never been a big eater
4k cals is a lot for me
once tried 6k because I read it in a magazine (Tom Platz), managed 2 days then my system was clogged up

Zack Khan weight 280lbs was only eating 4k a day off season

and before Brian comes in to ruin the thread if he eats all the shit he claims to eat hes purging and throwing up.

Depending on LBM human metabolisms only vary by around 600cals
Fat people who say they have a slow metabolism overeat and thin people who claim fast metabolism dont eat enough

Excess calories equals fat, there isnt any way around that

Intense exercise builds muscle not excess calories

I did 5500 to 6000 for 6-12 months to go from 185 to 210-220 many years ago.

Last time I force fed was late 90s early 2000s.

Didn't count calories because I didn't need to - just kept gaining weight.

Got strong, but body comp wasn't great, and have never felt the need to do it again.

Do I undereat a bit now?  Probably, but probably only by a small amount.

Exactly excess calories=more fat deposition at least for me it does

What do you think of guys that claim most all the extra calories they eat build muscle and they gain very little fat?

I think it's bullshit but my size gaining genetics are god awful so maybe it's true for them

Using gear and growth you just add water weight, its not real muscle

If you are natty, 5lb of muscle a year is about right

Excess cals get stored as fat , you eat more than the body can process and you shit it out.
Fat takes time to produce like muscle fat comes on gradually, faster than muscle but it takes time
Eating 18 k cals a day for three days wont make you fat, eating 4k a day for 2 weeks will

It's pretty simple

If you eat more than you need you gain weight and if you eat less you lose weight

They say someone's maintainance calories can be in a range say 2000-2500 but I ain't so much bout that

Yep it total calories over a period of time

That's why some can have a cheat day and not lose or gain weight because another day or two over the week they just ate less

This is basically what these carb cycling these guys are doing nowadays as Thier total calories over the week are at maintenance

My watch says that's about my maintenance.  Hence what I posted in the "what did you eat thread".

I'll up the cals a bit in the fall to focus on getting stronger.

Understood I'm trying to figure out my maintenance now it's not 2000 as I lost 1.5 pounds on it over a week

Yesterday I fucked up coz I ate 2 chocolate bars and 3 pastries and 2 gig macs so probably bout 3200-3500 calories

So during the rest of the week I gotta take out 1000 calories or so to get an accurate reading

average your cals over a week
Why do you think its important about daily calories

We have only been eating similar daily cals for around 100 years if that

No you don't.  Just eat normal and it will level out.

I'm only counting daily to ensure I don't go over a certain sat fat level, and i'm only doing it for a month as an experiment.

Just eat well, and if you have a bad day, move on.

How much of that was muscle? Do you remember?

A lot.  I'm naturally lean.  Just a shade under 6'2".

Was lifting very hard and heavy doing a fullbody routine.

It was very hard for me to gain weight.

This was with no drugs.  Around age 20.

I got up to 240 around age 25.

Now I'm right around 200 as an old codger.

If I'm left to my own devices regarding gaining muscle which I'm trying now to do I just overeat too fucking much and gain mostly fat

So I figured out I have to pay the fucking price and be disciplined about my calorie intake and that starts with figuring my maintenance and then adding 200 calories extra to make sure I make lean quality muscle gains and not shitty fat mass gains

That way is a fucking waste of time and of money

Off course training most be on point as well

Generally if you weights go up whilst eating lots more will go to muscle

Unfortunately that didn't happen for me when I did this

I was schooled by this from jm Blakeley he told me to "bathe the cell in nutrients" and for every pound of muscle gained you'll need to gain 3 pounds of fat

I don't like those odds but I did it anyway like a fucking dipshit

Some people like our resident slop eater ingests tons of garbage....what`s the   point when it`s all impacted sht and water, which he loses in a day or so ?

It`s a marathon,not a sprint.

I was only 20 doing this so my metabolism was high.

Couldn't do it now.

After a certain age it wouldn't work.

20 to 25?

Around 22 I had to focus on school and couldn't train and eat as much.

After college was over I got back into training and eating like a maniac and pushed the weight up.

Then had to make money so focused on working, etc and backed off on it, got married, kids, etc.

My weight went to 225 for the rest of my life except for a brief time when I went on a low fat diet and dropped to 195 but gave that up and went back to the 220s.

About 3 years ago I went low carb and have been around 200 since.

Late teens, early 20's, between like 19-20. If I had to guess, I was good for 4500-5000 kcals a day for three or four months during that summer. Most of the time it was shit food - 3-4 McDonalds cheese burgers a sitting, an order of fries, a 2 liter of real Pepsi, a slice of pizza($1.35) here and there, plus other things. You could live like a real high falutin' fatass for $10-15 a day.

