He was one of the few last living legends in wrestling.  Had some good angles and feuds.

I think it’s the first time I got to do one of these. I was surprised that there wasn’t already a thread.😂

Terry was against Bret Hart in his final match around 1997 in the documentary "Beyond the Mat", that Wiggs and I both enjoyed. I believe Funk actually did several more "final matches" after that one though.

Lurker, you posted your thread 19 seconds after Thin Lizzy posted his thread, but the winner takes it all:

Great wrestler through the 70's (NWA champ), 80's and his awesome ECW run in the 90's. Legendary mic skills and great in the ring. RIP

When you consider his lifestyle and what he put his body through, 79 is an impressive number.💪

Who did it better?

Funk piledriving Flair on the table

Or

Randy Savage piledriving Ricky Morton on the table

Personally I think savage did it better.  That piledriver was beautiful.  And he even got the little jump boost. Unlike Funks “I’m just gonna sit down easy now” one.

Terry Funk doing moonsaults in his 50s in ECW was the greatest thing.

Yes, but he was miserable for years.

I remember watching an interview on youtube that he did way back before my prime.  This was back in the days of the territories and he was brought in to FL for a few weeks as a favor to the booker.  In this interview he claimed he wanted to see what being a Floridian was really like and then proceeded to pour two quarts of motor oil over his head and smear it all over himself so he could "feel sweaty like them" and then he started putting dirt and sand all himself so he could "feel dirty like them".   The interview was like 2 minutes long, but I bet he was showering for hours afterwards to get that oil off him.
