I see him as another experiment by the UFC to build a "star". They do this every so often and it typically doesn't work out too well. Sometimes, though, these experiments do turn out to be good company acquirements that provide good return on investment.

The best example of a golden boy they tried very hard to prop up was Sage Northcutt:
