Verdict just read.
The Orange-A-Tardo from Mar-A-Lardo gets slapped with a $355 Million fine. His idiotic sons Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum get nailed with $4 Million each.
Yeah, yeah... appeal is coming but that appeal bond / escrow is still going to need to be funded. Get out your debit cards Red Hats... you know a whining grifting email in incoming.
-
Dude, you're smart enough to know this is absolutely preposterous, and will end up making more a farce out of our judicial system.
-
Trump's fine and how they impact him personally is beyond the scope of my financial expertise.
To better understand the implications of Trump's financial woes, read this ABC News article:
Trump could face $450 million in fines. Does he have the money to pay?

If he were completely banned and his organization dismantled as would initially suspected the verdict would be.... yeah, I would agree with you.
But someone blatantly lying and deliberately providing fraudulent numbers? He won this prize.
As the judge stated prior :
“A discrepancy of this order of magnitude, by a real estate developer sizing up his own living space of decades, can only be considered fraud,” Engoron concluded in his 35-page September ruling.
“In defendants’ world: rent regulated apartments are worth the same as unregulated apartments; restricted land is worth the same as unrestricted land; restrictions can evaporate into thin air; a disclaimer by one party casting responsibility on another party exonerates the other party’s lies,” Engoron wrote. “That is a fantasy world, not the real world.”

3-year ban from Getbig?
-
3-year ban from Getbig?
Well, we can hope.
-
Well the orange toddler has racked up a total of $438,000,000.00* in judgements against him because he can't stop lying or just keep his mouth shut in general with these civil fraud and defamation suits.
*And that is not counting the $100,000,000.00 in interest that the judge said he will be responsible for going back years.
I think it is safe to assume he won't be making the Forbes list again this year. :'(
Looks like you Trumpturds are going to have to start working second jobs to pay his bills.

I’m a nobody, and when I fill out a PFS with my bank they never send anyone to appraise any of my properties. Shit, my shop/yard is assessed with the city at $810,000 and when I listed it less than a year ago I had 3 offers in 24 hour with one being above asking at $1.4 million. I rejected the offers but anyway, my real estate agent said “hey, this is real, if the bank ever jerks you around you have real value here based on these offers”. I got no appraisal but end of the year when I renewed my LOC, I put the value to $1.4 on that piece of property and it significantly increased my net worth. I assume Trump did the same shit and didn’t think anything of it. He’s made all of his payments, and didn’t hurt anybody. What happens now if he has to pay 20% of his money and most likely all of his cash to these judgements? Shit, he can file bankruptcy and not pay any of it and probably keep his property. Now someone gets “hurt” because they forced his hand.

You're not wrong very often G but I think you've missed the ballpark on this.

No, what he did was fraudulently increased claiming the size of the apartment. Saying it was much much bigger than it actually was. While your increase could easily be justified, there is no way to explain where the imaginary size increase came from.

No he’s not. I guarantee he’s not. But here’s a thought for Trump. Take it to appeal. After he gets his judgment, sell off everything that’s Trump in NY. Buildings, licensing, corporations, everything. Take his tax hundreds of millions that he gives in tax revenue and rebuild in another or multiple red states in red counties across the country. Fuck over NYC and I mean REALLY fuck over NYC in that way then exploit the shit out of Engoron and James laying full blame on them. NYC is 98% Dem. Since Guiliani got out of office, NYC has been steadily going to shit, it’s now there. Let the fucker burn.

The dumbest poster on the board judging someone else's intellect. ::) I love your "guarantees". Because they never pan out. Fake birth certificate, Pizza parlor, Hillary going to jail, Bengihahahaha, stolen election, Epps, etc.. The level of stupidity would be crippling for the average person. But you have lots of practice at it.
You realize he still have to fund an escrow or appeal bond before going to appeal.
You better start sending in more money each week.

You really believe this don't you??? Trump can't make any decision on his businesses in New York anymore for 3 years....his sons....2 years.
He's welcome to appeal but in order to do so, he will have to pay the judgement in full plus interest immediately

What do you think he's going to do to them Coach? Letitia James has prosecutorial immunity and Engoron has absolute immunity, meaning even if he had malicious intent he still has immunity. I disagree with both but such is the corrupt legal system.

I said after the appeal to find out, if the appeal doesn’t pan out then he can take it to the NY Supreme Court. No matter how long it takes. No, the fine isn’t technically paid until the final ruling. He does, however have to put the money in as collateral for the final ruling then whatever is ruled is released, whatever is left over goes back to him.

True, but they might able to be removed in one of two ways. The first being that they’re both elected officials. After this, a lot of businesses will more than likely bail out of the city or the state with the thinking if this can happen to Trump it can happen to them. I guarantee that most business owners are behind Trump, his entities bring major traffic to those other businesses. If you’ve ever been to Trump tower (for example) you know what I mean. If anything, they can be voted out. Trump can easily make the case to NYer’s that because of this frivolous ruling they have effectively killed businesses in NY.
The second, is prosecutorial misconduct on both Egdoron and James. James especially for running for her position on the sole purpose of “getting Trump” (her words) she might be dirtier than Letitia James. NYC is shithole and is hemorrhaging city revenue with crime and migrants not to mention Bragg not hardly prosecuted any crimes by migrants or blacks. People can’t protect themselves hardly in anyway and they do, the victims go to jail NOT the criminals and Adams is completely useless. I’m supposed to go there in a couple of weeks and I’m not looking forward to it. Let that shithole burn. It’s the least that could happen since they voted for it
To be fair, 99% of Dem ran cities and counties are shitholes which is why I’m happy in my Orange County bubble but that may come to an next year

https://www.cnn.com/2024/02/15/business/trump-spac-truth-social-stock/index.html
Shares of Digital World, a special purpose acquisition company, or SPAC, spiked 15% on the major milestone. The stock has nearly tripled this year, fueled by Trump’s political success in the Republican presidential primary, and now the merger progress.
Ritter estimates the merger could pave the way for about $270 million of cash coming into Trump Media, funds the company could fuel Truth Social’s growth.
Trump is set to hold a dominant position in the newly-combined company, owning roughly 79 million shares, according to new SEC filings.
The former president’s stake would be valued at $4 billion based on Digital World’s current trading price of about $50.
Of course, as Ritter notes, it would be very difficult for Trump to translate that paper wealth into actual cash.
I don't think Trump is too worried about setting aside a few million.

