Jesus, great stretch but looks like a pec tear just begging to happen.
I`ve got a pic or two with Franco at a contest I did,a pretty funny and good natured guy....gotta` dig some out and scan those bad boys..........also have pics of the 84 Olympia, among others.

In the very late Eighties (I think) he did an autograph signing at a supp store near my gym.
My training partner and I went.
No one was there.
Franco was seated behind a tiny table, looking like he smelled a rancid fart.
Nice enough guy. Looked fantastic.

He flexed his arm and told me as I stood next to him for the pic to flex mine........I said no thanks! :D
He was huge!!

I want to try doing flyes like that... but I’d be afraid to go higher than 20LB dumbbells

Yes, that was an insane stretch he got on flies. I thought the same thing that he could get a tear going that extreme.

I`d never risk them tearing a pec......regular full ROM flyes are quite sufficient.

Haven't heard the name in years. What's he doing these days?

Loved watching that show. Every month I couldn't wait till a new episode came out.

I hear you. But there are a lot of experts and trainers who say it's training in there very stretched positions that causes hyperthrophy the most according the science. Here's an exmple, a phd and also trains himself showing a trick:

Those guys training Nick Walker recently believe in this also.

I have started doing a much fuller range of motion now since I spoke to the myofacial massage guy
Bodybuilding tends to work the mucles though a shrter range of motion, that why BB are always getting knots and lumps building up on the fascia which then lead to spasms and pulls

Dante aka Doggcrapp and John Parillo were/are big proponents of fascia stretching which makes total sense to me, but those flyes looked dangerous....of course if one was to increase the ROM slowly and steadily over time, you`d probably be OK with doing them.
