He was a rescue I got 2 years ago. Found out he had lymphoma cancer about 8 months ago. He was unable to use his back legs and couldn’t move. They started him on chemo and it seemed to help. He was energetic and could run and move. He never seemed to be himself when the chemo started but he was able to eat , drink and play. Yesterday I saw he was struggling to breathe and his belly was swollen. I took him to an emergency vet and they called me this morning that he got worst overnight. He couldn’t breathe on his own and was in severe pain. They put him to sleep early this afternoon while I held him in my arms. Feeling him die in my arms was so painful. I buried him in a Forrest he loved talking walks through.
It breaks my heart into a thousand pieces not having him anymore.

My cat dying was one of the worst experiences of my life. My mom died this year and was even worse. I feel your pain man. Animals seem to make better friends than most people do.

Horrible thing to deal with, most animals are wonder creatures. Take your time with it, it will hurt for a while, but it slowly gets better.

So very similar to my beloved rescue dog, he went in my arms 3yrs ago.
I had the good fortune of spending 4yrs
With him & he went everywhere with me I could possibly take him.
He blessed my world & life - miss him every goddamn day.

I've rescued another Dog - This one had some serious Bad Treatment
He was 3 when I got him - He'd been used as pup for dog baiting / fighting
Had his snout sewed back on / tummy sewed up / & blinded in left eye,
Plus had been rehomed in Germany & Sweden & 7 diffrent homes !!
only to be sent back to
The rescue centre - to say he had a few issues !!
He bit me on 1st collecting him & few other times 🤬🤷🏻♂️
& he's a fair size 45kg - took around 14/15 months to get him fairly
Relaxed & calm - now 2yrs on he's a real character & loves to fight & play
Does a lot funny things - He still has his moments & is very wary of other
People to start with.
Love him to bits 😊👊🏻

Last year I made the decision to put down my 17yr old miniature schnauzer due to very poor health. She was by my side all the time all those years and had awesome life.
It’s ok to be sad but 17yrs of happiness is cause for celebration. Remember the stupid shit they do and you’ll see yourself laughing and shaking your head.

Nah, I really want to, but the timing just isn't right. When my male mastiff died, he was very old and I felt it was coming. I was due to fly out and very nearly cancelled because I was worried something was going to happen. I was sleeping on the floor in the dining room with him for a few days before I left. The day before I was due to leave, he had a fit and I must have broken the landspeed record driving up from another city to get back home. I spent some time with him before having to put him to sleep and then flew out. If I had been away when he died, I think the guilt would have killed me. I want to make sure I'm always around when I get one or two again. Maybe in a few years.

Veterinarians ask the owners to be close to the animals until the very end.

Dont let them die in a room with a stranger in a place they dont like.
It is very painful for veterinarians to see how pets cannot find their owner during the last minutes of their life.
They dont understand why the owner left them. After all, they needed their owner's consolation.
Veterinarians do everything possible to ensure that animals are not so scared, but they are completely strangers to them. Don't be a coward because it's too painful for you.
Think about the pet. Endure this pain for the sake of their sake.

In commiefornia one of the scamdemic rules was that you weren't allowed to be with your pet when it was given peace by a veterinarian. My son's 16+ year old dog had reached the end but when told we could not be with him I opted to have him pass with his family at his home.
Our son could not get off work but the rest of our family was with his dog to the last breath. Fucking cuckolded governor and his economic-political sycophants deserves Hell.

I am so sorry for your loss. It is heartbreaking to see them suffer and to lose your best friend.
When our 10-year-old dog Danny was diagnosed with lymphoma following some lab work, I took him to a cancer specialist who offered the option of chemo. After doing considerable reading, I learned that the cure rate is almost nonexistent and the best we could hope for was to extend his life for another year. We elected not to follow that course of action. Lymphoma spreads very quickly. The vet provided medication for our fella to help keep him as comfortable as possible during the time he had left. When he let us know, it was time, we called a service that came to the house to euthanize him with all of us at his side.

