Title: Walmart Protein
Post by: SweetDaddySiki on June 04, 2024, 07:28:43 AM
As I'm getting older, the more I like Walmart. My wife groans that we're turning into our parents because they love Walmart. I recently bought IsoFlex protein mix from there and I love it! I don't have time to snack between meals so I like protein but I tend to gain weight (fat) on shakes. This one's good so far.

Anyone else like Walmart supplements or recommend any?

I buy lots of stuff from Walmart.

Right now everything I'm wearing was bought at Walmart.

Never bought protein powder there as I don't use it.

Just eggs.

I love my Walmart clothes! I work from home so I get shirts for like $10 or less and wear those every day. When I had my hernia surgery, my doc recommended loose pants so I got Levi's Jogger jeans that I still wear today. So comfortable.

We love Walmart so much that we stop whenever we see one. In my area, there's some that are good and some that aren't. The ones in the nicer suburbs are nice. Can get good stuff there. Gosh, I'm getting old.

I always check out the clearance racks for deals.

Have gotten some good stuff for cheap.

Nothing wrong with  shopping in the Walmart .If I have to go there it has to be sometimes during a week before 4 pm otherwise weekends and weekdays afternoons  are like Times Square during the New year’s Eve.

Allmax  used to sponsor Steve Kuclo  and Amanda back in the day . I’ve got few samples from them at the ASC and after that I bought it once in the while in the Walmart.  Chocolate  flavor tastes really good .I usually dump spoon or two into my hot oarmeal and some almond butter .
I have bloat from reg.monohydrate  creatine so I buy from Walmart  True athlete kre alkalyn .Works great.
Regarding eggs I buy organic eggs and make omelette with  two eggs and  liquid  egg whites .

I rarely buy any clothes from Walmart but I bought a red tee shirt type shirt that was a polyester blend for something like $7 bucks. I live in New Jersey. I went to South Beach Miami on vacation and went into a very expensive boutique type shop. Too rich for my blood but something caught my eye. The same Walmart shirt I bought on the wall for $80 bucks. I thought that can't be so I picked it up.  Same exact shirt. So some guy is tooling around south beach in his Ferrari in his $80 dollar tee shirt and I'm wearing the same in my Chevy.

That's funny because I saw a shirt at Brooks Brothers (polo shirt; short sleeves) that I liked. Didn't want to pay that much for it. I was in Walmart the next week and saw the same shirt and got it for $15.

Same exact shirt. I don't know if it was labeled the same brand but it was the exact same shirt. I would bet a lot of money it came out of the same factory in China.

For Rambone:

Was in Florida Wed-Fri.

TSA wait time was zero min, which drives the average getbigger  TSA wait time down to around 17 min.  This isn't bad after Lurker started us off with a shitty 45 min.

Had the Heath movie option as well, passed due to hetero, and watched The Iron Claw (BB related, they lift and one is shown pinning gear).

Bought 1 doz Happy Eggs and 1.5 doz Vital Farms while in AirBnB.  Each breakfast was paired with an Oikos yogurt (spelled with no "h" you foreign fucks).  This assured me a minimum of 40+ grams of protein to prevent catabolism while waiting to ride a roller coaster (BB related, Hulk was one of them).

Day 1:  Happy Eggs - 4 (mostly yellow)
Day 2:  3 Happy, one vital - 3 yellow, 1 organge
Day 3:  5, all Happy - yellow
Day 4:  8 - Organgish - vital

I've been on high protein diets for months, low protein, high carb for months, and a balanced diet for months. Zero effect of any of them on rate of strength increase or muscle growth. It's probably a lot different when you are using but I'm not.

Just eat a regular balance diet and save your money.

Staples like laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, floss, toothpaste, TP and the like are much easier and cheaper to get off Amazon subscriptions.

You never have to think about any of this type of shit and you never run out.

It just shows up routinely based on the timeframe you pick.

This allows more time for training and eating.

Just eat a regular balance diet and save your money.

Eat more calories than you need, you'll gain fat

Eat less than you need, you'll lose fat

Simple as that

Increase your training loads on the compound lifts you'll gain muscle go from benching 185 for 5 to 275 for 5 and then tell me you didn't get bigger pecs delts and tris

There is no way you could do that and not gain muscle

But it's important to find exercises that work the targeted muscles most effectively

For example just yesterday I did regular benches and then did machine benches and the machine benches hit the targeted muscle much better so I'll stick with the machine bench

Also most pec rips happen on the barbell bench press, not worth the risk and I get a much better contraction on machines

Yup.  I used to use the cost of dumbbells on the secondary market to gauge that stuff.

$3-4 a pound during Covid, $1.5 and under now.  Sometimes even .50 if you check often enough.

So the Everyday Essentials brand does what exactlhy.

Crum rubber all over the floor?  Dust?  Inaccurate?  They break?

What's the deal.

For less than $1 lb, what is falling short of expectations?

So the Everyday Essentials brand does what exactlhy.

Crum rubber all over the floor?  Dust?  Inaccurate?  They break?

What's the deal.

For less than $1 lb, what is falling short of expectations?

I saw a bunch of little gripes across a bunch of reviews  -

1) The plates are thick. Well all crumb rubber plates are thick. 3" - 3.75" on the heaviest plates is fine, and expected
2) Rubber smell. Well all cheap bumpers have rubber smell for a few days.
3) They weren't Eleiko accurate. A lot of guys were complaining that they were +/- 2% accuracy. I consider that fine for cheap bumpers.
-------------------------
4) They thought the hub might be weak. I'll give them this. The hub is an unknown. It could be fine, especially if it's the staked type or it could be weak if it's the old style from 20-30 years ago.