Gained 25-30lbs, gave back probably half. Got relatively strong though. Thing that saved me was that it was before social media, and internet culture. We'd be out 10am - 1 or 2 in the morning, chasing girls, working, and tons of walking.

When I had no cash early 90s my weight gainer of choice was the following:

2 cups milk
1 cup powdered milk
1 cup oats
Peanut butter

Was pretty awful and filled up the blender, but I did that twice a day pretty regularly.

Tried that when I was broke in the 90s too. Not longer after ingesting that concoction I was toilet bound and I generally have no issues with dairy. Lactose overload.

That's a good recipe.

The only thing missing is the 1/2 cup of canola oil, ice cream, and eggs.  ;)

Years ago my son needed to gain weight for high school wrestling to get to 98 as a freshman.

He only weighed about 80 in 8th grade.  He was little.

I made him shakes including canola oil and got him up to 92 so he could wrestle.

He was a really good wrestler.

I agree.  I wouldn't use it now but then it wasn't considered bad.

With all the other ingredients you didn't taste it.

Currently, for a meal I sometimes mix 4 raw eggs, halfnhalf, cocoa powder and sometimes pure peanut butter and blend it.

I eat low carb.

No, I wasn't fat.

I am/was very muscular and have a big frame.

It was very hard for me to put on weight.

Wore a suit everyday on my job and they needed extensive alterations.  Cost a lot at the time.

I bought high quality suits and my tailor would take them apart and recut them.

This was 40+ years ago and it would cost me $80 for the alterations which was alot to me then.

I could go back to 220 easy if I went back to eating carbs normally.

Hankins weighs more than me and he's 3 inches shorter.

I'm a shade under 6'2 and got to 240.

Dieted down to 195 for a short time about 30 years ago when I got into the low fat diet eating sprouts and sawdust.

Graduated high school at around 135 at 5'11".  Gained 50 lbs to 185 in the next 6 months growth spurt plus lifting.  185 was a sticking point.  Then 210 was a sticking point.

This is all up to age 25.  Then I grew up and got to work.

Have continued to workout along the way with some minor gaps.

Wrestling.

My son was really small and only grew late.  He is still light but got to 5'11" height.

We thought he might never grow.

He was gifted athletically.  Came out of the womb very well proportioned but was little.

I was 5'11 at 14 and one of my friends was the same but he grew to 6'3 at 16

For BB is like 5'7 to 5'9

Does going to the Pizza Hut lunch buffet after every training session 3 to 5 days a week count?  ;D

In the 90s I had a training partner who lifted big and ate heavy. I went along with it for a while - this is back when all you can eat was around $6. The Pizza Hut was across from the gym. I was certainly big and strong but it was ridiculous.

Had a buddy who asst. managed a Pizza Hut and we gents would go there and he would sneak free pizzas out to the car for us.

In college there was an all you can eat buffet and went as often as possible and ate as much as I could hold.

Went there for at least a year of just bulking.

By the next year I got a real job and I stopped making BB such an obsession.

They are impressive as fuck

Most guys that tall aren't so broad but when they are.... LOOK OUT

Big Paul and vig Steve just said they don't advise to gain more than 20 weeks or 5 months

And big Paul said he held on to 250-255 on only 200-250 mgs of test weekly

He's now on 3 grams total and about the same damn size

In fact he'll probably step on stage in the mid 230"s

But he said he was 11% then and now he's 6.5%

Steve is only eating 2800 and he weighs 225 Paul is eating bout 3800

Can someone argue the following with me please. I think 2 persons with the same stats will have very, very similar caloric needs i.e they will lose weight at approx. the same calories. You always hear about fatties not losing despite not eating and skinny people not gaining despite "eating whole pizzas with reg Coke." I always cite Minnesota starvation study and point to WWII concentration camps to argue that everyone will lose at same calories. Some will point to raition of muscle:fat but while that affects metabolism it isn't by that much.

Of course

But I'm asking if 2 people of similar stats have wildly different metabolisms. For example one doesn't lose weight on 1800 calories and the other loses on 2600 calories. You see this claim here, there, everywhere, often by reputable people. I'm claiming it's not really true, the "calorie requirement charts" usually work because stats metabolisms don't differ so wildly.
I know you questioned if the charts you looked at were really correct, but I think calories probably "disappear" somehow in a manner you haven't thought about. I haven't seen you IRL, but you could maybe  be someone who fidgets a lot, is always on the move, and that burns calories  ;D

7-8000 daily for months prob a year.I can eat. 10k days weren’t extreme for me. Daily now I eat around 3500 to maintain and every few days I have around 6-8k depending how hungry I am. Not saying great food just total calories. Had 8 blueberry muffins the other day so that was 3200 calories. With junk it’s easy to load up quick. Eating clean, high calories is very difficult.