Had to put down by pitbull not long ago..he was a fighting dog that I psychically removed from his owners at a grocery store parking lot..got him healthy and he was the best dog for 6 years..no idea how old he was.
He didn’t know English so me and him had a non verbal relationship..my wife would speak Spanish to him but he still ignored her ass.
He had some bad complications from surgery and I had to put him down.
I took him everywhere with me..even put his 106lb ass in the grocery cart when I went shopping

Had to put my best friend, my brittany, down coming up on 2 years now. I still feel guilty and wonder if he really needed to do so. He had very very bad bronchitis and while he took medication every day it didn't really help, plus he had a huge mass in his chest, that the VET couldn't decide what it is, most likely a tumor. He was 14 years old, which is about the average lifespan for such a dog....However, he was still eating, drinking, walking around, although no energy whatsoever...But according to the Vet after x-rays, his breathing tubes were so thin, it was like him trying to breathe thru a coffee stirrer straw and that sometime soon the tubes would close up and he would go into cardiac arrest. She the Vet told me, that trust me you don't want to see that!... I still wonder if I should have got a 2nd opinion just to be double sure...
Anyway, I also feel guilty that I was NOT in the room when they gave him the final shot. The reason why was because when I asked the Vet, how do dogs react to this final shot, she said all dogs are different, some will start yelping loudly, some will shake violently and so on. ALL THINGS I COULD NOT see or stand, so I left the room, waited in the lobby for 10 minutes before they came and got me and told me it was all done... I did not ask the Vet how he reacted, because if he had reacted calmly, I would for the rest of my life feel even more guilty I wasn't there at his last moments...
The only thing, that helps me thru this, is that the first shot the powerful sedative they gave him was so powerful, he was basically totally out of it already, eyes closed and just laying there, so I hope that he wouldn't and didn't even know if I was in that room or not when he had his final breath...

Last two nights sleeping as soon as I close my eyes I relive him getting his shots and body going limp in my arms. It was so surreal. Like it’s something that only happens in movies. I miss my little maniac dog.

Sorry for your loss. I have had to put down over 10 dogs now in my life. I put one down two months ago. It is one of the hardest things to do. To watch and feel the animal die in your arms as they take their last breath. I cry every time and I am even tearing up writing this. Sadly, it is a part of life. You just have to remember all the love your dog gave you and the love you gave back. The best thing to do is to find another rescue as soon as possible. This will help you heal faster and there are other dogs out there that need a good home and master. In a way, your dog died to make room for another dog to be loved by you. Trust me on this one. This will help a lot.

8 years ago I had to put down a dog right before his third birthday.
Greatest dog I've ever known.
Worst part is I never got a diagnosis what was wrong with him.
Still like glass in my heart.

A Dogs Life
Dear friends,
We are all here because we want to make sure our dogs are living their best lives
But when that life draws to an end we find ourselves totally devastated,consumed by sadness and grief.
So I wanted to write a few words to remind us of how much should also be celebrated
Please remember that a dogs life is always so much more than what happens towards the end.
For those that are truly loved ,its years of happiness,with not a care in the world,
It’s sleeping in a warm and comfy spot,feeling safe and secure.
It’s going for car rides to explore exciting new places,just seeing that leash and hearing those keys makes you soooo happy,
It’s having a special day once a year,called a birthday or gotcha day
Where you get sang to and given treats and presents even though you’ve no idea why.
It’s having Christmas with family and friends,where you don’t get left out in the present department
And not forgetting the amazing Christmas dinner either !
Its knowing it’s safe to voice your opinion and you do !
You can’t quite speak human( well almost !) ,but you can damn well get whatever you want,
You only have to sit in front of that outside door and it will be opened.
In fact it’s actually a good game that is well worth playing!
It’s having constant company,human and canine alike,knowing you belong and will always have family.
For some it’s occasionally having a dark and distant memory of a time that wasn’t so good,but knowing for sure that your life will never be like that again
It’s enjoying meal times with your special person,where you can be sure you will get your fair share too,
because somehow the way you look is just irresistible,
It’s knowing that when you walk into the room you will get quite a reaction,
Because everyone thinks you’re beautiful and you know it!
And it’s the sparkle in your eyes, and the wag in your tail because you know YOU ARE LOVED.
None of us know how to say goodbye to something so extraordinarily precious as our dogs.
So quite simply,we don’t.
It’s just like when we have to leave them home alone for a while ,we know it’s best not to say
”goodbye “
Instead we just whisper
“ back soon “
Because we know in our hearts it won’t be for long.
We will be back soon and this time it will be forever.
