After review the Rogue Bar was too long and the grips were too large and with shipping it was like 500 bucks. I decided just to pick up a cheap cap barbell trap bar for 85 bucks including shipping if I hate it or it breaks I can upgrade. It is only 4.5 feet long not 7.5 so way smaller than the Rogue. Also my buddy who did 550lbs for 10 reps was using a cap bar so should work just fine.

Those CAP's work just fine... I have one of them myself...

It won’t break, you can’t lift enough weight to put it under any stress.
-
It’s a trap
-
I didn't realize the Rogue bar was 7.5 feet long until someone mentioned that in other thread also it has unusual large hand grips looked cumbersome in video. I wanted something that would take less footprint. The bars I have seen people using are all like 4.5 feet long which the cap is also for fuck sake Rogue wanted to charge me 75 dollars shipping on a 375 dollar bar plus tax. Cap bar was 79 bucks on amazon and shipped free 85 bucks total with tax @score

Not Coop he is hitting 500 for a single on the trap bar but yes a strict curler as they prefer not using the over under grip on a regular deadlift hence the trap deads

#500 TB usually equals out to around #450 conventional. Usually about a 10%ish drop between the two give or take.

I got one of each kicking around in here (raised and not raised handles)..

Pretty much at its space-limit now. I have enough floor space where two of us can deadlift at the same time.
If my wife would only lift the same weight as me we wouldnt need that extra floor-space. (Kidding of course, the space is needed anyways to get around in there).
Its a double-garage, and I always had my band-room on the other side where we rehearsed. But we shut that down a couple years ago when my brother-inlaw died.
We had the band for 20+ years together...

I would estimate a 15-20% drop if you use high handles.
I love Rogue equipment, but don't see the point on spending for a trap bar. I have a 75lb one I got for 75 bucks that's an absolute tank.
The CAP one hankins got will be just fine.
-
I heard you're looking for a trap bar Hanky!

Drop? Or did you mean "gain"? People can pull more w/ raised handles... Higher starting position like a rack-pull...

Good sir, please read the quoted part of my post.
We are talking about a drop in conventional vs trap.

Yeah, I can see it being 15-20% on the High handles, most of my data and actual deadlifting is on the old single gripped "Gerard" style.

Do you feel the trap deads more in your back or your quads I would imagine hams still get significant work just less in lower back? Is it a good overall back developer or more upper back traps is it an overall leg developer? Should it go on a back day or a leg day?

All will be answered in time, Little One.
-
I like to do trap-pulls on back day, in place of deads... I feel it more in my legs though to be honest. (Like a "squat pull") and less in lower-back...
With my latest round of back issues Ill be bringing these back in and maybe even (bite my tongue) start pulling sump on straight-bar DL's..

Brian, you never mentioned this buddy before. It’s been proven time and time again you do not have friends
It’s either Coop or your brother.
Which one is it?

If you really want to feel it in your quads, build a little podium to stand on, the longer/deeper you can make the pull, the more chance you'll feel it in the quads.

I don't think the movement is great for development much at all. It will hit the quads, hams and back, but I feel it's more for strength/power.

Yup... Though with 20 rep sets I've had some decent leg growth/swelling... I guess 20 reps of anything fairly heavy could cause some growth..
A good power move for sure though..

Serious question. Does anyone here think they’d be able to deadlift Hanky’s coffin? Even with a conventional bar? How much does a coffin add to body weight?

Standard coffins weigh between #150-300lbs, The empty belly versions (#150-200) are sized up to about a low #200s man. The full belly versions are in the #200-300 range, and can hold double that.
You figure you're looking a #400+ Hankins Deadlift (odd lift) at least.