Depending on property tax laws in the State where you live the property tax assessment is often not the same as real property value. Lender appraisals can also differ from actual sales price. For example, the Oregon Constitution limits the rate of growth of property value subject to taxation. The limit is based on a property's maximum assessed value (MAV). MAV can't increase by more than 3 percent each year, unless there are changes to the property, such as the addition of a new structure, a major improvement of an existing structure, or subdivision or partition of the property. This means that a newly built property of equal market value will have a higher accessed value than most older properties would.
In this situation, Trump's company cannot file bankruptcy to avoid the debt. He could file for personal bankruptcy, which amazingly he claims he has not ever done. He also could liquidate properties to raise money to pay the fine plus interest... total with penalties is estimated at $454 million. His assets could be seized if he does not pay.
Appealing the judge’s decision could very well be more expensive than paying the fines, plus interest and penalties. If he appeals, he will need to pay what he owes to escrow until the case is resolved in his favor, which legal experts suggest is unlikely.

The best part is that he is prohibited from moving or transferring business assets without notifying the monitor first. :)
So in part, he either has to liquidate or the red hat morons have to work two jobs and send him more money. :D

BREAKING REPORT: Truckers Plan to Stop Shipments to NYC in Response to Political Hack Judge Engoron’s $238 Million Ruling Against Trump and His Sons (VIDEO)
Truckers to the rescue—again.
Truckers bravely exposed some of the worst COVID shutdowns in the world when they parked their trucks in Ottowa to protest the iron-fisted approach used against citizens by the Justin Trudeau regime. Truckers in the US showed solidarity for their Canadian neighbors and helped block shipping between the US and Canada in Detroit, Michigan. Democrat Governor Gretchen Whitmer, who was being considered for Joe Biden’s VP, quickly threatened arrest for truckers who dared to block the Ambassador Bridge.
American truckers are now reportedly threatening to stop deliveries into New York City over the grotesque $364 million judgment against President Trump and his sons Don Jr. and Eric by partisan hack Judge Engoron on Friday.
Aside from first responders, is there another profession in the United States that proudly wears patriotism on its sleeves like the American trucker?
An American trucker who goes by “Chicago Ray” had this to say in a video he shared on social media, where he explained why truckers across America are planning to stop delivering to NYC.

“I’ve been on the radio talking to drivers for the last hour and fifteen minutes, and I’ve talked to at least ten drivers going the other way. I’m heading down from South Wisconsin. And they’re [other truckers] gonna start refusing loads to New York City, starting on Monday for NYC. I talked to about three guys that I work with who texted the boss and told him they’re not going to New York City.
I don’t know how far across the country this is or how many truckers are gonna start denying loads to go to New York City, but I’ll tell you what—you f**k around and find out!”
Okay? We’re tired of you motherf**kin’ leftists f**king around with Donald Trump.
You know, motherf**kers are starting to get tired of this shit—and our bosses don’t care if we’re denying the loads into New York; we’ll go somewhere else.”
I don’t wish nothin’ on nobody, but what I’m hearing—this is real!
Ya, know—we’ll see. Leave Trump the f**k alone with the bullshit! Alright? You know you ain’t got shit on Trump, so cut the bullshit! He’s gonna win this motherf**ker on appeal, but it’s still—you know how bullshit! It’s election interference.
I hate to say it, but Truckers are for Trump. We’re like 95% – 96% out here—-all Trump. Ain’t no motherf**kers for Biden!
“I’ll let ya know what else I hear by the time Monday rolls around,” he said, adding, “I’ll see ya down the road!”

A former Trucker who ran against never-Trump and former Congressman Adam Kinsinger (RINO-IL) for Congress announced that a movement has begun within the trucker community “who are tired of the warfare against Trump” and are planning to stop making deliveries to New York City in protest against a government that is attacking President Trump while ignoring them.

Coach, there are well over 100,000 commerical trucks that come in and out of New York City on a daily basis. To even have an effect, you would need about 20k of those trucks to stop driving....every single day AND without having another truck driver replace him or her which is what they would do.
Sorry but it isn't going to happen.

This is really going to work. Hahahahhahaaaaaaa. Another pathetic little hope and dream that will be crushed.

