I hope I too can be financially independent like you one day and live the dream. Do you think your lifestyle is financially sustainable and will you be able to set up your children with a good financial head-start in life?

They can always sell that huge mansion, move into a tiny house and have a ton of money leftover ???

the huge mansion is almost gone, they are getting a new house with Ems name on the deeds
Em is playing a blinder, poor Brian will either end up dead or divorced and on the streets
You can tell Em doesnt give a fuck about him, any normal wife would have their husband at the ER if they were coughing up blood.

He can't have a tiny house. Moving forward Hanky will always have to have enough bedrooms in the house to accommodate another man's children in case they want to "come back home" for the weekend.
-
Are you going to help him?
I would tease him with the offer and snatch of a slice of French Toast before pissing on him.
-
Brian is entertainment on here. If you don't like him, don't respond to his threads. I would say put him on ignore, but that is for pansies.

This discussion is not going the direction I had hoped for, it's quite depressing

We were supposed to have a home inspection Friday, but they cancelled said it wasn't ready. My current house is 4500 square feet the new house is 3900 square feet, so it is a little bit smaller, and it doesn't have the shop. However, it is brand new and 3 blocks from a nice downtown with restaurants and shops. 2 blocks from the performing arts center and a park that host live outdoor bands.
The new house does have an extra bonus upstairs living room for the pool table though so we won't have a pool table in downstair living room which will be nice. I believe we may add a pool as well within the next year.
The main thing I am looking forward to though is getting some new gym equipment after we move specifically, I want a full rack for squatting but also with cables for crossovers and pulldowns. I am looking at a 6 post Rep Ares 5000.
Both homes have the master bedroom on the main level which I like. We are moving for several reasons wife has a dream job there but also my sons and his mother lives 20 minutes from new house right now he is 4 hours away. So exhcnges will be much easier and I can go to his school stuff during the week.
Also I am just bored where I am at. I live on an Island next to the beach in the winter half the shops and restaurants are closed. There is nothing to do all winter no music sports live performancs nothing. Then in the summer you can't get in a restaurant as it is packed with tourist.
New city has professional and collegiate sporting teams, an off-Broadway performing Arts Center, lots of big bands and live music and festivals throughout the year and an international airport. So yeah I am excited and looking forward to moving.

A friend of mine who has a little house on the shores of Rodanthe recently told me that the yearly erosion rates around there are about 13 feet per year, requiring him to move his house further inland every couple of years.
Did you have that issue at Kitty Hawk?

Moving to a new house is always fun. This one is my longest time being in one (19 years this June). This is my 3rd house since being married in 1989.
Might be my final one, but you never know. Daughter and Fiance are with us, and house prices are practically out of reach for 2 people with normal jobs.
Was looking at something like this one below (w/ big inlaw) but someone already got it (under contract)...
The space over garage has a large APT, with separate utilities, entrances, etc... If something else came up we might do something like this and then they can just rent from us..

The wife and I are just giving and throwing stuff away at this point we are not planning to move again anytime soon as it is a pain but you never know. The inlaw apartment can always be for your caretaker when you are 90 assuming the daughter and fiance eventually get a place.

I'd have to consult the gerbil that wrecked his anus first, he'd be the real expert on these matters.

Getting to the point where I want to down size. I will have my house paid off in one to two years depending if I want to use cash or just use the monthly mortgage. I had the house built with a 9 foot ceiling in the basement so I could lift over head. It's around a 1400 sq ft basement. I have a nice spread out gym down there. During covid I didn't miss a workout when the commercial gym closed.
-
BHANKS, you can always move in with me and Rory if things go south with you and the wife.

Hard to get perspective because the basement is divided in half with one cubby hole bump out. It's not as dark as the photos show. I didn't turn on all the lights. More picture to come.

Of course. I have all the attachments. You could drive a car over that bench and it would still be fine. I still use his situp board too.

Your family must have had serious coin to live in Manhattan. Everything costs a fortune. $5000 a month will get you a one room closet to rent.

Good old Ed.......great guy.....RIP. :(
Heard he said he made his equipment for teenagers and people with little money. It was strong equipment sold for for practically nothing. I bought that bench probably in 1974. Still in service.

I got to know him pretty well.......our powerlifting team went to his shop and bought all new stuff from him for the YMCA gym we trained at.
He would always call me up onstage to do his odd lift contests even though I never trained for them......I did OK too for the most part.
They filmed part of Pumpimg Iron at Mt. Park Amusement Center where Ed held all his contests for free......I made the movie and am in a crowd scene.......my claim to fame. ;D
I met Arnold there,Franco,Louie,Katz,Warren Fredericks,Leon Brown,Bob Klez,Pete Caputo,Elliot Gilchrist,Joe Ugolik,The Mentzer brothers,Gene Massey,Skip Robinson,Marty Joyce,Tony Roma,Bill Mitchell,Ron Magnum,Len Archambault, and a slew of other guys.
Later on in life I had the honor to be in the same show as Gilchrist and Leon Brown.
Insanely awesome durable equipment as you know.......great guy.....great times.

The shirt had the guy below hitting the double biceps shot on it and said "Jubinvilles Gym"