According to the data I found my maintaince is bout 1800 if I was sedentary

Bout 2200 if I trained 3 times a week which I do

So this 2400 so be bout right for me to add only lean dry muscle tissue

I'll check my weight again in a few.days just to be sure and if I somehow keep losing weight then I guess I'll have to go up to 2800 but I don't think I'm losing weight anymore now

Eating 2 full packs of rice is actually a bit of a chore

you are aware you dont add muscle, the muscles you have expand and get bigger.
Adding new muscle is called hyperplasia, trust me , you dont want that to happen
Muscles growing larger is hypertrophy , thats good

That aneroxia shit is annoying as hell

My arms are bigger than 75-80% of men I see in my gym but whatever

I spend bout 10-12 bucks a day on food

2400 is not starving dummy and yep if I went to 3500 or so I'd gain fat VERY QUICKLY so fuck dat noise

Done with wasting my time and money on that nonsense

Get this.... The KEY is a very slight surplus to insure that you are only gaining lean dry muscle tissue and.... You must improve in almost each and every training session if you don't improve ie. Add weight or reps to the bar then ZERO muscle is stimulated to grow and that slight surplus will go straight onto to fat tissue and expand and grow it

Back in the late 90s I increased the training loads on the leg press from 5 plates total to 10 plates total in 8 weeks time and guess what? I added 6.5 pounds of lean dry muscle to my legs even have photos to prove it

My body weight went from 160 @ 12% to 165 @ 11%

Yeah, kind of - not a judgement, just what I see.  At your age you should be moving more.  But to each his own.

Listening to anorexic DJ talk about 200 calories this and 50 calories that and training on a 30 dollar a week food budget is nonsense. EAT

did you get "stuff for dumplings"

Doc.lee just dropped a very very good vid although I don't agree with all of it

He said eat 5-10% above maintenance and get 1.5 grams of protein for pound and the rest from carbs he says you'll get enough fat from your protein sources

He also said if you are getting soft and gaining fat you need to up the dose but he also said if he gained 3 pounds of muscle with 9 pounds of fat in 9 months on gear and GH that would be very good gaining 3 pound of fat per one pound of muscle gain WTF that's fucking shitty

He says run test low and fill the rest with shitty mast he said eq and primo are bad choices coz they lower estrogen goo much and therefore require one to use more toxic test

He says mast is the cleanest and more benign of all gear and primo fucks.your liver

I asked him how much test to run with deca and he said 20 mgs injected every day he said your a dipshit if you don't inject everyday as it's the smartest and safest way to do it coz it keeps the hormone levels more stable

Some really good info except mast sucksass for me and I will not tolerate gaining 3 pounds of fat for.every pound of.muslce

He's also a big Israeltel fan and he even had him on a podcast and he says train with as much volume as you can but stay 1 or 2 reps in reserve, I could never train 2 reps in reserve too pussy like fuck that

He's ripped and pretty dry yet where is the separation and detail in his arms?

I just don't fucking get it

Nonsense. A set can still be hard. Like say I did 3 x 10 with 140kg on bench its still hard work. Or 3 x 10 with 160kg on squats. I find the muscle often gets a better workout like that than going all out each set.

No need to do daily injections but thats just my preference and opinion. Once a week for everything for me. I am currently running 300 test, 300 eq, 300 deca, 200 tren and I do it all once a week and it works fine for me. 20mg superdrol pre workout if I feel like it.

I can't source superdrol which is probably a good thing 😂

You're kinda doing what the guys on thinkbig BB say is the best gaining stack as they preach test eq and a sprinkle of npp most of them say that's what they fall back on for gaining

So chase Irons is going to hit 20,000 total test and he will run up to 5 grams of test to do so

He now weighs 255 down from 280 and he thinks he will have to go all the way down to 230 to get very lean

What the fuck? 5 grams of test and 230 at 5'11?

He carb cycles eating 1000 carb grams every 5th day and the other days his carbs are like 300

But 230 on 5: grams FUCK

At least he trains hard and none of this reps in reserve horseshit

I drank gain weight shakes for years. I really regret doing that. If you have a choice being lean has it all over being a permabulker. So many guys are delusional thinking they look good carrying some fat on their body.

Had a buddy who asst. managed a Pizza Hut and we gents would go there and he would sneak free pizzas out to the car for us.

We would walk in and tell the people in the back to throw a couple freshies in the oven, haha.
