His thing lately seems to be retroactively criticizing Arnold. He was one of Arnold's biggest brown nosers. Seriously.  Now he's just a washed up car salesman and he's cashing in on his former notoriety.  The best way for him to do that is to throw Arnold's name around.

I saw some video the other day and he has some nerve damage now too. Half his face is crippled.

I'm just saying... Play the first 0:00-0:10 seconds and from the 4:17-4:22 mark at a playback speed of 2x and things look a bit suspect.

I'm surprised he didn't tear a lot more muscles training like that.

He throws peanut weights around that's why. Except for squats ,and some presses where he has the spotter do all the work.

Vince Taylor tore a bicep with a 10lb dumbbell.

Vince Taylor tore a bicep with a 10lb dumbbell.

It could happen (on gear),even with a light weight.

Chances are far less though. Much higher throwing big weight, like Branch Warren.

I posted this in the other Platz thread …

Platz is one of my original inspirations, but truth be told, a majority of his training approaches are hugely destructive, and, frankly, unnecessary.

Without drugs, Tom’s way of things would have left him stringy, collapsed and tanked.

I’ve worked out with the guy.

This isn’t meant to slag the man and his impact. He sure went for it.

However, truth is truth.

I remember hearing him say this. Wasn’t it from pumping up for a contest in Europe? I believe John Brown was there

First of all Tom DID NOT train like that . He did it for videos . Same with everyone else. They put out videos showing them doing such insane hardcore workouts to make people think they are a superman or whatever. The mags did it back in the day too. The bodybuilders pretending to do this and that and stuff trying to act like they had intense training needed to grow etc. It was for selling magazines. Same as Arnold in pumping iron sayin a pump was like cumming. He was selling bodybuilding
I am not saying Tom or any other bodybuilder doesn't train hard. They do. But not like this.  All for show. He was dillusional anyway. He wouldn't downsize his thighs and he had no symmetry . But he was known for his freaky thighs so he kept at it instead of getting a balanced body.

That helped him get paid. Having that freak factor in his legs... his upper body wasn't that far off to still place well. If he downsized his legs he wouldn't have placed no higher. Plus squats and legs were the chore side of bodybuilding so he embraced that as Mr intensity doing squats till the cows came home as if Mr Hardcore. He sold it well

Same with John Defendis and Steve Michalik. They claimed they trained with very high volume, like 60 to 100 sets a bodypart while incorporating high intensity techniques like drop sets, forced reps, negatives, etc. No way did they train like that. Their cns would be totally fried. It's all stories just to sell themselves and to stand out from the crowd. Total bs.

I suppose the next thing you'll tell us is that the Colorado Experiment wasn't fact or that Joe Weider wasn't a great trainer?

Yeah sure, whatever you say, bro.

That video reminded me of how they were trying to push "hypnosis" back in the day. Smh. Man they tried to sell anything. Some of the old weider ads with the bracelet things roger callard modeled. lmao. All the bs different types of devices, all the vitamins, powders etc.  Just to name a few gimmicks. I have personally NEVER known anyone to do hypnosis for bodybuilding and I'm 59 years old. Eat good train hard take steroids. Pretty simple

Wasn't Mike Tyson hypnotized before fights?

If hypnotism is just sheer repetition and internalization of ideas, I could see it working.

Speaking of hypnosis [or...something like it], check out this Canadian YouTube ad from an Ontario Indigenous reserve. It's like they are trying to brainwash Indigenous people into sobriety by just repeating it over and over again:
