Damn, imagine what he was squatting at 30 after more drugs and years training?
-
Yes must have been over 1000 at his biggest and strongest.

That depends if he continued on with a Strength & power routine,
and if his goal / desire was to squat heavier poundages.

Jay was doing bodybuilding type training at 19.
-

I know, right. Look at all those training videos in which he’s handling that.
-
mentzer said something similar in a weider mag when i was 14.
he could full squat 500 and quarter squat 700 by age 15.
i destroyed my back trying to quarter squat 400 before i hit puberty.
back has been (hazbin?) fukked ever since.

Can you fill me in on it?

Using his own body as resistance would be mere calisthenics for Jay.

In a way that's almost like pulling himself up by his own bootstraps.

Jay was tired of strength training by 19 1/2 and decided to focus only on bodybuilding training from that point. He left a lot of strength on the gym floor.
He was completely into egoless training but fed that ego by bodybuilding and walking around gyms pant-less in his 30s.

You know for sure how he was training ?
And does bodybuilding training prevent him from going heavier?
There are many examples of very strong bodybuilders using heavyweights
IIRC one deadlifted 800lbs very close to a Mr Olympia contest.

I heard of this, I also heard Kai Greene benched 500 lbs as a natty teenager, if I'm not mistaken. You hear all kinds of stuff, like Mike O'Hearn is natty, etc
-
"Squatted" means nothing unless you see the execution. I can sqaut 700, 500, 400, just depends on the depth required lol.
-
Damn, imagine what he was squatting at 30 after more drugs and years training?
Jay did not lift heavy. Which is why he never had injuries like Dorian and Ronnie. He's mentioned this in videos with Larry Wheels and a few others.
-
All horse shit
-
Also Jay benched 550 lbs for 2 reps, he said it himself. Lou Ferrigno claims he benched 560 lbs, who knows???? Hey I'm natty and I can squat over 500 lbs, so these juiced up freaks can't squat 1000 or bench 500??? Right...

Jay couldn't bench that much. I see him repping with 315 lbs though...

More importantly has anyone on getbig squatted 700lbs to depth?
-
Who cares!
-
This matter seems to be very important to you.
Don't know how you reached that conclusion,
I don't know Jay personally or what training he did at 19
& I don't remotely care.
Just giving my 2 pence worth.
HTH

More importantly has anyone on getbig squatted 700lbs to depth?
I can't squat to depth with just a bar. Hard even with weight on. Something to do with body mechanics I guess. Can't go deep on leg presses either. Nick Walker looked cool for the fairly recent depth pics on the leg press and smith machine. I CAN hit depth on the smith though by stepping forward a bit. But it feels like lots of parts crack and protest deep squats. Chest bones cracks, hips hurt, chest tries to cave in. The muscles though, they feel GOOD. Pendulum works also.

Those inclines with barbells and dumbbells he did in the video were pretty heavy if I recall..... 400 on the incline for reps with ease.
-
More importantly has anyone on getbig squatted 700lbs to depth?
yes back in the stone age when younger & stronger
at a bodyweight around 100kg /220lbs
Have done partials to above parrallel with over 900lbs
Fuck thaey were heavy & my whole trunk / back etc would
ache for days, even painful breathing deeply - madness
of 40+ year old youth. ;D
-

I believe Ray Mentzer claimed he did a 925 lb squat, let that sink in

More importantly has anyone on getbig squatted 700lbs to depth?
Likely no. There are some lifts we can reasonably believe. Like, if a guy on here with much experience said, "My bench was 375," we can believe it because many men, natural and aided, with the necessary muscle mass, can bench that. Once people go into territory of 405 and above, there can be reasonable skepticism, though some men can do that. 500 and beyond? I think video is needed.
Same goes for partial squats with 900? Video please.

You’re right. Ray Mentzer is sinking in nicely as we speak

Speaking for myself personally:
I started training for strength on August 29th. This is why I got so annoyed with B. Hank claiming to be stronger. Like, come on! Give me some time to get back on my program...sheesh.
Anyway, I was just shaving yesterday, and without a doubt - I am a lot flatter.
I'm stronger, but unquestionably look weaker. And I'm only 40 days in. As time goes on, I will get smaller, yet get considerably stronger.
Now, as for Jay...I think he MAY have put 700 on the bar and did a dinky little 1/4 rep. I could maybe believe that. Though 700 is a lot even to un-rack.
Heck, I would say even to squat 700 for a foot would probably be a 405+ or 450+ full squat.
So I don't know...Jay was strong when he was younger though. I remember a picture of him picking up a picnic table when he was 18. But a 700 squat is another matter.

I also hate squats, for certain reasons.
I get knee valgus [knee buckling] while squatting. But by strengthening my legs with heavy leg presses and following Ed Coan's advice ["open your taint"], I feel like my squats will get better.
joswift was saying - there's no benefit you get from squats that you can't get from leg extensions or other exercises [for bodybuilding]. And in Strongman, they do unorthodox squats [usually only to around parallel].
So I consider squats to be a powerlifting enterprise.
I'm trying to hit that 450 squat, just as a personal goal + to show up B. Hank.
-
You sir are a beast.
Ha, Maybe & Now its was .
I can't do them kind of poundages now.
I've not worked up to a max squat in I don't know how long,
I'd guess around 450ish would be as much as I can do without
Specifically concentrating on it for 3mnths .
Hell I did some partials after a squat workout a few weeks back
Only going to 550lbs & Jeez that felt so damn heavy.
-

450 would fold me like a cheap chair. Still damn strong.