This is what happens when you’ve never created a job or signed a paycheck in your life and know zip about how businesses work, LET IT BURN…
Kathy Hochul Fails to Reassure NY Businesses Trump Penalty ‘Nothing to Worry About’
Gov. Kathy Hochul (D-NY) tried and failed to reassure businesses that they “have nothing to worry about” after a recent penalty ruling against former President Trump.
During an appearance on WABC 770 AM with The Cats Roundtable’s John Catsimatidis, Hochul was asked if New York businesses need to worry that if “they can do that to the former president, they can do that to anybody.”
“I think that this is really an extraordinary, unusual circumstance that the law-abiding and rule-following New Yorkers who are business people have nothing to worry about,” Hochul replied, “because they’re very different than Donald Trump and his behavior.”
This after Trump did nothing wrong but was still fined $355 million and banned from conducting any business in the state of New York for three years.
This civil fraud case was a glaring act of political persecution brought by New York State Attorney General Letitia James, who could find no victim nor any malfeasance. The claim that Trump inflated the value of his property to get bank loans was absurd on its face. The lenders said Trump did nothing wrong. The loans were paid back with interest.
WATCH: “She Committed Fraud!” Trump Blasts NY Attorney General Letitia James for “Election Interference”
Make no mistake, this was not only election interference against the leading opposition leader; it was a warning to other New York businesses they had better not stray from the Democrat Party Plantation.
No one with any sense should do business in New York. In this state, the Rule of Law has been exterminated to attack opposition leaders like Trump over nothing more than political differences. Why would anyone remain in New York with that kind of threat constantly hanging over their head? And you might think you are on the right side of political issues today… You might believe you are safe from this persecution from partisan attorneys general and judges today… But what about tomorrow? In less than a decade, Democrats went from embracing same-sex marriage to demanding men be allowed to share a locker room with your daughter and compete against her in sports. Where does the Democrat Party’s madness end? How much longer can a New York businessman remain in good political standing with the left? Democrats are already looking to normalize and legalize pedophilia. And let’s not forget…
Democrats now compel you to prove your fealty. It is no longer enough to remain silent. You must prove your loyalty by using the “correct” pronouns and hanging the “correct” signs because, in left-wing circles, silence equals death.
Hochul isn’t attempting to “reassure” New York businesses. What she’s doing is looking to sucker New York businesses into remaining and digging in further so they can be terrorized into doing the left’s political bidding or be bled dry like Trump Inc.
Ask yourself: If Trump is forced to pay that $335 million, who gets the money? No private person or corporation sued him. The state initiated this. So, who gets all that money?
Big business or small business, you’ve been warned. For no reason other than your political beliefs, you now know that the state is willing to swoop in and ruin you — steal everything you’ve worked for, smear your reputation, and annihilate your livelihood.
Only fools will continue to do business in New York.

Coach, there are well over 100,000 commerical trucks that come in and out of New York City on a daily basis. To even have an effect, you would need about 20k of those trucks to stop driving....every single day AND without having another truck driver replace him or her which is what they would do.
Sorry but it isn't going to happen.
100,000 tractors, Vince? Have you ever driven through NYC even in an Uber? Think about what you just said. Stop delivering to grocery stores and see what happens
-
I find it hard to believe that "truckers" will stage a boycott of New York. There might be a few idiots who put their jobs or business at risk, but for the most part who would want to do that for Trump?

Oh stop it.... you know the same people (red hats) crying they can't feed their families are going to be the very first ones to lose their jobs or get arrested for doing something stupid. Meanwhile, there are plenty more truckers to pick up the slack of any who won't make the run.
Hell the ChicagoRay moron himself has already taken his little video down. What does that tell you?

No shortage of independent truckers that would stand for principles that can pick up loads and deliver to other areas besides NYC. Not going to find a whole lot of liberal truckers. People like Lurker and Prime thinks that food magically appears in grocery stores by rainbow food unicorns.
Hypothetically, even if it didn't happen the financial disaster by Trump and other businesses pulling out of NYC would cripple it.

I don't see that happening. I would be very surprised if enough truckers choose to stand for principles and pick up loads and deliver to other areas besides NYC and if there are enough "available" routes for them to compensate for the loss of business in numbers that would impact the state of New York. All because Trump was treated unfairly (which he was IMO). These truckers also got to ask themselves....Had it been them and they were fined 18% of their net worth, would Trump do anything about it? Doubt it.
This all looks like propaganda puffery to me.

Sure but they actually have to do it. Good luck with that. And who is it really gonna hurt in the very remote chance they pull it off? It's not gonna hurt the Judge. It's not gonna hurt the AG. It's going to hurt the normal person just trying to make ends meets every month because a bunch of self-righteous MAGA-sprited truckers who got together to strike back at a state that fined a billionaire who broke the law?
Will they boycott delivering his shoes too? Asking for a friend... ;D

Nine months ago, truck drivers called for boycotts against Florida’s new penalties and restrictions on undocumented immigrants in the state that require employers to verify if workers are authorized to work in the U.S. When the day arrived, the boycott didn’t materialize. Ricardo Rivera, 49, who works as a driver in Florida, said one reason for the underwhelming impact could be that many do not own the trucks themselves. “And not all of us can afford to abandon a day’s work; it would mean less money for our families,” said Rivera.

Bye bye Trump branding. in 2018 Another Trump-branded building has decided to take down the Trump brand. The residents of a Manhattan condominium called “Trump Place” have voted to remove his name from the tower’s facade, the latest in a string of properties that have distanced themselves from the Trump brand since Election Day 2016.

I don't know how that protest worked out. Back in '22 Canadian truckers blocked lanes at the border crossing to protest their government's pandemic control measures. Truckers do have the advantage of having their protests being easily seen by a large number of folks because they spend most of their time on the road traveling from one place to another and truck trailers are akin to moving billboards.
Truckdrivers are disinclined to act in ways which would negatively affect their income.

For a change your post has some truth to it 'was one of the biggest names' is correct. The word ‘is’ is incorrect. Since he mostly sold his 'brand,' his name used to be prominently displayed on buildings he did not and does not own. Since around 2016, the visual Trump brand on properties is passé.
What Trump has is conditional as in owning space in a building or even the entire building, but not the land.

