Yeh because laying on the floor and pulling guard would work great on the street

Gordon might be the best BJJ guy in Jiujitsu competitions, but he's full of shit if he believes this.
In a street fight, boxing (or even Muay Thai or Kickboxing) is the best means of combat. Second to boxing (as a complement) would then be Brazilian Jiujitsu and/or wrestling.
If Gordon were to throw his hat in the octagon, he would likely get crushed just as many of the world famous BJJ black belts (Roger Gracie) have gotten their assess handed to them in the past.

strikers win 8)

It’s just a rehash of the old striker versus wrestler argument. Yes, the wrestler is more likely to get the takedown before getting knocked out, but in a street fight being able to land a quick blow, and getting the hell out of there is very useful.
Can’t blame Gordon for trying to promote his sport. I see a lot of those BJJ and grappling competitions on Instagram. There’s never anybody in the stands.

Street fight takedown = his friends kick the shit out of you
-
If he genuinely believes this, the guy has never been in a real fight or witnessed real fights.
-
You need both striking and a ground game. Guys that practice BBJ from their knees and just do casual take downs once in awhile will have trouble with striking wrestlers that know how to stay on their feet.
Take Conor, he was a striker with a weak ground game. He could stop take downs and he knew how to get back up on his feet.
A lot of outrageously good BBJ guys from South America got into real trouble in MMA when they couldn't take down their opponent. Royce I believe stopped MMA when he went against wrestlers who he couldn't take down or keep them down. In the street if you could strike first and do a 50 yards dash it will take you out of so much trouble.

interesting was the fight that never happened between Emin Boztepe & Royce Gracie
-
I know the people in the Wing Tsun world in Germany & people who know what happened when Emin went to America.
I think it was probably a case of money making & no one wanted to lose their name as the ultimate fighting system.
-
the most humble people & effective fighters are the Philippines combat systems.
no fucking around.
other systems like BJJ is about money making & i understand this to a degree.

Boxing + wrestling + being a hoss is the ultimate base for street fighting.
See Mark Coleman.
Sprawl/front headlock with knees to the head is deadly.
-
Speaking of mark Coleman, definitely a getbigger.
Saved his family from a house fire the other day

Check out the smashing machine Mark Kerr. He was the ultimate street fighter.

Quite a neck on kerr
-
Wrestlers transition to BBJ quickly. Maybe the toughest athletes around. When they learn strikes and to not give up their back they are deadly.

Certainly hoping the best for Mark.Last I heard he was doing better

A getbigger's first priority would have been to load up the pc and delete his search history + backup his collection of "bodybuilding" pics.

Great post Kron Gracie is another example as well Ryan would get destroyed in mma
-
Last i checked bjj became pretty useless/nullified in the most elite levels of mma.(havnt followed mma in 7+ years) Simply because guys take down defence became so good.
-
I would love to see Ryan try to fight someone like Mark Kerr. Gordon is living in his little delusion. When was the last time he was in a real fight?
JuJitsu is great one-on-one, but would you use it in the subway? While you are trying to submit a local Jigga, his homeboy, who has zero skills, comes behind you and shanks you....
-
Would love to watch him try a double leg on asphalt.
-
Gordon Ryan sucks cocks.