5) Some guys complain that the 10lb bumpers bend and break, and the 15's show a little bend, but not huge. Again, I haven't seen 10's survive prolonged use for any brand, except the crazy expensive Eleiko technique plates. So I don't hold that against them, 10lb bumpers are consumables in normal usage.

I think a lot of the gripes are guys that want a $1/lb bumper to behave like a $4-7/lb one.

We love Walmart so much that we stop whenever we see one. In my area, there's some that are good and some that aren't. The ones in the nicer suburbs are nice. Can get good stuff there. Gosh, I'm getting old.

So the Everyday Essentials brand does what exactlhy.

Crum rubber all over the floor?  Dust?  Inaccurate?  They break?

What's the deal.

For less than $1 lb, what is falling short of expectations?

Probably the hubs won't take much abuse.  The smell was supposed to be bad too.

I just bought a couple of these 10s to keep out in my garage.

Good for warming up with bar at proper height off floor.

Won't drop them so they won't take damage.

I hear you an BB.

The 10s on most brands will bust if you abuse them, even the "good" ones.

If these 10s are really thin and flimsy I'll return them.

Hopefully they are thick.

I have some other practice plates that are 10s and they are as thick as 45s so they work good for what I use them for.

Keep us updated.

I got the 10lb Essential Bumpers plates today.

They are packed together in a box that is 1.5" thick so I'm not even opening them up and will return the box unopened to Walmart.

Each plate must be .75" thick which will not work for my purposes.  Too thin.

I can't comment on the quality of the plates since I'm not opening the box.

Just remeasured the box and it's only 1.5" thick.

I fail to see the problem.

Are they stable when you put them on the bar and rest it on the floor?

My other ones are thick.

For example, each one of these 10lb training plates is 1.56" thick.

https://www.amazon.com/OneFitWonder-Technique-Training-Olympic-Weightlifting/dp/B01N5R95PG?th=1

THICKER AND STRONGER: We've designed out 5lb and 10lb technique plates to be thicker and stronger than other bumper plates on the market, so they will never bend, fold, or crack when you can drop them from the overhead position.

I never use them solo on the bar, but they would be fine.

If I was repeatedly dropping them by themselves, maybe not, but they hold up fine as they have the other plates next to them for stability.

Not as good as the deal when I got a 40/45/50 all for under 90 bucks, but still very good.

Went to Walmart this morning and saw these hidden on the lower shelf.

Bought all three because you can't have too much delicious Walmart Great Value coffee.

40oz cans for $10.

3 of these equates to 12 regular 10oz cans.

I feel rich.

That is what this thread is for.  Post away.

While I am not jealous of your Chock Full o'Nuts 1970s tin can coffee, I could be swayed by other deals.

Sweetdaddysiki,

Protein does seem expensive.  35 to 40 bucks a tub for 20 to 25 servings...

But it breaks down to 2 bucks a serving or thereabouts for approx 25 grams of protein and approx 120 cals, generally per serving.

The cheaper brands are maybe 10 bucks cheaper but the concern is they utilize 'amino spiking.' Im not sure exactly what all this entails but essentially they claim X amount of protein per serving but in reality it's usually far less. I think one brand was claiming 30 grams per serving but it turned out to be closer to 10 grams, IIRC. There was a lawsuit over it a few years ago.

So for a brand like 6 Star, which Walmart sells - and I think its owned by muscletech - i assume they make up the cost difference by doing things similar to amino spiking.

Beakdoctor: I’m using ALLMAX Nutrition ISOFLEX Whey Protein Isolate Powder, 27g Protein, Chocolate, 425g, 14 Servings.

https://www.walmart.com/ip/ALLMAX-Nutrition-ISOFLEX-Whey-Protein-Isolate-Powder-27g-Protein-Vanilla-425g-14-Servings/546025766

$20 but not bad to me.

I don't use protein powder in excess, but I got 200 servings of myprotein whey for $60.

Last I bothered to check, they did well in 3rd party independent testing and the bags will last months.

Can't imagine paying over a buck a serving for 20-23 grams.

Ironat - I finally broke down an ordered some Walmart bumpers.

The pair of 25s is 22 bucks.

Price was too low to pass up.  Bought 2 pairs, since shipping is free after $35.

This purchase is for sheer laziness of not having to move weights from one machine/area to another at the home gym.

But 44 cents a pound for weight is cheaper than used metal weights off facebook marketplace.

The 10s were $22.

Do you have a link to this $22 deal for the 25s?

There is no way this is profitable.

Just got delivery of the bumpers.
They look good.  Unbelievable deal for $22.
I'm going to use them as practice plates out in my garage so they won't have a hard life and get dropped.

The pricing on the various weights varies.
For example, a pair of 45s is $89 or $.95/lb.
55lb plates are $.60/lb.

Doesn't make a lot of sense.

I'd buy a couple 45s if they were $.44/lb. like the 25s.

I opened the bumpers.  They are great.

However, the pic in the link shows them as yellow.

But the ones I got are green.

And, I actually prefer green because my Rogue 25s are green as well.

But I don't like being deceived.

So I am conflicted.

Some commented that the pants looked nice. I don't need the expensive brands just for the logo. I hate any type of logo on tshirts too. Am I getting paid to be an advert?  :D