The cement company was claiming they relied on the design mix from the engineers while the contractors were claiming the batch was bad as the cement failed needing a complete re-do of all the shoring work and foundations in a huge cooling tower that required a massive amount of remediation as a result. Engoron was completely detached from reality and the army of lawyers eventually figured we would get some whacked out decision and we worked it out in the hallway on our own.

It is good that the attorneys were able to get it resolved. Was it a mutual agreement between the cement company and the contractors? Which litigant did you represent? How long ago was this?
I did a little reading about Judge Engoron. He has a interesting past. Once worked as a NY cab driver and spent 7 years as a piano and drum teacher; a moderately successful bar-band keyboard player. He is quoted as having once commented in regard to his cab driving experience, "I loved the freedom, the instant cash, getting to meet people, learning how to drive like a maniac without being caught." Engoron ran unopposed in his races within the Democratic Party. When voting, I've noted that most Judges run unopposed, which I find interesting. It is not like the average voter would know who to write in if they did not want to vote for an unopposed judge.

Whether or not there are victims is being heavily debated. To reduce his property taxes, Trump undervalued the same properties he overvalued to the lenders. The banks may or may not be victims here. However, cheating on your property taxes is not victimless. The real property tax money funds schools, pays for police and fire protection, maintains roads, and funds other municipal services enjoyed by residents. The bottom line is that fraud is a crime.

200 year old company employs half the town…gone. Only under democrat rule does this happen
Remington CEO Cites ‘Legislative Environment’ in New York as Company Moves to Georgia
Remington is leaving New York, and CEO Ken D’Arcy noted that the direction legislation took in the Empire State was a cause for concern.
The Associated Press (AP) noted that D’Arcy used a news release to indicate that New York’s “legislative environment” is concerning to the firearm industry as a whole.
The pending closure of Remington’s Ilion, New York, plant — launched in 1828 — marks the end of generations of New Yorkers working for the American gun maker.
Jim Conover began working at the Ilion plant in 1964 and continued to work for Remington for four decades. He commented on the pending closure, saying, “When Remington leaves, it’s not going to be like a facility leaving, it’s going to be like part of your family has moved off.”
On December 1, 2023, Breitbart News reported that Remington was closing the Ilion plant and the anticipated date of closure is early March 2024.
News Channel 2 noted that New York State Sen. Joseph Griffo (R), Assemblyman Brian Miller (R), and Assemblyman Robert Smullen (R) released a joint statement in response to the announced closure. The statement said:
Remington’s reported decision to close its Ilion plant next year is concerning and unfortunate. This facility, which received investment from the state, employs many local residents. Unfortunately, like we have seen all too often in New York, burdensome regulations, crippling taxes and problematic energy and other policies continue to force businesses and companies to flee the state, taking jobs and livelihoods with them. We will continue to communicate with state and federal officials and work to help and assist the company’s employees and their families during this difficult time.
In addition to all the regulations and taxes in New York, the state has so much gun control that Mike Bloomberg-affiliated Everytown for Gun Safety ranks it the No. 2 state in the Union for gun control laws.
Those gun controls include an “assault weapons” ban, a “high-capacity” magazine ban, universal background checks, a red flag law, gun storage requirements, “ghost gun” regulations, a microstamping requirement for new handguns, a ban on being armed on colllege or on K-12 campuses for self-defense or classroom defense, and stringent open carry regulations.

Letitia James says she's prepared to seize Trump's buildings if he can't pay his $354M civil fraud fine
https://abcnews.go.com/US/letitia-james-shes-prepared-seize-trumps-assets-pay/story?id=107381482 (https://abcnews.go.com/US/letitia-james-shes-prepared-seize-trumps-assets-pay/story?id=107381482)
Four days after a judge ordered former President Donald Trump to pay $354 million in his civil fraud case, New York Attorney General Letitia James told ABC News that she is prepared to seize the former president's assets if he is unable to find the cash to cover the fine.
"If he does not have funds to pay off the judgment, then we will seek judgment enforcement mechanisms in court, and we will ask the judge to seize his assets," James said in an interview with ABC News' Aaron Katersky.
Trump was fined $354.8 million plus approximately $100 million in pre-judgment interest on Friday after Judge Arthur Engoron determined that he inflated his net worth in order get more favorable loan terms.
MORE: Trump civil fraud case: Judge fines Trump $354 million, says frauds 'shock the conscience'
The former president has denied all wrongdoing and has said he will appeal.
Saying that she was "very confident" with the strength of her case on appeal, James reiterated that her office would not hesitate to seize Trump's assets -- mentioning Trump's 40 Wall Street skyscraper by name -- if the former president is unable to find the cash to cover the court-ordered disgorgement.
"We are prepared to make sure that the judgment is paid to New Yorkers, and yes, I look at 40 Wall Street each and every day," James said of the standard court process for collecting judgments in civil cases.
James directly countered Trump's allegation that the case lacked any victims, instead describing her case as vital to ensuring financial markets treat New Yorkers fairly.

"Financial frauds are not victimless crimes. He engaged in this massive amount of fraud. It wasn't just a simple mistake, a slight oversight, the variations are wildly exaggerated, and the extent of the fraud was staggering," James said. "If average New Yorkers went into a bank and submitted false documents, the government would throw the book at them, and the same should be true for former presidents."
James also rebuffed Trump's allegation that the case will prompt a mass exodus of business activity from New York.
"Last I checked tourism is up. Wall Street is doing just fine," James said.
With Trump losing two civil cases against columnist E. Jean Carroll, facing Georgia election interference charges from Fulton County District Attorney Fani Willis, and now losing his case against James, the New York AG concluded the interview with an observation about Trump's legal cases.
"Someone once told me if you want something done, give it to a woman," James said.

