Chad was invited to compete at the 2024 Arnold Classic USA...
From Nick Scott...
RIP Chad McCrary @ifbbprochadmccrary

I have received many emails, texts, messages, and calls today. I have been on the phone with Chad's family and friends for the last couple of hours. Chad passed away this morning or yesterday. Once I know more, and depending on the statement the family and friends want to make, I will let everyone know. I am in shock; Chad and I have gone back since 2008, and I am at a loss for words. I spoke with him just a few weeks ago. I am numb right now and struggling to find the words.
Chad was a phenomenal athlete and person. Some of his dreams were to compete at the Arnold and Olympia, and it is my honor to have seen him compete on those stages. Another dream he had for the longest time was to be signed by a company, which Mutant fulfilled by signing him as an athlete. He not only represented Mutant at multiple booths but also served as an athlete. Thank you, Mutant

Damn. He was way too young.
Does being paraplegic in and of itself increase the risk of a young death?
I had the privilege of interviewing Nick Scott at the 2013 Toronto Pro. He had an extremely optimistic outlook, despite his disability:

Why is he in a wheelchair if he can walk?

Age at time of injury, area, and degree of injury play a part. Some people, it will shave a good amount off of their lifespan, others not so much, but it usually shortens all spinal cord injury patents lives by a degree.
RIP to this fellow.
