I like watching hurricane footage. Seeing all those climate change deniers swim, drown or flee, very entertaining. People who in 2024 still haven't figured out that:

- living in or next to a forest
- living next to a river
- living on or near the beach on flat land

are very tricky lifestyles just deserve to suffer.

Insurers are a lot more realistic. They refuse to insure many houses in high risk areas. That should tell owners and potential buyers something...

Wow. You're a real piece of work aren't you?

Most people don't doubt climate change. Most people doubt wether or not it is caused by humans.

For example, you're probably the kind of mensa member who claims "it's man made" (you're probably also the kind of self righteous prick who only uses 'man' in negative contations such as man made climate change and use more 'person centered pronouns' with everything else such as human kind) Yet you conveniently ignore ice ages, or the thousand year droughts that happened way before indistrialiazation.

Personally, Florida sucks. You in particular should never visit it. You wouldn't like it. Best for you to stay away altogether.

Climate change - oh brother. Like this shit hasn't been going on for 10,000 years. You dumb fuck. The thermometer as we know it wasn't even common until the late 1800's but you believe the average temp of the atmosphere has been going up for the past 100, even when no one measured it.

If you want to live there then you take the risk upon yourself or pay huge insurance premiums (if you can get it).

Don't ask Uncle Sugar to bail you out.

This is happening all along the coast as people build homes where they shouldn't.

Florida is nice in the winter months.

The rest of the year it's a sauna.

Another attraction was the low cost of living but that has apparently ended if you want to live in the desirable areas.

In the late 80s you could get a nice condo for $70-$80k.  Now it would be $500-$700k or more because of demand.  Renting has also gone up.

Hurricanes have always been a threat down there.

I've been going down for a week every year in early spring.  I'm bored of it though so may not go next year.

Only when you move away from the beach area.  Ft Lauderdale isn't that bad.  You can see higher temps in Orlando and north FL with much more humidity.  The ocean wind keeps that pushed out west from us.  It's hot... but not as bad as people make it to me.

What a joke of a hurricane lol

I can tell you don’t live in FL. I think it was a record for tornados touchdowns and warnings caused by the hurricane. Had an EF3 2 miles from my house that went for over 20 miles and was over 300 yards wide destroying anything in its path, and there was another EF3 500 yards wide. The next day in Shizzoland, I saw a shipping container that must’ve been blown 300 yards onto the other side of I-95. Tons of trees are snapped in half along I-95. Over a million without power and people died in Fort Pierce and that’s just what’s close to me, so you don’t really know what you’re talking about.

That is true. It's a trade off. But I suspect for some, Helene woke a lot of people up. I still have friends up and down the west coast who suffered from Irma, and then Helene and now Milton that have them thinking about relocating. We were lucky and moved from the Treasure Island St. Pete Beach area in May. Insurance will likely be ridiculous going forward

Moving from the beach out of a flood zone and away from the Hurricanes has saved me thousands a year in insurance. Entire houses were falling into the Ocean and the sound side houses while safer still had really high insurance. One year a hurricane got behind the houses into the sound where it built up more power and did a lot of damage.
