We were in Kosovo on a peacekeeping mission operation kfor not in a warzone with insurgents. We would raid country villages at sunup and turn the houses upside down looking for documents as they had ethnic cleansing during the war and different people would just move into the houses. So we were trying to do census work to make sure the same people still lived in the house after the war. We were also looking for contraband but mainly identifications but yeah we would ransack their homes. Sometimes the residents would get upset and start complaining and it was my job with my training partner who was part of my platoon to grab them and ziptie them as we were the two biggest meatheads and the E7 knew I was a wrestler. We didn't want to shoot some 60 year old villager who starts waiving his arms as he sees us destroying his home we had rules of engagement we would just grab them and ziptie them and sit them down. Didn't seem strange at all you guys wanting to shoot an old man dead in a peacekeeping zone because he gets mad when he sees people tearing his house apart is ridiculous.
Another time we were at camp rock which is the top of the Albanian Kosovo border every spring they would smuggle guns across so we set up a guard station and inspected every tractor to make sure they didnt have them hidden in the hay or whatever. There were only a couple day. Small village top of mountain sparesely populated. Well one time I was in the giant tent inside the one platoon camp and the said we were all needed at the gate. So we run out there thinking it's some kind of issue and this idiot E5 is arguing with a 70 year old man who lives 200 yards from the gate who apparently complained about being harassed every time he came out to his outhouse to take a shit and the E5 wanted us all to line up in a show of force and I started laughing I asked him if he was serious and suggested he could handle the old man himself. My E5 did not like that but its like seriously you can't handle one old man I got to come up here on my break so you can have a show of force with an unarmed 70 year old man handle it yourself. We had another idiot corporal who let some kids into the Humv when we were guarding an old church on a cold night so of course they stole the night vision goggles and there was a big investigation. I lied and told the investigator the corporal didn't let them in even though I knew he had and told him at the time he was being an idiot but I still covered for him.
My one lifting partner from the platoon is now almost 500lbs on disability really sad situation got divorced started taking anti psychotic drugs and just gained a ton of weight has now found Jesus or something as well. My other lifting partner who did the takedowns was actually originally from England had an accent and everything. I don't know what happened to him as they went to Iraq after I got out. I hope he is good. He was a big Manchester United Fan we used to talk about opening a gym together when we got out.
My college roommate who went to Meps with me is still in but should be getting out soon. I think my cousin finally got out. I don't know I have mixed feelings about the military.
We got extended from 6-10 months on our deployment as the Iraq War officially started when we were in Kosovo. I never went to Iraq or Afgan just Vilseck Germany station and Kosovo deployment I liked Germany. We did get a 5 day pass to Sophia Bulgaria I will keep those adventures to myself

You should've been court-martialed for this dishonorable act. You admitted that you lied to cover up theft of military material.

Another time they actually sent us out with a metal detector from like radio shack 1984 and gave us these like hand held white sticks and wanted us to check a fucking cow pasture for mines. We parked our up armor Humv at the entrance to the field and the Sergeant said we could do whatever we wanted but he wasn't getting out of the Humv we all just sat in the humvee and ate MRES the entire shift no one set food on that damn cow pasture much less went prodding for mines. Was the first time I saw a sergeant admit and agree the orders were retarded and we were not going to follow them. One time we had like 3 feet of snow and we took a helicopter to the far ridge to get a surprise patrol or whatever. Long story short we are sticking to the road and this genius 2nd Lt decides we are being too predictable and we should go through a ravine off the road to the next road vs following the road. He asked me the E4 to go scout it out. Now being a snowboarder I know all about snowdrifts and ravines. I went in saw it was several feet of soft snow so came back and told the 2nd LT it was a bad idea. Well he didn't listen and decided to march the platoon or well it was about half the platoon maybe? Through the ravine. Mind you we had 18 year old privates from Alabama who had never seen snow before in the platoon. So of course within 10 minutes it was a shit show with guys stuck in the snow losing gloves losing boots etc etc. If there had actually been any bad guys around they could have taken us all out easy. I tried to warn them and they didn't listen. Then the same LT was telling guys carrying mortar systems and radios to pick up the pace when we finally got out meanwhile he was only carrying like a pistol and a water bottle. That guy was an idiot the E6 tore him a new one when we got back to camp rock we could all here the yelling from outside the headquarters office space from the tents. So yeah an enlisted E6/7 will occasionally yell at a LT

I am admitting now I didn't then and I lied to protect the corporal who I didn't like but was a Joe we already got the gear back by the time the investigator interviewed me. Why because I threatened the dumb ass kids who were denying it and they gave it back. That corporal was a pussy I am sure he went on to get people killed. He didn't even have the balls to scare the kids and get our shit back. They did demote him to an E3.

I will say I think hanky is being truthful about his time in the army. I don't think he's making all these stories up. And I found these stories entertaining.

Peace keeping mission ransacking peoples homes?
Look how Brian teases with his buddy was from England so people start asking who he was then he can spend 4 pages dancing around it and as such deflect from his stolen valour
Your post doesnt make sense
Peace keeping is about building relationships with the people and maintaining order not ransacking the villagers houses you fucking idiot

Seems to me you were allowed to do what you like, either its because you were so tough even officers didnt approach you or you were in a "special" unit
I managed to find your takedown team buddy

Brian your first sentence is at odds with your claim you were front line infantry in the war.
Liar liar

Personally I am calling bullshit on all of these "stories"....the guy talks in short choppy responses and now pulls a full MattC and types 3 - 4 detailed paragraphs for us? He puts up so much resistance and suddenly NOW he can recall the intimate details of missions from when he was in the Army? Suddenly his memory is like that of Rainman??
Cut and pasted from some place....just not his brain

I have to go with the people who say you didn't, more credibility
He posted the form you fill out when you are trying to enlist. Can't remember seeing anything else.