I only tried a trap bar once. Eleiko brand. It started tilting and felt uncentered. It didn't have revolving handles, maybe that's why. I immediately gave it up although I usually love deadlift everything.
Best whole body movement that hits a lot of tissue: deficit deadlifts. Stand on something where your feet barely fit under the bar. Only problem is that it's so taxing and uncomfortable you tend to put it off, at least I do.

it's just a tool, you can use it lots of ways
shrug with it for traps
be more upright on the pull for more quads
use the lower handles for more lower back
hell band it and jump into tripple extension

Looks great, fancy. Would love to try it out. Though more fancy doesn't always mean better, mostly worse. Regarding making good equipment, I think Kabuki made some specialty bars with lots of testing and thought behind it but some powerlifters said they were the worst bars they'd used. Someone said their bar fucked up an entire meet for everyone lol. Lots of injuries. Even something like a bar which you'd think is simple enough is hard to get just right.

There’s one of those at gym I go too it almost never ever gets used maybe seen it used maybe 2-3 times total

Considering Emily will take him for everything he is worth. I’m pretty sure he’ll be cremated.

Trap Bar deads are better on the legs, easier on the lower back, and a far more normal and natural feeling. You can do farmer walks, overhead press, rows, etc.
The reason for the wide ones on the Rougue and Sorinex ones are because they accommodate bumper plates which are wider than the metal 45's.

I cant believe people are responding positively to the twat because hes made up some bullshit story about a journey to 500lb, his "315 bench press club" distraction didnt work to deflect from his SCN failure so hes moved on to this and caught you all out.

In my commercial gym they had one generally unused. I saw a guy using it one day with three plates a side. I wanted to try it. The thing I found is that if you lift it unbalanced by not having your hands even and relative centering with your body the load can be off. I did a couple of reps with it just to try it. Three plates a side felt light and I bet I thought that because of the less range of motion because of the high handles.
These are my observations. There is a slight learning curve but I bet it can be mastered very quickly. I could be a lot more healthy over all for your back. Less hinging of the lower back. Using the high handles you cut the range of motion allowing you use more weight. You can flip it over for more range of motion. It makes your legs and lower back stronger.

I don't like moving plates so I kind of just leave them on stuff wanted to get some 100lb bumper plates and realized the weight cost more than the bar lol

My bread and butter lift. Sometimes 2” block, sometimes 2plates…
Thing is with a heavy cartilage damage in my knees this is more doable than squats. The negative part of the squat taxes bad cartilage the most and with any kind of deads you can just do the positives. I’ll follow the bar thought and not just outright drop it.
Sometimes little extra extensions on the side. Works for me 👍

I do both but prefer the Trap Bar by far since it feels like less strain on lower back and more focus on the legs in a natural position.

Trying? Who the fuck "tries" to get bumper plates???
Anyone who is mensa level would think to look on facebook marketplace first. Or, possibly even use this thing called "Google" and look up bumper plate sites.

Trying to get some bumper plates any recommendations? Rogue has like 10 different types
Low priced, but good - https://wright-equipment.com/collections/rubber-bumper-plates/products/wright-color-rubber-bumper-plates .
Wright was who Crossfit originally recommended, and Rogue sold them up until a few years ago, when they went mostly to their own labels.
Eleiko has these on sale - https://eleiko.com/en-us/equipment/plates/fitness/3085126-45-eleiko-xf-bumper-plate-45-lbs-black .
These two are training bumpers so they are thicker, for instance a #45 is just under 3.5" thick.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
These are thinner training bumpers -
https://www.roguefitness.com/rogue-color-echo-bumper-plate .
---------------------------------------------------------
On competition bumpers, these are a good deal - https://www.roguefitness.com/rogue-lb-competition-plates-2023-games-used .
If you're buying new, just buy these and call it good -
https://www.roguefitness.com/rogue-kg-competition-plates-iwf .
https://www.roguefitness.com/rogue-color-lb-training-2-0-plates .
Competition bumpers are a good bit thinner.
-------------------------------------------------------
If you're not buying used, and want competition plates, just pay. There really isn't much of a break on the big brands.
Also if you mix a Kg set and a Lb set, you don't have to mess around with change plates as much. That's how I made my sets up when I bought them. 1 Kg set, 1 lb set.
-
thank you
Been awhile Gene, hope the family is well. 8)

Just saw a video that showed a guy doing explosive fast high pulls with the trap bar. That could be the perfect application for that bar.