Please be kind to Bhanky and use some lube for the current ass fucking you're giving him

Jay could squat 700 just as many times as he was able to do pullups
-
450 would fold me like a cheap chair. Still damn strong.
Nah - Rob you're big enough & strong enough to handle that weight easy enough,
If you so wished to train for it.
-
"... and then I went over and benched 540! I was going to deadlift 900 but the gym owner came over and said I was too young at 19 to be doing that so I didn't. I then rode the bike instead cause I wanted to lose weight for the summer."
-
Jay could probably lift a fridge if he put his mind to it
Winner

Bodybuilding stars , all of them at some point start to believe their own lies.
Jay is no exception, and with his YouTube channel he will keep exaggerating every thing
But dosages.

Exaggerate lifts, measurements, weight, but downplay dosages
-
Did he perhaps have 700 on the bar?
I’d believe that.
Did he perform a squat with it to anything resembling a legit depth?
Not a chance in Hades.
-
BULLSHIT!
There's a video in youtube where Ray himself says this, idk, maybe he did it, but did he reach parallel? that's another story
-

If I remember correctly, Ronnie claimed he reached 21'' arms as a natty, let that sink in

That claim by Ray is ABSOLUTE HORSESHIT.
For him to state such a thing is to expose himself as either a wilful liar or a guy with zero understanding of just how astoundingly heavy 900 pounds is.
-

For him to state such a thing is to expose himself as either a wilful liar or a guy with zero understanding of just how astoundingly heavy 900 pounds is.
When I first read that claim years ago, I assumed Ray must have been a world class powerlifter - or at least a squat specialist.
It is incredible the lies some people tell. It's as if they have zero grasp of what a realistic lie is.
As an example of this closer to home, JustPlaneJane claimed "she" ran 100m in 11.11s [her account is owned by a man pretending to be a woman].
So I checked the records, and sub-11.11s has only been ran 48 times by German women [he claims to be a German American woman]. And only 16 German women ran 11.11s or faster [on a total of 48 separate occasions].
In the USA, the fastest White American woman ever is Jenna Prandini, whose fastest 100m time was 10.92s.
And JustPlaneJane claimed 11.11s. Oh - but Walter Sobchak [whose weight "she" verified for him as being 235-lb, then edited the post to 245-lb ;D] advised "her" not to share the video here.
LOL.
Could these people be more full of shit?
Who the fuck lies and claims WORLD RECORD accomplishments, without evidence?
It makes me wonder if these people work out at all.
JustPlaneJane, I don't think does - but Ray should have known better.
-
Please be kind to Bhanky and use some lube for the current ass fucking you're giving him
;D ;D ;D
I hope I can get 450!
To be honest, I thought my 375 was "ok" [an inch or two too high for the tastes of myself, and Fortress], but a sturdy/strong pair of knee wraps alone should get me to 405 once I work them in.
Then the question becomes - can add 40 or so LB's to that squat in 12 weeks, while improving my depth?
?
Oh...and then maintain that as I drop down to 185. ;D
I'm getting ahead of myself, but let's just say:
I'll get 405-lb solidly to parallel with a pair of knee wraps. :)
I'm aiming higher! But I will at least be in the 405+ range.
Actually, if I get 400, I'll do what B. Hank does, and I'll claim that I squat between "400 and 500".
;D ;D ;D
-
19 years old squatting 700lbs must be near world record level status, so JAY got weaker while weighing 70-100lbs more, and taking tons of drugs and steroids, that's impressive :D
-
If I remember correctly, Ronnie claimed he reached 21'' arms as a natty, let that sink in
people actually believe Ronnie was natural competing, and turned pro natural, truly retarded and have never dieted to an extremely low bodyfat as a natural :D

A man lifting 700lbs of Jay Cutlers
-
Exaggerate lifts, measurements, weight, but downplay dosages
Jay lies or exaggerates everything now. Like the claims he spent 100k a year or more just on food when he competed. There’s no way he spent that much 15-20 years ago.
And if you watch old vids of cutler, he always trained with a loose form. The heavier he trained, the sloppier the form.

Have you heard the claims of bodybuilder Mubarak or something like that, his strength claims were absolutely insane, also Craig Titus I believe he claimed he could do close grip bench presses with 405 lbs for like 12 reps
-
You sir are a beast.

Maybe Jay and Ray meant on leg press.

Partial pump-style reps, I believe that.

Every video I see of him now squatting is 185lbs. It's bodybuilding and not powerlifting though. If he can have those great retirement legs at 50 with 185lbs he is doing great.
The last video he did he said he was taking a break from training because he was burnt out. I wonder if after fit for fifty challenge he just completed he needs to lower the dose?
-
As a teen, Jay’s quads where overdeveloped. Obviously he was genetically superior when it came to quad growth. I bet that he could squat 500LB as a teen. But definitely not 700LB (unless it was one of those short power rack partial movements)
-

I trained in the same gym as Jeff King when he was a teen..............huge quads, and the most I have ever seen him rep out on was about 465 or so,and this was later on in years...still a young guy,but no longer a teen.
I`m sure he could have done more if he trained for it.
-
I think Jay was about 15 or 16 years old in this pic
-

Granted,he`s got insane genetics, but let`s just hypothetically say he started training at 13.....in 6 years time at 19, he`d be squatting 700.......no fucking way bro. :D
-
I saw Ray squat 700 lbs in his muscle mill gym in Redondo Beach very easy for reps. Granted he was jacked. Ray was much stronger than Mike and in my opinion had a better physique. I sometimes met Ray for breakfast at Rocky Cola Cafe in Redondo Beach. His breakfast was probable 2000 calories. I could not believe what he ate. Very interesting guy, but then i guess he started going downhill with his brother. Sad..

That’s seven plates a side plus change. Not a chance.