Top fines levied against privately owned companies in America:
Purdue Pharma (2020): Agreed to an $8.3 billion settlement to resolve lawsuits related to its role in the opioid crisis. Purdue Pharma filed for bankruptcy as part of a plan to transform into a public benefit company, which is a unique case of a privately owned company facing such a substantial penalty.
Koch Industries (2000): Paid $30 million for 300 oil spills across six states, which at the time was the largest civil fine ever imposed under the Clean Water Act against a private company.
Cargill (2005): Paid $24 million in fines and remediation costs for environmental violations at its saltwater ponds in the San Francisco Bay Area, marking one of the largest settlements of its kind.
Motiva Enterprises (2001): Faced a $10 million criminal fine and $25 million in civil penalties due to a tank collapse and sulfuric acid release in Delaware. While Motiva is a joint venture, its penalties highlight significant fines within the privately controlled sectors.
Ashland Inc. (2007): Agreed to a $28 million settlement for environmental damage caused by a diesel fuel spill, illustrating significant fines in the environmental sector against privately owned entities.
Icicle Seafoods (2015): Agreed to pay $1.3 million in fines and spend over $5 million to improve refrigeration equipment to settle violations of the Clean Air Act.
Freedom Industries (2014): Faced fines and a criminal penalty related to a chemical spill in West Virginia that contaminated the water supply for hundreds of thousands of residents. The specifics of the settlement include fines and restitution to affected communities.
Martin Resource Management Corporation (2016): A privately held company that agreed to pay a $1 million penalty and take corrective actions to settle Clean Air Act violations at its petroleum products terminals.
New England Compounding Pharmacy (2013): In the wake of a meningitis outbreak caused by contaminated steroid injections, faced criminal charges and significant financial penalties, though the exact figure encompasses compensation to victims and may not constitute a fine in the traditional sense.
Black Elk Energy (2015): Fined $4.2 million for federal safety violations leading to a fatal offshore platform explosion in 2012.

The bank could disagree with my valuation and not give me the rates or the loan $ I wanted. I believe this happens all the time.
The bank, in Trump's case, testified on his behalf, no?
Yes, retired banker David William's testimony was somewhat favorable to Trump. In fact, according to him Deutsch Bank did adjust Trump’s exaggerated net worth. In 2019, his financial statement listed his net worth at $5.8 billion, which the bank adjusted down to $2.5 billion, (less than half what Trump claimed). However, the bank loans were only one piece of Trump's fraudulent business dealings the court reviewed. The trial was to decide remaining claims of conspiracy, insurance fraud and falsifying business records.

I agree people should be concerned. But it isn’t as far as being hunted down because they don’t share the same political views. Trump was target for a number of reasons. We know that it isn’t likely other privately owned businesses will get charged for over valuing their properties or lying on forms.

"The unusual New York law Ms. James used to investigate and sue Mr. Trump didn’t require her to prove that he had intended to defraud anyone, or even that anyone lost money. The Associated Press found that of the 12 cases brought under that law since its adoption in 1956 in which significant penalties were imposed, the case against Mr. Trump was the only instance without an alleged victim or financial loss. Bankers from Deutsche Bank, which lent money to Mr. Trump, testified that they were satisfied with having done so, given they were paid back on time and with interest. They also testified that they were uncertain whether the alleged exaggerations would have affected the terms of the loans to Mr. Trump—a key part of Ms. James’s case. Since there were no victims, the state will collect the damages."

Judge in Trump civil fraud case denies request to delay $355 million penalty
https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=Judge+in+Trump+civil+fraud+case+denies+request+to+delay+%24355+million+penalty
A New York judge presiding over former President Donald Trump’s civil fraud case has denied his legal team’s request to avoid paying a $355 million penalty in the case.
Trump lawyers had asked Judge Arthur Engoron to delay enforcement of the payment by 30 days to allow time for an "orderly post-judgement process."
In an email to the defendants posted Thursday to the court docket, Engoron said they had "failed to explain, much less justify, any basis for a stay."
"I am confident that the Appellate Division will protect your appellate rights," he wrote.
James said Monday she was prepared to seize Trump's assets if he is unable to pay the massive judgment handed down in his civil fraud case.
Trump could be at risk of losing some of his prized properties if he can't pay his staggering New York civil fraud penalty. With interest, he owes the state nearly $454 million — and the amount is going up $87,502 each day until he pays.
Engoron concluded that Trump lied for years about his wealth as he built the real estate empire that vaulted him to stardom and the White House. Trump denies wrongdoing and has vowed to appeal.
Trump's ability to pay his mounting legal debts is increasingly murky after back-to-back courtroom losses. In January, a jury ordered him to pay $83.3 million for defaming writer E. Jean Carroll.
Trump claimed last year that he has about $400 million in cash — reserves that would get eaten up by his court penalties. The rest of his net worth, which he says is several billion dollars, is tied up in golf courses, skyscrapers, and other properties, along with investments and other holdings.
Trump's promised appeal is likely to halt collection of his penalty while the process plays out.

If history is any indication, this law has been used only 12 times since 1956.
My biggest issue is the penalty. It's overboard. I don't understand the reasoning for the severity of the penalty.

