments are desperate for money.
Given the takeout which is often 50% or more, only a complete moron would play government numbers games.

What a gay commercial

Damn!
Thin Lizzy, I think you are on to something profound here.
The Canadian government is pushing alcohol and gambling ads HARD. Like CRAZY. Ads that show how happy people are to win the lottery.
Keep in mind that in Canada, the government has a MONOPOLY on alcohol and gambling. WHY would they need to advertise??
Do you think it all boils down to Western governments essentially all going broke?
-
The states that have legalized gambling are cleaning up. This will probably create either big tax cuts and/or much better schools, roads and bridges, etc.

https://equable.org/unfunded-liabilities-for-state-pension-plans-2022/
This means there is a national public pension funding shortfall of around $1.4 trillion, as of June 30, 2022 (formally this shortfall is called unfunded liabilities. Collectively that is just 77.9% of the money that should be in state and local pension funds today (and this percentage is called the funded ratio.

State lotteries are a scam.
In NY you have a pick 3 and pick 4.
Pick 3 has a probability of 1-1000 and pays $500, a 50% takeout.
Pick 4 is 10000-1 and pays $2500, a 75% takeout.
The stupid scratch off games are the same.
Only broke losers play these games. So, I guess the states are trying to appeal to a more upscale crowd.

I’m sure this commercial teared-up some of the older queens on this board. On a side note, they successfully blew through their annual marketing budget to appease their gay overlords

Qué desgracia..

These benders are something else, lol.

How does it work when they get divorced. Is it the bottom who gets alimony?

Finally a divorce court where both parties get the shaft.

I have a hard time believing those passive/active dynamics. They both take it up the ass.

It's a shame they didn't win before they were geriatrics. They could have put some of the winnings toward renting an Eastern European egg & womb so the baby with two dads is nice and white. That was all the rage for awhile.
-
Horrible message. In truth, their chances of lottery triumph would be on par with the fortuity of conjuring forth progeny from the recesses of their anal canals. :P

homos seldom have long term relationships

I found it quite sad watching that.
Looks like they were both suffering from AIDs at the end.
Who's going to enjoy the money?

Is gambling not legal in every state?
This will probably create either big tax cuts and/or much better schools, roads and bridges, etc.
In Canada, our current government is just borrowing and spending like crazy on anything and everything. Including billions sent to other countries.
I'd like to think that gambling revenues would go towards infrastructure maintenance/development, but I doubt it is. I'm sure some portion is, but I would suspect a lot is just lining the pockets of corrupt and incompetent members of government.

Interesting.
I believe I heard about that pension bubble, for the first time around two years ago.
If it's happening in the USA, I don't see how it wouldn't be happening in Canada.
So...out governments do need the money. I'd be curious if this gambling revenue is actually being used to pay for those pension plan unfunded liabilities.
Do you know what the total USA unfunded liabilities are, Thin Lizzy? I heard it was a huge number. Literally like $100 trillion or something crazy.

That $100 trillion number is probably looking out 30 or 40 years but the main drivers are Social Security and Medicare and no one wants to address it because it’s political suicide.
The last time Republicans broached the subject, Democrats immediately started airing commercials about Republicans wanting to push Granny in a wheelchair off a cliff.😂

Meanwhile, if we don't address it, that's pretty much exactly what will eventually happen.
I'm curious what we're supposed to do if politicians aren't even allowed bring this stuff up?
Seems like a long-term recipe for disaster.

They devalue the currency and print more money to make up for the shortfall.

This. The end game is currency collapse.

Only 28 states in the land of the free.
-
States will just increase spending with the lottery money.
