His leg injuries were about the most brutal bodybuilding injuries ever.

Is it safe to say that horrifying 2002 Chris Lund photoshoot injury extended his life significantly?

Never heard of this guy Fux. Doubt I'll be clicking, TBH.

I went for eats after Musclemania Worlds in California. JP was a friend of Markus Reinhardt who was also competing. He saw some hair still on my tricep and said to me "Irvin Gelb would send you away and have you come back next week for that"...look what this total obedience to the photographer gods brought to him. But yes it probably extended his life.

That surprises me. He was a mass monster from the 1990's. He had a horrible legs injury in 2002, and he came back for a Night of Champions, I believe the following year, then stopped competing in pro bodybuilding.

He was just a giant man. Not the most refined bodybuilder around - but definitely one of the biggest. I think he was around 5'11" [tall for a bodybuilder], and had to be something like 285+ in contest. That's why I'm surprised you never heard of him, Phantom - he wasn't the winningest pro around by any means...but he was definitely a size curiosity on par with Markus Ruhl and Greg Kovacs. Sort of in between the two, in terms of bodybuilding success.

He seems to have gotten off the gear later on, which I think was only a good thing.

Markus was in Mike Mentzer's HIT DVD, right?

Did you live in the states for a time Ro.....I noticed you competed in quite a few contests here.

You don`t have to answer if it`s too personal obviously.

Yes, I visited twice prior to 2002 then moved to Miami Beach. I was in the States from 2002-end of 2008, I married a Jewish American woman and had a green card.

Fux never placed well but the magazines loved him. He was loaded, head to toe with tons of muscle. Kind of odd shape in some ways. In other ways very impressive.  There's a back shot of Fux and it's always mistaken for Dorian. I think Dorian was on the Joe Rogan podcast and they were looking back at pics of Doz when he competed and they put up that picture of Fux. Rogan went on about how big Doz was and Doz is agreeing 'yeah, yeah that's an awesome picture.  Too bad it's not me though.'

Correct.

Oh wow.

To my eye, Markus looked amazing in that Mike Mentzer HIT DVD. He had a very similar physique to your own, BigRo. Someone who seemed to about mass with class. I felt that 5'10" and 220-lb was a great look, that looked somehow attainable [it's not], and just had a great look.

And your comment about the photographer gods was bang on.

I was really just wanting to play on the phrase 'this guy fucks', but no, can't say that I've ever heard of him. To be honest, I don't follow professional bodybuilding at all now; I think it's an embarrassing farce. I'll always love lifting weights, but pro bodybuilding is just a weird cult of losers who lie about their massive drug use.

Didnt watch the video but I remember him saying his slin protocols were designed by a fellow gym buddy in Switzerland who was a board-certified diabetologist.

He said that modern protocols werent that different from what he was doing in his prime.

How do you know? Maybe their drug use isn't as "massive" as you might think and your genetics just suck.... ???

Same way that I know you're a shit-sniffing German sex offender with an arse like a torn-out fireplace. It's called common sense. That, and the autopsy reports, along with various retired pros admitting their dosages.

Their genetics are the best in the world + their drug stack is absolutely massive.

p.s. you are a penis puffer

Winning through losing.

That's what former Getbigger Goatboy thought.

It's interesting - if you lift weights and want to put on a bit of muscle mass, where would you go to learn more?

Bodybuilding magazines back in the day - or bodybuilding message boards. Bodybuilding content.

So by default, the hearty act of lifting weights and training gets associated with what is basically a drug addled cult.

And you sort of can't separate the two.

So you end up with plenty of people who are adjacent to the bodybuilding world, but find its professional competitive side to be deplorable.

I get that.

It's also a drag that you can't have any level of success in bodybuilding without essentially being a drug addict.

I don't see this circle getting squared in any way.

Winning through losing.

Yes, actually.

That same year, Don Youngblood tore his triceps doing a Chris Lund photo shoot, bench pressing 585-lb in contest condition.

Orville Burke also had a triceps injury in a Chris Lund photo shoot in 2002, if I recall correctly. He then had to undergo surgery, which caused him serious problems.

But Chris got out pretty healthy, from what I can tell.

I doubt Youngblood could even do 455, never mind anything close to 585. Even the strongest top bbers like Ronnie or Kevin can’t do anything close to 585

Not safe to do photo shoots with Chris Lund.

I always thought Fux was amazing, his overall size and his biceps/forearms were out of this world
