There was a period in the mid to late 1990s when these unitards were everywhere... in magazines, in gyms... then almost overnight they disappeared. Does anyone know why they started and why they fell off in popularity? Were they patented by a company that went out of business? You almost never see them anymore. ???
-
Everyone who had one, please confess. I had a lot of genie pants, spandex, T Michael wear etc, but never one of these.
-
Trish ( “Hot skins “) had a shop Venice California…. Visited it in the early 1990’s and yes I bought some of those stripped uni- tards …let me see if I can find a pic?)
-
Was anyone ever brash enough to don a stripped unitard WITH construction boots?

For some reason I feel that WE should be asking YOU, this, and not vice-versa.

I never had a stripped one but did have a unicolor one. :-[

Like I said, they were everywhere: in every magazine… photoshoots… training videos… and in gyms. But it only looked “good” if you had serious mass.
-

but had a lot of platinum baggies, cra-z wear, better bodies etc
-
:)

Me too - couple of them in fact (oh brother)
Not that convenient when you need the toilet as I recall...
-
You mean "striped"? I believe "stripped" qualifies as a Freudian slip given the OP. :D

They never looked good. Just gay, cringe, tasteless, awkward, tacky and fetish-like.
Even more so when combined with Otomix shoes :)

In the 80's, the craze was California Baggy Pants - so many people wore them, quite comfortable, many styles and colors and graphics... now, just a few remain to buy out there..

Arvilla never has to worry about hiding the bulge when he wears spandex.
Mini turtle head of peace.

The jean shorts, suspenders and workman boots will never be beaten

Did Chris Lund invent that look for bodybuilders? I like to think he brought a suitcase full of daisy dukes, sleeveless flannels, suspenders and workboots to all his photoshoots and selected the outfits for the guys he would photograph himself.

Lol. "Put this on. It's.... for the art." I'm not sure where it originated.

Wouldn't do interviews to female reporters but would happily don that look for magazines... He chose well...

Settle down Michelle, you may be the only Getbigger to ever lose a mandatory pose to Hankins.
Love the tattoos, very original and edgy.

great take. They eventually had airbrushed designs over the stripes.
-
Unnecessary apostrophe in "bodybuilders" and also misspelling of "striped" in the thread title.
OP should not get a pass just for fulfilling multiple DEI checkboxes.
Please correct this.

All steroids.

Musclemag posterboy, they seemd to promote him. If I recall correctly he had a Nissan of Datsun 300z, they used it in a profile about him?

In fairness that was a cool car for about 5 minutes. When I was in high school everyone wanted one.
