I know a guy who was low carb, high fat for ten years who fit the LMHR numbers.

Lean and very fit, high HDL (70), low trigs (50), good A1C (5.5), normal BP (125/75), but high LDL (230).

Guy had a heart attack two months ago with major blockages.

That’s an abysmal summary of his study.

Quote
In conclusion, in this case study experiment, short-term Oreo supplementation lowered LDL-C more than 6 weeks of high-intensity statin therapy in an LMHR subject on a ketogenic diet.

Very interesting, but not for the reason you posted.  Thanks all the same.

But there's also nothing wrong with planning goals for the new year and working to accomplish.

But I will say making them when you know there is no chance of accomplishing (irongrip getting ripped, etc) is just a waste of time.

What was his calcium score?  Did he even check?  LMHR numbers include a zero or near zero calcium score.

As for the Oreo cookies, in this particular experiment for this particular individual, increasing carbs from any source would have had the same impact.

Since when does a LMHR candidate need a zero calcium score to fall into that phenotype?

——————

“In 2017, co-author Dave Feldman observed a trend: individuals who were lean and athletic tended to observe larger increases in LDL cholesterol (LDL-C) on carbohydrate-restricted diets (CRDs). He also noted that these cases of diet-induced increases in LDL-C co-occurred with increases in HDL-C and decreases in triglycerides (TG), giving rise to a combination lipid profile opposite to that of atherogenic dyslipidemia. The cut points chosen to characterize this phenotype included LDL-C ≥ 200, HDL-C ≥ 80, and TG ≤ 70 mg/dl, and were selected on the basis of empiric observation and based on the fact that each threshold is rare in the general population and, thus, the chance that any individual would pass all three cut points simultaneously—rather than as part of a triad—is highly unlikely. This lipid triad was termed the “Lean Mass Hyper-Responder” (LMHR) phenotype (1), given the apparent lean nature of individuals in whom it presented.”

——————

From what I have seen they need to be lean and have the lipid numbers like the guy I mentioned.

I have no idea if he had a calcium score test before this event btw but he definitely thought he fitted that category and was a member of all their Facebook groups etc.
