It's hard to say. 1993 version will always win, IMO

His synthol use in 1999 was disgusting, his biceps look like they're water balloons filled with oil.  Should have been disqualified from the 1999 Mr. Olympia for that shit.

Like Royalty pointed out his abs were a whole lot softer in his later career too.

Flex had superb abs in 1992 and 1993.

For some reason he didn’t prioritize abs when he was competing against Coleman

1992....

If I had to guess, I’d say that Flex trained much harder in 1992 and 1993... in comparison to 98/99

according to AJ there are 3 types of bods

1. torso dominate chest/back ie. spanko cojumbo

2. limb dominate arms/legs ie. mike mentzer

3. having both pecs and arms ie. arnie

Between heavy anabolics , diuretics abuse and oil .....

Flex has been dying for us since 1994....that's 30 years in and out hospitals .... impressive if you ask me !

WooooSHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH  " I dont knock on doors, I knock em' over" (Flex's voice)

92-93 Flex looked incredible. The oil he ruined his look. It was all dan down hill after the ninja attack.

This. Early Flex was phenomenal. I preferred his physique to Dorian's in 93. He went to shit with the size game and oil shortcuts like a few others that wanted to keep up with Yates. Maybe his training went half arsed after the accident.

Yeah. Although 93 was crazy Yates at his best; I wonder if the judges went with Flex 1st Yates 2nd whether it would have been long term better for the "sport"...

Flex was at his best when he first turned pro.

A tragic character in the story of bodybuilding. Along with Ronnie.

Both absolutely broken and fucked.

Many beat him. He looked great but that was a brutally competitive era.

Aaron Baker sought Mike Mentzer for knowledge and wisdom.

Mike Mentzer helped Aaron Baker decimate Flex Wheeler onstage.

Yes Flex had warning signs as far back as 93 when he was in the hospital in Europe after a show with bad lab work. Of course bad bloods are seen as normal at contest times.

The oil did nothing good for him. Not talking healthwise but it fucked his "perfect" muscles.

Flex body lost its response to diuretics after 93, he kept going up in dose to get to the level of dryness, but it just wasn't happening and he fried his kidneys.  It was his hamstrings and low back that couldn't come together for him after 93, especially when standing to the rear, side on he could hide it.

I think it was discussed on GB years ago that his water issues and the diuretics not working was a sign of kidney issues.