Here is what constitution.congress.go v has to say about it:

Eighth Amendment:
Excessive bail shall not be required, nor excessive fines imposed, nor cruel and unusual punishments inflicted.
For years the Supreme Court had little to say about excessive fines. In an early case, it held that it had no appellate jurisdiction to revise the sentence of an inferior court, even though the excessiveness of the fines was apparent on the face of the record.1 Justice Lewis Brandeis once contended in dissent that the denial of second-class mailing privileges to a newspaper on the basis of its past conduct, because it imposed additional mailing costs which grew day by day, amounted to an unlimited fine that was an unusual and unprecedented punishment proscribed by the Eighth Amendment.2 The Court has elected to deal with the issue of fines levied upon indigents, resulting in imprisonment upon inability to pay, in terms of the Equal Protection Clause,3 thus obviating any necessity to develop the meaning of excessive fines in relation to ability to pay. The Court has held the clause inapplicable to civil jury awards of punitive damages in cases between private parties, when the government neither has prosecuted the action nor has any right to receive a share of the damages awarded.4 The Court based this conclusion on a review of the history and purposes of the Excessive Fines Clause. At the time the Eighth Amendment was adopted, the Court noted, the word ‘fine’ was understood to mean a payment to a sovereign as punishment for some offense.5 The Eighth Amendment itself, as were antecedents of the clause in the Virginia Declaration of Rights and in the English Bill of Rights of 1689, clearly was adopted with the particular intent of placing limits on the powers of the new government.6 Therefore, while leaving open the issues of whether the clause has any applicability to civil penalties or to qui tam actions, the Court determined that the Excessive Fines Clause was intended to limit only those fines directly imposed by, and payable to, the government.7 The Court has held, however, that the Excessive Fines Clause can be applied in civil forfeiture cases.8
In 1998, however, the Court injected vitality into the strictures of the clause. The touchstone of the constitutional inquiry under the Excessive Fines Clause is the principle of proportionality: The amount of the forfeiture must bear some relationship to the gravity of the offense that it is designed to punish.9 In United States v. Bajakajian,10 the government sought to require that a criminal defendant charged with violating federal reporting requirements regarding the transportation of more than $10,000 in currency out of the country forfeit the currency involved, which totaled $357,144. The Court held that the forfeiture11 in this particular case violated the Excessive Fines Cause because the amount forfeited was grossly disproportionate to the gravity of defendant’s offense.12 In determining proportionality, the Court did not limit itself to a comparison of the fine amount to the proven offense, but it also considered the particular facts of the case, the character of the defendant, and the harm caused by the offense.13
I would love both sides on GB to weigh in on this. (With reason, not attacking each other)

Problem here is, there was no offense. No one was defrauded, banks testified that all loans were paid back in full, on time and in some cases before. Egregious fines and penalties and the seizure of properties with no victims is what communism is made of.

Judgment in Trump civil fraud case officially entered at $464 million
https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=Judgment+in+Trump+civil+fraud+case+officially+entered+at+%24464+million
A clerk in New York has officially entered a more than $464 million fraud judgment against former President Donald Trump and top executives at his company — an amount that will grow by over $111,000 a day until it's paid.
The action starts the clock on the amount of time Trump has to file an appeal and to post a bond for the award. If he does not do so, the New York attorney general's office will be able to begin collection proceedings against Trump and his co-defendants in the civil fraud case.
The vast majority of the $464,576,230.62 judgment — $454,156,783.05 of it, to be exact — is against Trump and his companies. The rest of the judgment is against his sons Donald Trump Jr. and Eric Trump, who've been running the Trump Organization since 2017, and former top executives Allen Weisselberg and Jeff McConney.
The amount includes the prejudgment interest that's accrued on the more than $350 million award Judge Arthur Engoron handed down last week.
Trump's lawyers had sought to delay the judgment from being entered, presumably to allow them more time to line up financing for the bond, but Engoron rejected that request Thursday.
“You have failed to explain, much less justify, any basis for a stay,” Engoron told Trump attorney Clifford S. Robert in an email before he signed the judgment. The judgment became official Friday after it was entered in by the clerk.
Trump attorney Alina Habba told Fox News on Monday that "we will be prepared" to post the bond amount.
The bond will likely be very costly. While courts have discretion in setting exactly how much is required for a bond, New York courts typically require up to 120% of the judgment, including all pre-judgment interest. That means he could have to post a bond for well over $500 million.

Nah, we spending our money on bullets to purge communists. The good news is Trumps numbers are skyrocketing while Biden’s are taking a proverbial shit at 38%
-
Problem here is, there was no offense. No one was defrauded, banks testified that all loans were paid back in full, on time and in some cases before. Egregious fines and penalties and the seizure of properties with no victims is what communism is made of.
Is this true ???

Trump cannot line up full bond in New York fraud case, offers to post $100 million
https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=Trump+cannot+line+up+full+bond+in+New+York+fraud+case%2C+offers+to+post+%24100+million
Donald Trump is unable to post a full bond while he appeals a $454.2 million judgment that a judge imposed in New York state's civil fraud case against him, and wants instead to secure a $100 million bond, his lawyers said on Wednesday.
In a filing with the Appellate Division, a mid-level appeals court, Trump's lawyers said the "exorbitant and punitive amount of the judgment coupled with an unlawful and unconstitutional blanket prohibition on lending transactions would make it impossible to secure and post a complete bond."
They said a $100 million bond, together with Trump's "vast" real estate holdings and ongoing oversight by a court-designated monitor for the Trump Organization, would be more than sufficient to secure the judgment.
Trump's lawyers also sought to temporarily stay enforcement of the judgment during his appeal, saying he would suffer "irreparable harm" if James forced the sale of his real estate assets to raise capital.
Trump is also seeking to avoid posting a full bond during an expected appeal of last month's $83.3 million defamation verdict in favor of the writer E. Jean Carroll.
He has asked the judge in that case to let him appeal without posting any security, or alternatively by posting at most a $24.5 million unsecured bond.

