Than donating money to a political party in the US?
Election spend is up to $2bn per party per election.
Kamala raised $60M in one night (of course that was all money being held back by rich donors).
But the man in the street? Donating too? From the little he has left over? You have to be a dumb fuck to be a regular Joe giving these people money.

Yes, it's dumb for an individual to give small amounts.
Also dumb is donating money to most churches, charities and not-for-profit organizations.
For example, buying way over-priced Girl Scout cookies is dumb.
It makes you feel good but it's foolish.
If you receive a personal benefit it makes sense.
Big money is given to politicians and parties to influence future decisions so that makes sense.

It is probably useful if you're a getbigger business person and can get something out of it on a local level. Maybe you want some land rezoned or a building permit pushed through.

Crazy, right? Then again, there's people throwing it down the drain on all sorts... at least they get some feeling of being part of something.

Some thoughtful responses … for a change.
I personally would only donate to a politician if there was some quid pro quo.
-
Could have donated to the Clinton Global Initiative.

If you’re a business owner in Chicago you donate.
You get it back fifty fold if you know what you’re doing, but you definitely donate.

As dumb as $4000 on a Trike or sending money to your 50+ year old son in Russia for drugs?
