Frank Zane! Only have I gotten older and wiser have I been able to really appreciate the beauty and details now lost today in his physique. I don't think I've seen a better physique under 200lbs than Zane. Not only that, he's better than overwhelmingly most over 200lbs.
What a physique. I like that he went against the tide including Weider himself and he still won 3 Olympias.
Definitely one of my favorites all time. Because his body and his MIND. Many of his poses only he can do because of his body type. Enjoy Getbiggers. 8)

Truly one of the best. When he won three Olympias there was no controversy. He beat Mentzer and Robby. There was cheering when Zane won.

Samir said that backstage, Mentzer and Robby were monsters.... but as soon as everyone stepped onstage, it was clear that Zane was beating everyone

He beat Arnold too :)

Robby was probably the biggest he ever was for that contest. Minus Zane he would have won. Standing next to Zane he looked smooth in comparison but standing by himself he looked unbeatable.

I give Arnold a pass in 1968. He was new to America and smooth.

but Bhanks blows him out of the water in a bb contest. he said so himself

True he had to learn the ropes about juicing & proper diet.
-
He was a good looking person overall - which his more conservative muscle underlined.
We're lucky that DJ will continue to carry on his legacy :D
-
You are incorrect he is appreciated enough. You are just now appreciating him. That's all.

I think Zane was an introvert ( according to Jerry Brainum ) a very intelligent man liked the weed.
Worked as a Teacher too so not like the others at Goldīs selling themselves for money. I respect him for that & also Roger walker who represented Australia but was a British man.

One of the most aesthetic bodybuilders of his time.
I'd much rather look like him than any of today's pros, let alone pros from the last 30-40 years.

Zane's a true legend. A bit introverted, a bit aloof.
Heck of a physique and the way he approached things...
Read most of his books and used to subscribe to his quarterly Mag (building the body).
Interesting guy...

Just not a physique to my liking. No homo.

He looked good.

Gayer than just having a "physique to your liking".

Someday, in about 10-15 years, some younger guy will say similar about Marcus Ruhl and Kovacs. "I miss the day of Ruhl and Kovacs, mass monsters with class, not just the bloated bags of veins we have now." It takes a couple of generations to rediscover things.

Ummmm. No.

Ummmm. No.
Sure. Look at how many people crab about Walker, etc... Those same people will look at Ruhl, etc... with fondness in a few years. There will be a size queen renaissance in bodybuilding one day. Everything is cyclic.

When we were young we were so impressed by the massmonsters and never really understood what happened to the body as we aged.
How much more difficult things are etc
Zane was Excellence! His abs vacuum and symmetry were InZane!
