He could not stand up to a hip-toss from a skilled amateur wrestler.

The two best parts of that Brawl For All tournament was Steve Blackman entering and no one wanting to fight him.  He was/is a legit hardass.  After winning his first fight, he was instructed by Vince to "withdraw due to injuries from training for the next bout".  He was the reason that Ken Shamrock refused to enter the contest.

Second thing was that the WWE had set this up for Steve Williams to win, hoping for a big main event against Austin (? I think) at the time.  They even paid Williams the $100K prize money for winning before he even had his second fight.   His second fight was about Gunn and Gunn mopped the floor with him and threw all the plans out the window.

Thats the reason for bringing in Butterbean to teach Gunn a lesson

Steve Williams was always overhyped by JR to the point that people in the States hated him.

LOL, he was only 38 I remember thinking he had to be closer to 48 back then…… Dr Death had a long run as a name guy at that point.

Did anyone get the feeling we were watching a Hankinsesque performance there?

He always did.  He was more popular in Japan than he ever was here.  If not for JR, he would be wrestling in bingo halls while in the States.

Just watched an interview with the Godfather talking about the brawl for all, and he mentioned how Steve was way past his prime by like 15 years! So of course after knowing his age, i immediately went to the comments and everybody else was making comments about how he was 38 while the Godfather was 37 or about how Steve must’ve been one tough 13 year old

Dr Death had vintage caveman genetics.  That dude probably had the same face from the time he was 15.

Ended his career tearing a hamstring during that and died a few years later. He was a helluva wrestler and football player at Oklahoma.
