Three-part Netflix special on John Gotti and his trials over the years. Part one and two were good shows how he beat the first two trials easy. part three really picked up with the wire taps, and how they went to every extreme to nail him and how his celebrity rose the last two years before they finally caught him. He was like a god in the area of New York. The wire taps were really good every curse word out of his mouth about whacking people, loansharking, etc. if he was more like Castellano and the old-school mobsters probably would’ve not got caught or indicted as bad as he did, but he wanted to be larger than.life. The Gravano flip was big to the FBI and the case.

Just finished part 3. Great show. I think I liked Fear City a little better. Did you see that yet? It's on Netflix too.

It was bound to fall anyway as law enforcement got way too sophisticated after the mid 80s and they started using the RICO cheat code. They got all the bosses on the commission case before Gotti.
Any criminal organisation that big will get butt fucked by 1st world law enforcement agencies once they're on the radar. They were already on the radar on a legendary level because of movies like the Godfather.
It's like that Irish gang, the Kinehans. They managed to operate at a cartel level in a 1st world country but once they got on the radar internationally, the noose has kept getting tighter on them.

He posed in his wife's leopard print and asked who wore it better?

I agree. I'm a fan of mob movies, Godfather 1 and 2, Goodfellas, Donnie Brasco, Sopranos, etc.
It's interesting to get the background on how the FBI made the case and the rivalry between the government agencies.
Definitely worth a watch.

Prior to becoming, the Teflon, Don and the Brioni suit wearing Don, if you look at his earlier mug shot pictures, he looks like a tough thug with the darker hair grease back and he had to come and punch me in the face look going to the hair salon and getting his nails done and wearing his silky suits. Do you want to be a movie star. His crew were tough guys. They ran drugs, Witch Paul Castellano hated. Castalano wanted to take him out Gotti he beat him to the punch.. The problem was, he took out a mob boss, which was never done before by a lower level guy even a capo, and didn’t have authorization from the other families to do such a thing Witch why would he do that usually when a guy moves up from a boss that either dies goes to jail or retires lol it Hass to be recognized and given like like Vinny the chin he was Vito, Genovese driver. Paul Castellano was related to Carlo Gambino. At the end of the day. John he suffered terribly in jail once he got cancer And his son didn’t want a successor, but didn’t have the chops for it and he was a trial numerous times. All he wanted to do was be a father has five kids and move on. He made a lot of money at the end of the day and lives probably a good life under the radar.

Fear City and Get Gotti are made by the same people. Get Gotti seems to be a continuation of Fear City. They interview the same people. Six episodes in total, three episodes for each series.
John Gotti also put the hit on Tommy DeSimone, the Joe Pesci character in Goodfellas.

there was talk in numerous counts that 3 guys were present on the hit on the irish guy that gave gotti his button they say he didn't pull the trigger.which of course you need to get initiated into the life.

The meatball with the glasses who (I think he's the one) castrated some guy in Florida is now one of those former mobsters trying to steer others away from the life and has a website and podcast and a youtube channel. But in the Netflix show, he's a Gotti buttboy and shows zero remorse for what he and others did.

@NJ - what are your thoughts on The Many Saints of Newark? The 1st time I watched it, I wasn't blown away although the movie got better as it went on. After that I rewatched the Sopranos and now when I watch Many Saints, it's one of my favorite gangster movies of all time. I'm irritated that they aren't planning on doing another one.

Way too many blacks in it to be realistic
The Mafia didnt have anything to do with black people

Bearing in mind it was meant to be a young Tony Soprano and a prequel to the Sopranos I dont remeber him being too fond of blacks during the series run
-
The episode when Meadow brought home the black jew was probably Tony's finest hour. ;D

Well, the area they filmed that movie at one time like Paterson, New Jersey was all Italians, and then as element moved in Italians moved to more affluent towns in those areas as opposed to Paterson or Newark. Only old school old guard stayed around. And yes, in most modern movies a black person is used either to do the dirty work be killed or set up to be killed. I enjoyed the movie. I thought it was good. Getting the kids to fall into the role and be like his father is gonna be tough and maybe not in the cards for him
