Title: Should the Mr Olympia be 5 foot 6?
Post by: The_One77 on October 01, 2024, 12:09:27 PM
Not being mean, but the best basketball players, heavyweight boxers, or whatever aren't 5 foot 6. Can't really respect the Mr. Olympia if you walk past him and think he's asking for help reaching the top shelf. Also, I've never seen a guy pray before doing a set of dumbbell presses – not sure we need a 5'6 minister as Mr. Olympia, preaching between sets. Its bad for the sport.

You’re a moron, basketball is a sport that requires height. Boxing, there’s weight classes yet you bring up the heavyweight class to try to make a point

Bbing is literally just building the body, mass, condition, symmetry, etc…

x2.  It’s a short man’s sport.  5’4”-5’9”.  The OP’s prejudice against short men is his baggage; the rest of us don’t have to live by it. Branch should have won at least once.

Good point. A Mr Olympia should definitely be of questionable character.  A schmoe, G4P, a ruthless businessman who will do whatever it takes to get ahead, a self absorbed Narcissist that will leave a sick wife in pursuit of vanity, an imbecile,  a hedonist, drug abuser etc...

There's no place for ministry in bodybuilding.  Dennis Tinerino proved there is a noticeable decline in placings after becoming a believer.

The best built man should win regardless of height.

If Labrada or Ray won the title no one would have complained.
Dexter is 5’6”.
Momo Benaziza defeated Yates and was thick AF at 5’5”

Height should not matter. It should be the best built man with size that's not grotesque.  It would mean we go back to 80s judging. I'm cool with that.

This!  And yet Padilla lost to Franco and Makkawy lost to Haney.  I know it is all subject to personal preference but I think both Padilla nd Makkawy were superb and should have won on those two instances.

Of the competitors now in the O, I think the most of Derek "Lumpsford" (that "surname" is highlarious!).
