In 1999 I won  $500 .Had a few matches there and the last  match on the ticket was Man U vs. Bayern. I’ve had Man U winning finals and it was one of the craziest games ever.Man U  was losing the entire time   and I  was about to throw  the ticket away….. until 91 minute and then turned around in 93 minute mark .

On Bowl day in the late 90s a buddy and I had a perfect day at 9-0

We won 9k combined, I was ecstatic because I didn't make much and this would enable me to pay off a credit card that I was on the minimum payment plan with.

Our bookie was a middle man with a drug problem apparently, and he was betting as well and lost a shit ton.

So, to the home office that were the real guys, the payout to our guy was nothing, so he did not get the money to pay us.

I decided then that even when I win, I lose, and stopped doing it regularly ever since.

NFL and live UFC betting are  my go to. Maybe the most I’ve ever won on a single ticket is 5000.

See above I used to play the ponies all the time. I even would go to OTB locations. I also like to bet on MMA and boxing. However my largest best are on the market. Making or losing a couple hundred betting on sports pales in comparison to making and losing a couple hundred thousand betting on the markets.

As strange as this sounds, I have never gambled once in my life. Never even purchased a scratch off ticket or lottery ticket.

Gambling never made much sense to me. Too high risk.

You can't beat the house consistently.  It's a rigged game.

I've never gambled on sports.  Watching sports is something that brings me great joy/entertainment.  I've always felt that gambling would get in the way of said enjoyment.  I've been tempted over the years and have some regrets but if I ever do bet on a fight for instance, it has to be for the fighter I want to win.  Back in 96 I should have put money on Holyfield in the 1st Tyson fight.  I told anyone who would listen that he was not just beating Mike but stopping him.  If I could have gotten in when it opened at something like 18-1, I'd have made a ton of dough.

Pretty modest ... Biggest win only about $350 but I purposely bet small so my biggest loss is only $45 over a weekend

In 2014 I won $54,692 in one day. It was a series of parlays based on 12 teams wagering the 12 game parlay, several 10's, 8's,6's and 4's. All 12 teams won.

That's seriously good. I've won small amounts like 8k based on following orders from friends and just putting a grand down here or there; but gotta admit that I know piss all about it. If I've had a drink, I'll just follow the lads. Have been tempted to put down stupid amounts and just see; but can't justify it. Being egged on when you're pissed should be considered a crime against friendship.
My lawyer guy explained his, "secret" system to me one day and the fact that he was secretive about it told me he's got a problem. It was stupid but made sense. He started with 200 quid and built it up over time to 180k. Who knows how his wife will handle things if he jumps off the deep end. He had a good philosophy, though. That 180k in his brain is only 200 quid. You'd think that a twat that charges by the hour would consider the time he spent building it up but clearly not

A wife can be a killer for betting. If you lose she will bitch endlessly and if you win she will want to spend all the money instead of saving some for your bankroll.

How much is a quid?

My friend and I made around 10k each last year. He was working for a bookie and could see the games where people bet a lot of money on and we just went with that info to other bettting sites. It was quite stressful since you had to be really fast when he sent me the info because most of it was during live matches and you had to place the bet before the people that worked there realized there could be a potential risk leaving the market open for too long. Some matches were fixed but many were not. So it was also a big gamble for us. Then after you won some suspicious bet you were limited or even banned from the site and had to open another account somewhere else or use some other account on the same site again etc.

I've heard of some mainstream sites banning members and refusing to honour bets in the blink of an eye, even if the bet wasn't suspicious whatsoever. I suppose they count on a certain percentage just to throw in the towel as the hassle to argue with them and kick up a fuss is too much for many to bother with

The SBR forum rates these sports books so you can avoid most of these problems. You can also send a complaint to them and they can help get your money back. These sites do not want to lose their A grade because it can end up costing them millions from lost customers and future customers.
