Title: UFC gym Pittsburgh
Post by: LurkerNoMore on May 18, 2024, 08:15:35 AM
Caught a workout here.  Very good gym.  I would rate it : (out of a 10)

Equipment selection -7.  Nice equipment.  Nice selection. But a little too many by the Hoist line that I don’t like.

Cleanliness -10

Upkeep -10

Layout - 10

Pro shop / Supplements -10 (not a surprise )

Location - 4.  Not much parking in the area

Cost - no idea.  Hotel guests got free use

Not sure if these recovery prices are good or not. None of the gums back home offer them. Except massage chairs and hydro massage.

Lurx, looks like a great gym, nice that you got to use it for free. Thx for the pics.
Not a fan of Hoist either, but it beats not having any option, better than nothing...

A slick looking gym.

They had other brands of equipment too.  But just that Hoist probably made up 60% of the machines.  Great selection of free weights, plate loaded (Hammer Strength and such) nice leg equipment.  Had like three belt squat stations, which gyms in Ft Lauderdale have zero.  😔

Anyone ever use the cryotherapy service?   Any good?

So many machines in gyms today.  Anyone use barbells and dumbbells anymore?

Ain't nothing good in Pittsburgh. That whole region of western PA and Ohio. One giant trailer park.

I would have tried it just to try it.

I have had two ice water immersion experiences before it became a "thing".  All I can say is all the benefits you hear about (mental alertness, energy increase) all certainly did happen, and I experienced this without ever knowing that it was a benefit.

It was just an obstacle at a tough mudder

you get the same sensation if someone drops an icecube down the back of your shirt, and its much cheaper

The weather sucks in all these places except Daytona. It should be titled 'Best places to retire if you hate yourself"

None of those places (except Pittsburgh) is in western PA. Western PA's different from the other parts of the state. It's like North West Virginia.

One thing I can say about Pittsburgh... these people have never met anything they would not put a bridge over.  I mean, literally....   they are bridge obsessed.
