wrote about it before but i never really hated the police simply because i did the crime(s) & got off lightly as a kid.
The so called probation Officer was a Copper in plain clothes who visited us at home. I actually liked him as he was as i remember a decent man.
what straightened me out was the threat of going to Borstal which they told me was coming. ;D

my experience is somewhat different
one thing I will say is arming the police like the states would be an unmitigated disaster
majority of old bill I have encountered are either bullies or bullied

a fwmonths back by ex told the police I had firearms in y house when I had the kids.
there isa unit in Liverpool called the matrix.
I looked outside my home and saw 4 vans full of them outside. next thing bang on the door. I was ordered out. they had three red dots on me once I got out they put me up against a wall then took my legs from under me and lay on top of me with riot shields. 4 of them. I could do nothing
sadly my kids saw it and were very upset.
I was then hand and leg shackled and surrounded by them with 3 dogs. I was then asked questions. once they knew it was the ex wife taking problems they were fine but without doubt they were willing and able to kill me.
I'd love to say I cam upwth something Oscar Wilde witty but I didn't- it was terrifying and I feared for my life.
