Throw 3-4 plates on the glute bridge thing and then squat 115, or do a goblet squat with a 45 lb dumbbell???
I dont get it... i keep seeing this "phenomenon" on instagram, youtube, etc. "influencer" pages. Some of these girls have beastly legs and ofc glutes, there is no way these squats are doing fuck all for their development, right?

I don't get it either. Lower body seems to be all they train, but there are so many issues with the way they do it.
They seem to neglect quads. No leg press or leg extension when training lower body. Just hip thrusts, hip thrusts, and more hip thrusts. Then stiff legged deadlifts and call it a day.
The shorts they wear and shoes seem to be the most critical part of the equation along with looking phone and texting between sets.
For the young guys it's just flat bench for chest and cables for arms.

I just find it baffling how i see these girls with monster quads doing baby weight on squat... its like the hip thrust is the only exercise they have license to train heavy on.
Side note, I still have no idea why they do this over deadlift...

This is 100% spot on. At my gym girls literally just sit and wait for 30 minutes to get on one of the smith machines hiding their own neck roll to then get on and spend the next 30 minutes doing hip thrusts. Then they grab a couple dumbbells and do the stiff leg deadlifts for 30. They all occupy every fucking squat rack now with this shit.

Thats why i primarily lift at home now. Dont get me wrong i miss the different machines ect at the gym but i always hated waiting on a squat rack with 3 teens doing curls in it or women with there hip thrusts

Hip thrusts are easier... We have a guy, loads 5 45's a side and does thrusts w/ 500 pounds. (A fool).

Barbell hip thrusts might be the dumbest exercise ever. Why would you want a loaded up barbell jamming into your pelvic area?

deads can cause growth nearly everywhere on your backside (traps, lats, delts, forearms, waist, core, low back, quads, hams and ass) hip thrusts put the growth only on the ass and hams, so if you want to spot gain on yo ass it's the ticket

Glad I'm not alone in hating this fucking over-hyped and over-rated exercise. And the girls who do it (and the handful of guys who saw the Rock do them so figure it's a good movement). One of the gyms I go to got refurbished and now has not only a specialist bench but also a plate-loaded machine for it. Still some girls will take one of the regular benches and take up space doing them somewhere inconvenient to other users.