ChatGPT please write a paragraph in the style of Bhanks discussing his war service in Kosovo conducting a census and abusing 60 year olds while he broke international law repeatedly and talked back to his superiors, but is somehow still the hero

I enlisted after I graduated and after 9/11. I was 23 years old working in a cubicle on the DC beltway at the time but have fun making up lies about other people all day.

Did you, yourself serve?

He said above he was E-4, "Army Specialist". The highest rank for junior enlisted personnel, of course.
you never passed the Medical :D

11Charlie (mortarman infantry) and I came out of basic an E4 because I already had a degree. I enlisted in the infantry because that is what my grandfather was and they allowed a 2 year enlistment. In retrospect I should have gone in as an officer and been an accountant in the Army (officers don't pick MOS it gets assigned they also have to do a 6 year sign up. I had a recent finance degree so they would have made me a bean counter). I could be retired by now but at the time being 23 I thought being infantry and going to war would be fun then they sent me to Kosovo instead anyway. I moved to Manhattan when I got out of the Army I went to school in Brooklyn as a kid for a few years when my mother worked on Wall Street so that is what I wanted to do. Again in retrospect an army finance job would have been the better plan.

I graduated in August 2000. I went to Meps in October 2001 a full year later. I worked in accounting and finance for about 9 months prior. It was boring I though joining the Army and going to war would be exciting I joined I got deployed to Kosovo for 10 months it wasn't that exciting the end. Germany was fun but barracks were like being back in a dorm room with freshman the other soldiers were younger everyone my age was married in married housing. Not really sure why you guys find this so interesting or remarkable and I have been through it before

its because you are a compulsive liar and its fun watching you dig more graves for us all to throw you in on a daily basis.
brian how lonely and sad is your life that you come to get abuse daily from people who wouldn't give a shit if you hanged yourself today. surely you must have someone in the world somewhere you can fucking bother.

If I am so lame how come you respond 30 seconds after I post anything day or night? If I am boring and you are stalking me then you are even worse jackass.

Interesting, your mom worked on wall street now?
You said she was an airline hostess, remember that tale?
I'm guessing, she moon lighted on wall street while flying using her iPhone, right?
Your mom was working on wall street in the 80s and 90s when women weren't on wall street yet.
I'm guessing she was a pink sheet escort.
Everything Brian says is a lie.

I said she had frequent flier miles. I don't need to argue with you about every stupid thing you make up. She was a licensed principal options trader she had all the trading licenses as she had her own discount stock brokerage in Virginia before taking the job so she basically just rented them out to the brokerage houses you need a principal in each firm in addition to the regular licenses for almost everything you trade there are like a dozen different series other than 63 and 7 most people know. I used to go to her office in middle school when I got out early or whatever NYC was cool then had arcades and street vendors and performers that mid 80's vibe. Her boss died in that Pan Am flight and we went back to Virginia after that so I was only there from 6th-8th grade but left an impression. Add in friends and Seinfield and I though NYC was the place to be. Problem is small apartments expensive food too many work hours etc etc My mom was a CPA and the first female accounting faculty member at Mcintire school of Commerce UVA she graduated from Syracuse with a masters degree. She broke a lot of glass ceilings. She was never a flight attendant. Both my grandmothers were also college graduates.

Specialist doesn't tell the MOS.

I’d serve under General Bhanks and wouldn’t talk back to him. Most Getbiggers wouldn’t either but are afraid to admit it.

It made me mad when they started going after soldiers who looted Baghdad like why shouldn't the soldiers get something? Roman soldiers actually were given lands and plunder. They say we don't rape pillage and burn anymore but we still do the gold just goes to the corporations instead of the soldiers.
-
perhaps if they had let you rape and pillage brian you could have at least thrown the ball rather than caught it for once. and wiht someone outside your dads 'circle of friends'

Thanks for the reply. During your time the retirement plan was 50%. Under Obama it was 40%. Now I heard under Biden it's zero. Just a deferred payment plan like their version of a 401K. They treat veterans like crap now. Become a soldier for 20 years then go learn another trade is their response.

I got fired so had to join the Army because my dad would leave me out of his will ,and going to war would be terrifying I joined I got deployed to Kosovo because I knew I wouldnt end up in a war zone with my dodgy legs, it was a massive relief in the end. Germany was fun but barracks were like being back in a dorm room with freshman the other soldiers were younger everyone my age was married in married housing. Officers absolutely choose our MOS. Where the fck do you get that dumbass info? You did NOT make E4 in Basic. That is total BS and there are plenty of enlisted men with college degrees.

You don't have to make E4 you start at E4 if you have a 4 year college degree or at least that is what I got I also got a cash enlistment bonus. I showed up to my first duty station as an E4 Specialist. I received E4 pay from day 1 in basic but no one wears any rank on their BDU during basic. I became a specialist at basic graduation and wore my rank at that time. I never wore any private stripes. I really don't need to argue about it.

Add it all up it's a deadly combination