What dance is 'Trumpy' doing? He is doing the dance of deception, which is to dance around the truth. For us 'Dems’ it is the victory dance. Yes, I agree with you, Trump does not seem to be having fun these days. No matter how fast Trump dances, he is going to lose the dance marathon.

Secure that bond yet? What's taking so long? I mean, I am sure with all the banks tripping over each other to give him the money it is hard to pick one.
The fact that El Lardo has his attorneys in court begging for mercy shows that he is having difficulties coming up with the money. Surely he can ask Jared for a loan right? That guy has billions. Real billions. And what about Ivanka? Why hasn't he put her in charge of the Trump Organization? She was not charged or sentenced. I don't recall any wording or ruling that prevents her from taking over operations. Seems like a good idea and a way to achieve a work around. And with the exception of Melania, she is the smartest Trump in the whole bunch. Unless of course Trumpy doesn't trust her or is scared everyone will see she can do a better job than he or his male heirs. (Which isn't hard by any means)

Well that little delay didn’t work.
Judge denies Trumpy begging to delay paying E Jean. You suckers better start sending more money, like… NOW.

A New York judge on Thursday denied Donald Trump's request for a temporary delay of the penalties in E. Jean Carroll's defamation case, leaving the former president three days to pay or post a bond for the entire $83.3 million judgment.
"Mr. Trump's current situation is a result of his own dilatory actions," Judge Lewis Kaplan wrote in his order late Thursday. "He has had since January 26 to organize his finances with the knowledge that he might need to bond this judgment, yet he waited until 25 days after the jury verdict ... to file his prior motion for an unsecured or partially secured stay pending resolution of post-trial motions."

Selling his penthouse apartment in Trump Tower, New York does not seem like a sacrifice since Mar-a-Lago is his current permanent residence. Trump living there makes sense on many levels. Florida has lower state income and property taxes. New York's tax burden is 12.9 Percent while Florida's is a mere 6.56 percent. Plus Trump can be a star on a daily bases with a guaranteed audience who are also members and guests of that 'club'. It appears Melania also prefers living at Mar-a-Lago to the place in New York.

Ex-Prosecutor Sums Up Trump Lawyer Alina Habba’s New Claim With 1 Brutal Word
https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=Ex-Prosecutor+Sums+Up+Trump+Lawyer+Alina+Habba%E2%80%99s+New+Claim+With+1+Brutal+Word
Former U.S. Army prosecutor Glenn Kirschner on Thursday delivered a scathing assessment of Donald Trump lawyer Alina Habba’s latest claims in the former president’s civil fraud trial in New York, which last month saw Trump slapped with a $455 million-plus penalty.
They were simply “gibberish,” he argued.
Habba said on Newsmax this week that Trump’s appeal in the case was “going to be very strong” and it was now “time to let our side come out.”
“Yeah, that was a bunch of word salad,” Kirschner bluntly summarized on the latest episode of “The Legal Breakdown” podcast alongside MSNBC contributor Brian Tyler Cohen.
“I especially like when she says, ‘Our story is finally going to come out,’” Kirschner continued. “They have been putting their story out in the media, they have been putting their story out in trials that lasted weeks if not months, but now on appeal their story is finally going to come out.”
“It’s a bunch of word salad, it’s a bunch of gibberish,” Kirschner added. “They do not have strong issues on appeal based on my assessment, what I saw regarding the reporting of the evidence that was introduced, that ended up in the massive money judgment against Donald Trump.”
Habba’s defense of Trump helped take the four-times-indicted ex-POTUS “down in flames,” he added.
Her comments were just PR for gullible Trump fans, he said.
Kirschner acknowledged “some issues that have kicked around” with the case but said they are “very minor” compared “to the massive money judgment that Donald Trump is facing which he has still not been able to post a bond in order to take a proper appeal.”

I guess he isn't a rich as he claimed. :D
The really funny thing is that no bond provider is willing to accept any of his properties as collateral. Why is that? ;D Real estate is usually accepted for collateral with the right risk/reward ratio. So what's the problem? The properties are not worth as much as he claims? (That really was the basis for the entire lawsuit in the first place.) Or are they already leveraged as collateral for other loans? Or maybe there is simply no equity in this little house of cards scheme he has going on. Nevertheless..... social media rage rants incoming after midnight. (and before too).
-
I really wouldn't surprised if he does secure the bond at the last minute. Someone/bank will loan him the $$$ based on his assets and get tilted terms in their favor.

Depends on who else may have a claim on whatever he offers. It may come down to not even having enough assets of value to recuperate the bond money even if they have a fire sale.
I think we are about to see the results of his over appraised chickens coming home to roost. Looks like his little shell game is starting to catch up with him. Real billionaires wouldn't have a problem like this. Bezos would just write a check.
Again, I don't see why he doesn't go to Jared. A real billionaire. He can appoint Ivanka to run the businesses since she was not specifically included or named in the lawsuit and judgement. If he defaults, so what? It still stays in the family.

