I absolutely love Dr. Cywes. A wealth of knowledge. Good post.

I don't know what to think about statins. They lowered the cholesterol levels so low that way over half the populations should be on statins. I can't say for certain but it was something like 260 was okay. Now it's under 200 I believe. They have children on statins.
Two types of heart attacks. One is clogs and the other electrical. A huge percentage of clogs are people that have low cholesterol so that begs to ask plenty of questions.
I think the best thing you can do is to be lean and do have a good VO2. VO2 as in being in good cardio vascular fitness. Heart attacks are the number one killer of man in the US.

Listen to the Dr.'s above who will tell you what is best.
Unfortunately being lean and having good aerobic capacity means little as far as clogged arteries.
Plenty of lean and aerobic fit people have heart attacks.
Clogged arteries are caused by inflammation and poor insulin sensitivity.
Inflammation and insulin resistance is caused by eating lots of carbs, sugar and inflammatory foods like seed oils and highly processed foods.

There are exceptions. Being lean and in shape without a doubt puts the odds in your favor. The first thing they do after a heart operation or a heart attack is to have the person exercise. Just like there are 80 year old's that smoked their whole life. You can't come to the conclusion that there is no risk to health because a statistically a few escape heart attacks and cancer from smoking. Diabetes is a heart killer that is without question. Yes, metabolic syndrome leads to inflammation by having a lot of visceral fat around your organs that can be reduced through diet and exercise. A CRP test to test cardiac inflammation is an important test to have.
Don't believe everything you hear on the internet. One study or even a few studies aren't enough. A good doctor that gets to the bottom of a lot of research is Dr. IDZ. He looks a meta range of research on medical topics.
