Jim Arrington turned 92 today and competed to increase his Guinness World Record age. This has never been done before. He also won 1st place in the 80 and Over category since no one else showed up. Jim might not be the biggest or the most muscular, but he has continued to work out and compete his whole life. Sometimes just showing up and sticking with it is enough to reach the top like Jim has. Proud of you brother and Happy 92nd Birthday. What a way to celebrate.

His is to be admired for his tenacity at training. He is also a reminder of why I will never go on stage again. He is built better than me and that is NOT damning him with faint praise but simply the truth. Even if I were "better", I would not compete. I am past the age where I think it viable for me. All the best to him in his training!

It's great Arrington is still active at 92 but he should quit embarassing himself by going onstage.

Yup. I have lost just over 80lbs so far since my heart attacks. Doctor's orders so I have complied and am still here!

This is as amazing as what Ronnie Coleman did.
The guy stands on his legs, is still fairly straight, walks without difficulty, shoulders that still seem functional and has muscles without fat.
The guy can rely on his knees, hips and lower back.
Very few of you will come out of this whole without pain or surgery and no one will be here at 92 years old.
All the heavy loads that you have lifted like idiots will cost you your healthy old age with a still functional body.

The guy can rely on his knees, hips and lower back.

I'm guessing 95 percent or more of his peers are probably dead. And those who are still alive are not in his shape. He is probably the best built guy his age in the world. The things you critique him on are silly considering his age. There are much younger people who go on stage to compete that look a lot worse. Are these people suppose to give up just because there are a few people like you who don't agree with their actions? Or should they just live THEIR lives they want to and let you live YOUR life the way you want to? Most people will be lucky to make it in their 80's. And those that do will have quality of life issues. I personally think Jim looks great for being 92 YEARS OLD. Think about that age for awhile then think about your comment. If you think someone his age is suppose to look awesome, then you might have mental problems 8)

Take Wes, Oldtimer, CoachisBack, and they will tell you that getting older is extremely difficult, especially when you have been bodybuilding, but to last this long and be able to go on stage is truly incredible.
Don't look at it like you would look at the horrible Bhank who will die before the age of 50 but if one day you reach 60 you will probably be in poor health and then you will realize that this performance is crazy.

This guy deserves a ton of respect. What bothers me about this is that this shows that you can do everything possible to try to maintain muscle cells and at some point no matter what they will always die. You can bet that this guy trained hard, probably ate an adequate amount of Protein and new more the healthy end of bodybuilding than damn near anyone and no matter what his muscle cells steel died and likely there’s nothing that can stop it.

Arrington can keep training for health but as far as the stage, his time ended many years ago.

Once a year to stay motivated and have a goal and show everyone that we need to take care of our body.

True. When you look at Jim at 82 years old 10 years ago, he actually had a pretty impressive physique. But that is how life works. Once you are past your prime, it's all about holding on and slowing down the inevitable

It keeps him alive, gives him more opportunities for interviews, videos, and other business inquiries. Plus, they treat Jim like a rock star when he shows up to events like this. Why would he ever stop? Just because you think so? I think Jim has done alright for himself and he will stick with living his life his way. You should do the same and not worry about what others think. You will be happier in your life

I would never compete now or at that age as I know I look like crappola. But I suspect it keeps him both motivated and busy. Better than doing nothing and/or voting Democrat. ;D
