Phil as a college basketball playing teenager had more size and definition than some physique competitors. Absolutely insane.

This is probably the best base of a guy starting out before ever taking bodybuilding seriously.  It makes so much more sense why he advanced so fast. He was made for this. He's called the Gift for a reason. Look at his forearms already. Lol

I'm 100% sure I saw him at a gym in Aurora walking to the posing room after he left DU.  Definitely juicing in that photo.  I walked past JerryMe but only found out who he was when he was beefing with the old bald guy in a photo with a cat.

In his free time he operates drones and drives bentleys below the speed limit, somebody we can all relate to

Arms and forearms were always his strong point. However, he disappears next to other people.

Kai was a moron. He could have won the olympia if he carried on as Phil's palumboism got out of control.

Wasted his career.

You wouldn’t want to leave any valuables lying about in Kai’s vicinity.

Those nostrils would hoover anything within a foot or two.

Concerning Heath, already his celebrity within the muscle world is dimming.

Times now are very different.

Shit moves at light speed. The attention span of young people is not much.

You were Mr. O 10 years ago? Few even remember.

There's an interesting story about Phil Heath and Claude Groulx.  Phil sez:

Quote
I started working out a couple of guys at my gym, and one of them was competing at the 2002 Colorado State contest. I went to watch him and I was hooked. Looking up at the guys competing, and knowing what I looked like with barely any training, I realized that I could do very well. Claude Groulx (note: now retired IFBB Pro from Canada who won the Masters Mr. Olympia) was the guest poser, and in the lobby some kids saw me in my sleeveless basketball jersey and asked me to compare biceps with Claude. I didn’t want to, but it turned out my arms were as big as his, even though I weighed only 185 pounds. Claude told me that I had loads of potential. So on October 8, 2002, I had my official ‘before’ pictures taken. That was the day I decided to become a bodybuilder.

Groulx was not exactly known for his arms, so it's possibly true.

The narrowness was less pronounced when he was smaller.

The narrowness was less pronounced when he was smaller.

That’s cause he has a middle weight torso/chest, but heavy weight arms and shoulders when he got bigger

Flex wheeler was kind of like that, you can tell they were very small guys to start with, Levrone too. Structure, joints

In any picture where he looks remotely good, he is angling away from the camera to various degrees. This visually offsets his narrowness as in an optical illusion (out angling his narrowness)

Once you see this illusion for what it is, you realize that Phil was always worthless shit even in those magical young pics you fools are raving about

phil's amateur pics were posted here back in 2005

it was one of the few times a young unknown bodybuilder had his pics posted here and everybody said he had massive potential, back then every flaw was nitpicked as if they looked like garbage but phil was different

greatness is normally obvious immediately especially in bodybuilding

you look at the best guys they were top guys immediately, top 2 -  3 at the olympia in their first showing or at least top 10

ronnie might be the exception but he still qualified for the olympia every year of his early career, i don't think any guy became a contender when they struggled to get a pro card or qualify for the olympia

Remember Mo Elbowmacaroni? He was the one that competed against Phil in the light heavyweight nationals. He was a big fan of Levrone, and said he was going to take out Phil with ease. Well, the rest was history, Mo pretty much disappeared after that show