Trump campaign pleads for one million donations as cash crunch looms
https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=Trump+campaign+pleads+for+one+million+donations+as+cash+crunch+looms
Donald Trump's campaign on Wednesday called for donations from one million of his backers, warning he could lose his New York properties, two days after the former president failed to secure a bond to cover a $454 million judgment in a civil fraud case.
"KEEP YOUR FILTHY HANDS OFF OF TRUMP TOWER!," reads a message to supporters from a joint fundraising committee that allocates the money it collects to his campaign and a separate political committee that has been paying Trump's legal bills.
The message, sent by text with prompts for supporters to donate in amounts ranging from $20.24 to $3,300 or a specific amount, accuses James of wanting to seize Trump's properties and portrays her actions as part of a broader effort by Biden and Democrats to harm his reelection campaign.
"So before the day is over, I'm calling on ONE MILLION Pro-Trump patriots to chip in and say: STOP THE WITCH HUNT AGAINST PRESIDENT TRUMP!" the campaign message said.

N.Y. appeals court reduces Trump's bond in his civil fraud case to $175 million, a victory for the former president
A state appeals court ruled that Donald Trump and his co-defendants in the New York civil fraud case have 10 days to post a $175 million bond, down from the $464 million judgment that was originally due Monday.
The 11th-hour ruling from a panel of state Appellate Division judges, all appointed by Democratic governors, is a major victory and relief for the former president, whose attorneys had said coming up with the larger bond was a “practical impossibility.” The ruling also means state Attorney General Letitia James’ office cannot yet begin collecting on the judgment.
“I greatly respect the decision of the appellate division and I’ll post the $175 million in cash or bonds or security or whatever is necessary very quickly within the 10 days, and I thank the appellate division for acting quickly,” Trump said in front of cameras after he left a New York courtroom for a hearing in the hush money case.
Before Monday’s ruling, Trump was liable for $454 million, most of the fraud judgment, but the amount he owed had been increasing by more than $111,000 a day because of added interest.
Trump claimed on social media Friday that he had nearly $500 million in cash that he had planned to use toward his 2024 presidential campaign. The former president, however, hasn’t used his own money toward his presidential campaigns since 2016.
He had also floated the idea last week of mortgaging or selling off his properties, saying he would be forced to do so at “Fire Sale prices.”
His lawyers noted in court filings that bond companies typically “require collateral of approximately 120% of the amount of the judgment” — which in this case would total about $557 million.
Trump's lawyers said in one filing a week ago that they hadn’t been able at that point to secure a bond, and believed it was “a practical impossibility.” They said that they approached 30 surety companies through four separate brokers, trying to negotiate with the world’s largest insurance companies.
The other bond companies will not “accept hard assets such as real estate as collateral,” but “will only accept cash or cash equivalents (such as marketable securities),” his lawyers said.
Trump’s lawyers had asked the state appeals court to either reduce the amount of money he had to post or stay the award without him posting any security while he appeals Engoron’s order.
The decision Monday also puts a stay on the part of the original judgment that barred Trump from serving as a public officer of a company, as well as the prohibitions placed on Weisselberg, McConney, Donald Trump Jr. And Eric Trump.

2024 ELECTION
Trump says he might spend his money on his presidential campaign
The court did not grant requests from Trump to prohibit the independent monitor or installing an independent director of compliance.
The AG's office brushed off Monday's ruling in a statement, saying: "Donald Trump is still facing accountability for his staggering fraud. The court has already found that he engaged in years of fraud to falsely inflate his net worth and unjustly enrich himself, his family, and his organization. The $464 million judgment — plus interest — against Donald Trump and the other defendants still stands."
Trump celebrated the ruling in a post on Truth Social, attacking Engoron and reiterating that he believes he did nothing wrong. Speaking to reporters outside an unrelated hearing in his New York criminal case, he called Engoron "a disgrace to this country."
Alina Habba, the former president's lawyer in the civil fraud case, said in a statement, “We are extremely pleased with the ruling issued by the Appellate Division. This monumental holding reigns in Judge Engoron’s verdict, which is an affront to all Americans. This is the first important step in fighting back against Letitia James and her targeted witch hunt against my client which started before she ever stepped foot in office."
On Friday, Trump told Fox News he'd appeal Engoron's ruling "all the way to the U.S. Supreme Court if necessary." He must first go through the state appeals court process before he can bring that challenge before the justices.
Trump has valued his brand at over $10 billion, but a 2021 financial statement put his net worth $4.5 billion. He has said that most of his assets are in real estate — not cash or stock — saying at a deposition in the fraud case last year, that he had “substantially in excess of $400 million in cash.”
Trump may have some financial relief coming in the near future.
On Friday, shareholders in Digital World Acquisition Corp. voted to approve a merger with the former president's Trump Media & Technology Group, the private firm that owns his social media platform Truth Social.
Shares in the newly combined company, Trump Media, could begin to be publicly traded this week, and Trump would have nearly 80 million shares, estimated to be worth around $3 billion.
Under the terms of the merger, Trump is prohibited from selling shares in the merged company for at least six months, but the board of directors, which will likely include his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., could vote to allow him to sell shares earlier than that.

Joe, what do you think your Huntington Beach property would sell for today? What is the tax appraised value? What do you suppose a lender would appraise your house at? Huntington Beach’s median home price today is listed as $1.2 million. Huntington Beach has an average property tax rate of 1.27%. California can raise property assessed value by a maximum of 2% a year. So, if someone has owned their property for decades, their assessed value could be quite low as compared to real market value.
"...critics attacking Stewart are conflating three different types of real estate values. Whether that’s being done through an innocent mistake or a deliberate effort to spread misinformation, we’ll leave it to the reader to decide, but they’re confusing 1) the actual market value of a property, or what someone would be willing to pay for it, 2) the property’s taxable value as assessed by a governmental agency property appraiser, and 3) documentation about a property’s value submitted to a lender for the purposes of securing a loan.
