With a new competitive season underway, the NPC USA, Nationals, and North America Championships will soon be here. Thinking on it though, I can't come up with any big names expected to earn their pro card this year. So, who do you all think are the frontrunners? Anybody decent with a chance on a pro stage?
I can think of Stan McGay as a shoe-in this year in his weight class. Also, I'm rooting for Big Gus Carter to snag top honours and turn pro.

-
mike arvilla.
-
The shoe has thin skin and might take it..
-
Gus is Ronnie's training partner, looks like training heavy works :o
-
Do they have calf machines at Ronnies Gym?
-
Tarek Elsetouhi should turn pro (he qualifies already)
-
MuscleGallery brings you another reason why Stan McQuay cannot figure out why people think he's gay

wOW Gus is huge!!!
what are his weaknesses/flaws?
-
I think Mike Ergas has as good a chance as any top amateur to turn pro this year, since popular opinion is that he was robbed last year when he lost to Jonathon Rowe.
-
Danny Hester
Rory Liedelmeyer
Matt Mendenhall
Victor Richards
Edgar Fletcher
Rico McClinton

mike arvilla.
Mike "OG" Arvilla has my vote - good luck!

Are you blind Arvilla? How about Gus's lagging leg development being quite a noticeable flaw for starters?!
-
Speaking of underdeveloped legs... ::)

240, did you get paid to do that review?

240, did you get paid to do that review?
nope. It was pretty honest, what I liked and what I didn't. You dig it?
-
Yeah my vote goes to Jerome Ferguson!
The poor guy has been around a while now and he certainly deserves the win. He has transformed his physique this past few years and that waist is tiny
If he does turn pro with maybe an extra 10lb more muscle then i think he wud do really well as a pro
Its hard for taller guys to fill out enough but judgeing by his improvements of late he looks to have the potential
A guy that tall with that waist and a bit more size wud blow the competition away! he has the potential to be better than Gunter i think (the current tall mass monster)
-

It was exceptional.

Rhino and Vinny Galanti...............
oh wait a sec..................... ......N/M

ME.
I "hope" to get my Pro Card at the Masters Nationals.... either in the Over 50 class or one of the two cards being given in the Over 40 class. I'll be doing both classes which should double (or triple) my chances.... all I have to do is win my weight class.
I've done it before, I just have to do it again.... of course you never know who is going to show up.

I dunno - I think Gunter is the exception. Just look at Toney Freeman - he's as good as a tall bb can be but he's still overlooked. If he can't get a break, what chance does Jerome have?

It was exceptional.
Thanks. If a pro or anyone else wants to mail me a free DVD, I'll watch it and give them an honest assessment/free DVD review page with some style. Then, out of respect for their wishes, I'll keep the review to myself, or I'll publish it like I did the Grundy review.

-
Toney is awesome
I agree Renee would fit right up there with the rest of them ;D
Don't worry guys, this will get deleted. I think I angered the Great Bob
-

Indeed >:(
Ferguson has a Melvin Anthony look and would have a good shot at making an impact as a pro.
-
What about Omar Deckard and Lionel "L-train" Brown?
Both of them are at the top of their class, with Omar having great wheels for a tall bber. Lionel has a weird chest though.
-
Omar and Lionel probably front runners. Jerome could be ine the mix too.
-
Wow thats it? Bill WIlmore, and Jerome Fergurson? SO NOT IMPRESSED with their phyiques..major Dissapointments.
Shaun Crump Is gonna go all the way next year. He trains at the gym I go to, super cool dude.
-
Shaun is my brother and I am 150% confidant he will kick ass in Miami. The guy just grows and grows and still has an amazing waist and legs. He is due for sure. I have watched him work his ass off!!!!!!!!!!!! Go all the way lil bro!!

Yeah, he has great leg devlopment, big arms, big back, always getting better. Pretty cool to see him trianing here with us in PA.

You did a Great Job Mate! Thank you. I will always send my DVD's to you for review as no one does them like you. Take care

Richards is already a pro. He just doesn't want to compete for some strange reason

I agree with this post, but we have to remember that Jerome is what...37 YO ? IF he does turn pro-there is not alot of growing that he can do at that age.
He does have a beautiful physique-One I would like to have...
-
will this hurt the L-Train's chances of turning pro?
-
I predict Manny Torres, will win the Light heavies, and the overall
-
Vince Goodrum

Bodybuilding is one event where being a "pro" doesn't mean much.
It's not like baseball where you need talent and are competing with great athletes. Getting a pro card is like belonging to the Archie and Jughead fan club, just another card in your wallet to show people. You compete enough, while making the right connections, turning pro doesn't seem very hard. A top pro, different story.
-
Gus is Ronnie's training partner, looks like training heavy works :o
lol, now that you mention it, that is ron training partner. I always wondered who that was in the videos training with Ron.
He was the guy that help Ron put on the blue suit for the 800lb squats
-
Dave Palumbo, for sure.
-
Speaking of turning pro.....it amazes me in regard to how many cards are given a year.
I once heard there were, in a given year, ~80,000 npc card holders and they give out something like 10 pro cards?
Probably more than 80k now
-
that's becuase like 30 figure pro cards are given each show
plus consider that a lot of countries have a national show - these give out a couple cards
-
i think alexxx will turn pro this year
-

Hey Dmorgan, have you seen some recent pics of Crump? I see him train at the gym I go to with the owner every day-
Total Class act guy to go with a Pro Caliber physique...The Sport needs more down to earth, awesome people like him.
Guest posing in 2006 in North Carolina, from his site.
